I have just installed XBMC (yum install xbmc) and noticed that the option where you can control it via the HTTP protocol is gone. Just as a curiosity I have installed it on my windows machine and the http server option is there. Does anyone knows what you have to do to fix this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedLet me sketch the problem here, I'm using the CentOS 5.5 distribution to setup ah linux media server with XMBC. To do this I followed the steps on this blog
when I want to execute the bootstrap script i receive following error:

If you look closely, you'll see that the third sentence say's that autoreconf is not using gettext. After a long search, I suspect it throws the error because of the fact that my system doesn't contain the gettext-lib package. The problem is I can't find the package anywere... I can't yum it and on the internet I only find the gettext and gettext-devel packages...
I installed Nagios on my Ubuntu 10.04 server using apt-get and when I accessed the web console, everything was OK. I made some changes to apache (creating some new virtual sites) and since then Nagios gives me a warning message for HTTP with the message, HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found. The sites that I created are working perfectly. I noticed that the attemps are 4/4. Does this need to be reset or does Nagios automatically reset that once it detects the issue is resolved?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen I connected to the L32 HDTV over the HDMI cable, picture came up, and I thought great, plug & play. But the title bar and taskbar were missing and I soon learned that this cheap Vizio TV has a native resolution of 1366x768 and simply upscales and chops off what it considers "overscan" when you drive it at the proper 720p 1280x720. To add to the problems, it doesn't report the correct EDID modes (look at your /var/log/Xorg.0.log to see the probes or install and use the read-edid package) so 1366x768 isn't an option out of the box. I spent days mucking around with /etc/X11/xorg.conf with custom Modelines, strange options and copying confs from other threads, trying to get it working at 1366x768 or 1360x768 or 1368x768 (some variations seem to work for some people)
In the end, I didn't have to touch xorg.conf at all =) All I had to do was install the newer NVIDIA 195 drivers!!! Then you get the lovely Overscan Compensation slider in nvidia-settings, and all is well. First, you will have to apt-get remove the old drivers (probably -185 or -180). Install apt-show-versions for an easy way to do that. I had a bunch of junk, I just removed all packages that had nvidia-someversionnumber in the package name.

I am trying to edit my http configuration (menu System -> Administration -> Server Settings -> HTTP) and it seems to be impossible. My Server Name comes up empty and I want to change the default Webmaster email address root@localhost to something else, but I can't change anything. I enter mu new server name and e-mail address, but when I click on the OK button I get a popup box which asks me if I want to save and exit. I click on the Yes button, and the box disappears. HTTP Server configuration does not exit and my changes are not saved.

unable to retrieve.Here is the step what i did.
1)I copy the entire my rpm of F12 DVD to the /var/www/html/rpm
2) and start the http server (my http server is start without any problem).
3)on the client side machine i booted from f12 dvd after askmethod i select url.
4)and enter the ip address of 192.168.10.2(for client ip address),192.168.10.1(gateway),and 192.168.10.1(nameserver)
5)after that i enter the [URL] this is my http.conf file

I have fedora 13, and installed asterisk.. Before I had centos and have my asterisk running to test and learn.. but in fedora I see there is a http miniserver for admin asterisk..
I edited enable, port and ip in the file http.con but when I try [url] I got 404 page no found Asterisk server...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been trying for a day to get sounds working on my HTPC which is running Ubuntu Server (Natty) and XBMC from the repositories. I have so far had no luck, with not so much as a peep on any channel - analog, optical or over HDMI.
My setup is a ASUS AT3IONT-I with an Intel Atom CPU. I think this is a common configuration which should not require any special treatment, and I also have a friend with the same hardware and no problems running XBMC on OpenSUSE.
XBMC is installed according to the instructions here [URL] with a user named xbmc etc. It works wonderfully in every aspect except that the sound is missing alltogether.
I've been following [URL] for troubleshooting but have now run out of ideas, which is why I'm asking you.

setting up a media server on my computer i got sabayon linux running. i have it installed and setup through the guide on the xbmc wiki. the video files are able to play and be seen in libary mode on my computer. but when i turn on the ps3 the media server is visible except when i go into the videos or music folders its empty no files at all.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't have a "CPU MHz" line in my /proc/cpuinfo. I wonder if this is because I installed a 32-bit Ubuntu (10.10, Maverick) on 64-bit (dual core) AMD hardware. Various apps depend on the "CPU MHz" value and simply refuse to run without it. Is it, indeed, a 32-bit software on 64-bit hardware thing? If so, is there any fix short of replacing (clean-installing) the whole system in 64-bit?

When I was running 10.04 I was able to select the sleep option in XFCE's logout menu and it worked perfectly. I've just done a fresh install of 10.10 and now the sleep option is missing. How can I bring it back?
I'm running a Sony Vaio Laptop.
I downloaded the release version of 11.04 desktop 32bit today and ran into a problem with the upgrade. Not sure if I missed a step or not, but when I booted the CD to do an Install of 11.04 desktop 32bit over 10.10 desktop 32bit I expected to see the upgrade option similar to what is in this link (red arrow pointing to it):[URL]... On my install screen all the other options were there except the upgrade.
Since I was on a schedule for this particular computer I am doing the Update Manager Network upgrade instead but I have 3 other computers to do as well. Any ideas on what I might have missed? Should I have booted to Live version first instead of Install then look for an upgrade option somewhere? I read something that alluded to that on a website.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe problem is this: My movie collection is growing that large that it no longer fits on the 3TB storage I have available for it in my server.therefore want to start using external disks, but as I don't want to waste electricty I want to switch this drive on only when I want to watch a movie which is on this drive. This drive will be connected to my server running Fedora 15 x64. The movies will (most likely) be played by a machine running XBMC on an Ubuntu minimal install (10.04). Currently I use NFS to create a mount on this machine to my media folder.The question: How can I best setup this external drive and shares etc so to have these movies available from my XBMC machine when I switch on the drive, but nothing crashing when the drive is off (while the XBMC machine stays on)?

I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my desktop which also have windows xp installed. After the installation I could boot to both Ubuntu and Windows. I then installed some updates from the update manager in Ubuntu 10.10 and after this the windows option in the grub boot menu is gone. The boot_info_script055.sh returned the following result

I've managed to work through most of the initial hiccups and get a smooth system.However I've noticed that the 'System Logs' option in YAST is missing. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there some supplimental package that I should install? If it was removed from 11.3, is there an easy way to find and read these logs?

The nautilus sendto dialog avaiable from the right-click menu is working normally, but doesn't include the evolution "send to email" option. I have evolution installed and it's working normally.
just recently, while attempting to boot to windows 7, i happened to select the wrong boot option by mistake, that is the windows 7 recovery (something like that, cant remember it specifically, but the word 'recovery' is there). the option has been there eversince i installed ubuntu 11.04 on my system, of which i cant find the answer as to why it existed there. so once i selected it (which was by mistake), it took me into some recovery process which i abandoned as quickly. it restarted and the windows 7 option was no longer there. the windows 7 recovery option, however, is still there. How to get my windows 7 boot option back?
