The Windows version of Firefox does play Shockwave, but it's ugly as sin, I'd rather not be depending on wine for the web browser, and worst I can't get Java installed in wine - I really want one browser with Flash, Shockwave, Authorware, and Java support (see this thread for the background).I've heard Crossover can do it, but have yet to try this.
how I can get Shockwave working in the Linux version of Firefox? Changing distros is an option, if anyone has success stories from a different distro.

The problem is that none of the video players doesn't play video, they show only black window and play audio.
I have Fedora 11 Leonidas, fully up-to-date.
I have installed rpmfusion and livna repository.
I have installed following packages:
When I try to play video with totem, it doesn't output any error, but just doesn't play video.
with mplayer:
xine and kaffeine just say:
vlc:
I tried several different files, which works perfectly in windows and ubuntu.
I installed windows binary codecs for mplayer to /usr/lib/codec/
Fedora :: DVD Doesn't Play ?
Jul 30, 2011This is about a DVD that I have that was recorded from a VCR tape, if that makes any difference. I've been trying to rip the DVD to my hard drive, without much luck. I just tried to play it, and I'm finding that I can't even do that, so maybe I need to put the horse in front of the cart and get playback working. The video has chapters, but no titles.
I've got Kaffiene, Movie Player,VLC and Xine. I've gotten livinia and followed the guide here:[url]
I have libdvdcss (I think that's what it's called). I ran"ln -sf /dev/scd1 /dev/dvd" per a post that leigh123linux gave.
Kaffiene shows " Cannot find plugin for MRL"dvd:///dev/sr0"
Xine shows "The stream "There is no MRL" uses an unsupported codec: video codec MPEG 1/2 (0x0) null"
Movie Player shows the opening frame as a thumbnail, but doesn't play it.
VLC seems to think it's a regular file.

Nov 3, 2009I installed shockwave to try and get a game working. The game ended up not working correctly and shockwave installe da plugin to play flash content in Firefox. So now Firefox won't play flash content. I removed Shckwave but Shockwave left the plugin for Firefox. I cannot seem to getrid of it I even reintalled the flash plugin to no avil. So how to get rid of the Shockwave plugin from Firefox. Then I can reinstall the flash plugin.

Basically the problem is, I can't play store bought DVDs, but I can play my copies of them.
When using MDPlayer that I added to Ubuntu, I can play the copies of my store bought DVDs, but not the originals. However, when using Ubuntu 9.10's movie player, it wont do anything and I'll have to do a force quit to close it.
I learned that this may because there is a repository of packages that cannot be included into the Ubuntu distribution, as I'm sure you already knew.
...Yet, Most people have worked around these issues.

Running the Terminal, I added the bash command that adds Medibuntu's repositiry to Ubuntu. It also adds Medibuntu's GPG key to the keyring.
(The sudo wget - etc etc etc --quiet update)
Then I jumped down to the... "This command should be run in the Terminal, after adding the repository:" ...And did that. (sudo sed -e 's/ etc etc etc /medibuntu.list)
Fedora :: Totem Doesn't Play M4V Videos?
Jun 17, 2010I downloaded a video in .m4v format and I only use TOTEM to watch videos.
When the player start the video, totem look for by Quicktime demuxer, then it finds gstreamer-plugins-good.i686 to install. I click the "Install" button, but after it show that all packages are plugin already installed.
And after, it shows a ERROR
How do I do the TOTEM works with .m4v format ?

May 28, 2011I'm running Fedora and Gnome on a laptop and I'd like to play an audio file. I installed xmms and the mp3 plugin via yum, and started xmms amd tried to play the file. The progress bar advances as if the file is playing, but there's no sound in my headphones. I do have gnome volume slider bar set to the highest value. I tried running alsamixer and the volume is set to the highest level (however +/- causes alsamixer to exit, and not change the volume level like the F1-Help page says). What can I do?I tried the Gnome filesystem browser and clicked on mp3 or wav file which brings up the totem music player. Again, the progress bar advances as if the file is being played, but no sound.
