When I come to playing a video with Xine I get this error code...
I have been using Lenny for about a year now, but for some reason Xine has suddenly stopped playing mkv files. It plays everything else including flash. I only started using xine because the mkv files for some reason suffer from a lag between the video and audio in mplayer. I tried installing banshee and vlc but neither of them show video. So I was left with only Xine and it worked perfectly then it suddenly stops playing mkv. Is there something I need to install or remove, reconfigure? Do I just delete the Xine config folder in my home-folder? Lenny being what it is I can only install what is on the out-dated Lenny repos trying anything else like the unstable releases simply wants to uninstall my entire system.
My machine specs are:
Acer Aspire 8930
Intel Centrino 2
NVidia geforce 9600m GS 512mb
RAM 4GB
I have the proprietary nVidia graphics drivers installed. So it is powerful enough.
I was trying to play an MP4 (h264) video from Meet The Gimp (in particular, this one) but both xine and dragonplayer would play a couple of seconds of it (poorly) and then segfault and die. The error spew looked like:

dragonplayer emitted the same output, so I assumed it was something amiss in one of the libraries they both use. mplayer plays the video, so I'm not without recourse, but it would be nice to know what's up with the segfaults. Anyone seen something like this?

Slackware 13.1 (freshly installed)
AMD64x2 5600
4GiB SRAM
GeForce 8800 GTX w/ 768MiB VRAM
I've been using Xine for a while now, and all of the sudden when I try to play an audio file I get this message saying ( The stream " There is no Mrl" uses an unsupported codec:
codec: MPEG 1/2 (0x0) Star Playback Anyway?)
Anyway it will not play any video or audio files. Has anyone seen this type of message before?
I have just installed Slackware 13.1 32bit. My hardware is a P-4 3Ghz with a gig of ram. Intel on board graphic and sound.
This is the best implementation of Kde I have used so far. Slack 13.1 is amazing. The install went very well and everything we configured properly.
My problem is when I start Kde or try to shut dowm or logout I get the same error for knotify: Unable to use the Xine Multimedia Backend:Could not find plugin 'Xine' for application 'Knotify'
I get this same error with the application name at the end of it. If I open amarok I get the same error message with amarok at the end. If I try to click a misic file in dolphin same error message.
When I try to shut down or log out from menu I get the xine error and nothing happens. The only way I can log out is Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to get to the KDM log in screen and then I am able to shut down from the menu.
I have been looking on the forum and using google but have found nothing useful.
The error pops up when I try to play a cd or music on the hard drive.
I m newbie in Linux. i am using fedora 13, kernel release: Linux 2.6.33.6-147.fc13.x86_64 and my graphics card is nvidia g-force 8400 GS. nvidia driver version is 195.36.31.
now my problem is when i run any video file in any media player, my system just freezes...and only way to get rid that is system reset !!! and it get freezed randomly, sometimes system works fine without halting!! i update my kmod-nvidia and kernel but the problem has not been solved!!
I have Fedora 12. When i play some video in any player (totem, xine), there is no green color, only red and blue. How can i fixed this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just installed SuSE 11.4 and find that xine and VLC cant play DVDs. xine reports:'input plugin cannot open MRL [dvd:/]' and then 'cannot find input plugin for MRL [dvd:/]'. Plainly I've either forgotten to install something, or somethings' permissions are wrong.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed openSuse 11.2 (64bit), and I installed the avi codecs as described in Restricted Formats/11.2 - openSUSE-Community with the 1-click installation for KDE. But kaffeine and xine are crashing when I try to play avi files.One thing I found out is that all packages are 64 bit packages only the w32codec-all version is 20071007-0.pm.1.1-i586 and I don't get offered a _64 package. Is this OK? What else could be the problem
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to resolve an ongoing fight involving /dev/video node assignment between 2 TV Tuner cards and a USB video camera.
Each time I reboot the three devices seem to shuffle their /dev/video assignment. i.e. what was /dev/video0 (USB camera) after a reboot magically becomes /dev/video1.
This causes all kinds of grief between my MythBackend and ZoneMinder who expect the devices to have static assignments.
how to best solve this? I did a brief search and one solution appears to be to statically assign the devices.

I have lots of 720p MKV files which play fine on VLC and/or mplayer. These are the two players I know. Whenever I try to play a 1080p file, the video is sluggish and quickly desynchronizes from the audio (mplayer) or the sound is choppy (vlc). This is because one CPU cannot decode a 1080p x264 video. Not powerful enough. Now, I have a Q6600, with 4 cores. Options in mplayer and VLC to use more than one decoding thread don't seem to do anything at this date, as one core is only user (reported by TOP).

The problem is now whenever I play any video file in any video player the PC freezes locking up virtual terminals. However the sound of the video continues to play on until the video ends. I have to then cold reset from the switch on chassis. What can be the probable reason behind this?

I tried with xine-ui , gxine and Kaffeine). But that video has no problem in mplayer or VLC! this is gxine report on video meta info:

Basically I've just set up a very basic network connecting my vista laptop to fedora 10 laptop via ethernet. I download from the fedora box to an external hd which I can access from both computers. So, my question is, is it possible to have the same video play on both machines, in sync?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a Canon Vixia HF 200 Camcorder. It stores data on an SD card. I was able without difficulty to copy the files to my Fedora 13 (64 bit) system. There are a bunch of .mts files in a Stream Folder, which I assume contain the videos I made. Some searching with google suggested mplayer might be able to play these videos. When I try that, I get an Mplayer 'boombox' icon playing the audio, but no video.
How to Get info about state of things at present with high definition video.and Linux? If necessary I can use the Windows software that came with the camera, but I would like to do as much as I can with Fedora. To start, I would like to play the videos and also to write them to a DVD which I can play on my DVD player, BlurRay if possible.
No video from mplayer/xine/vlc with HDMI connection I just plugged in my new monitor using a HDMI cable. Display is perfect everywhere except in video players. Flash video worksfine. I guess there's some overlay setting that needs to be changed?
VLC plays some bizarre 'ASCII art' thing instead of video files. Other players give me audio but no picture.
TVTime is the same - sound but no image
Also, there is no sound via HDMI from the screen but that's a secondary issue.
the movie i downloaded plays for only 19 sec and stops saying you will be redirected to microsoft download page. the file is 700 Mb. i installed w32 codecs after searching through many threads but still my vlc doesnt play the file.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a USB Live disk and installed Fedora 12 to my Asus EEE 1005HA (12 inch screen). The machine boots fine, but Hardware Graphics acceleration is not working correctly. If I stop X11, and type "Xorg -configure", the Xorg utility recieves a segmentation fault and exits, and the resulting xorg.conf file does not work correctly. The error is "(EE) open /dev/fb0: No such file or directory". All the correct packages are installed, and there is no logical reason why it is failing. The rest of the hardware on the EEE works fine.

I am trying to play embedded mp3 content in FF. When I click on the link to play the mp3, a new tab opens up and all I get is a grey screen. Does anybody out there have any ideas on this? I have run Autoten and installed all of the necessary codecs.

Okay I think the problem was with needing a GUI.
Using this instead works, but i only hear the sound when I log in. I think something needs to be doen to start the audio perhaps?

Trying to play dvd that worked under 11.1 and original dvd version of openSUSE 11.2. It failed after a update.
Not sure which one since I do not normally play dvd movies on my system.
Checked all multimedia rpms and they are all from packman except kaffeine which is KDE4 version.
