I just installed Fedora 11 on my PC and can't seem to get the Win key to work at all I tried putting entries in xmodmap, tried modifying xorg.conf, and also tried setting altwin:super_win in the config settings. But nothing seems to work. Somehow, my Win key seems to be working as Meta instead of Super. From emacs, if I press Win+x, it works like Meta+x.

how to use the <Super>ButtonX (<Super>Button1 for example for the enabled Compiz Screenshot plugin)? I also notice there is configurable buttons 1 throught 20 under the various options. At first I thought the ButtonX was a mouse button. Maybe it is with some anticipation of there being eventually being a possible 20 buttons on the mouse. I know the Super key is the Key with the Windows logo on it. But I don't know what to do to get the needed Super Key / Button combination. After having enabled Compiz's Screenshot plugin by its default, I don't get an image after hitting any of the Super key and mouse button combinations. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04.

However, if I bind Caps Lock to Super Key it works when entering a key combination. I'm also using a Logitech MK520 keyboard.

Is it that the stock squeeze kernel doesn't have driver for this particular card? Or I'm missing some bits in configuration? Do I need to upgrade kernel (is any later kernel available in backports)? When I had Windows (XP x64 or 7 64-bits) installed on my computer, my LG super multi drive worked fine. But now, with Ubuntu 10.10 64-bits, this drive doesn't work. When I click on the physical button to eject the drive, nothing happens.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Kubuntu 10.10, with KDE 4.5.2, what I've noticed is every so often my Tab, Caps, Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Super keys stop working. I'd been running Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome and hadn't ever come across this issue. I'm not sure if this is related to KDE 4.5.2 or is possibly because I updated to 10.10 and would also occur on a Gnome environment.If I switch to my virtual machine (VMWare Workstation 7.1.2 build-301548 which I was able to get working on 10.10 using URL.... the keys work within that but if I switch back to my host desktop they stop working.To fix it I've found logging out or unplugging the keyboard and plugging it into a different USB port fixes it.

I have an EEEPC and wanty to make use of the ASUS SHE. However, I don't want a program that automatically changes performnce modes each time I go to AC or battery power (Jupiter). Jupiter also causes lag when I suspend the EEEPC pr when I plug in the AC adapter. I pretty often work on battery when I'm at home and I don't need powersavings then. I want a way to be able to turn on the power saving mode (I've heart it does more then just undercloaking the processor) whenever I want, but I don't want those modes to be changed automatically.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI cloned F14 with Clonezilla from 80GB to 320GB hdd(both sata disks), and then resized the partitions with GParted.But I can not boot into fedora on the new/bigger disk, it stops and the display writes "Loading stage 1.5" if I remember corectly,I tried to fix it with the live cd but with no efect.
Then i found Super Grub Disk live CD, and with that i tried to use their fix, which was the same as with the Fedora live cd i tried before, again no efect.Then i played around with Super Grub, and found the option to boot GNU/Linux indirectly, and with that metod i got results, found my menu.lst file and chose the kernel i wanted and it boots into desktop.
But i would need a more permanent solution, because now i allways have to use the same procedure with Super Grub Disk CD to boot into my Fedora 14.
I have installed a new TV Tuner Card. AverTV Super 009 TV Tuner Card from Avermedia. I am using Fedora 14. How can I make the above card work for me? (I am not proficient in Linux.)

When I click okay, I expected a prompt to put in my password, but everything just closes.
a windows installation on a fake-raid, /dev/mapper/ddf1_AR01p1 and an xtra penguinFS on ddf1_AR01p2. I simply tried to boot "Super Grub Virus" from a usb stick ... and the $%!($ER hosed the array. Luckily, my day to day OS and important data is on a different set of disks ... but my BIOS boot target is set to the fake-raid, so it did not kill anything genuinely important ... I just got lucky.
I would really like to restore the windoZe partition as it WAS. I actually use it a couple of times each year. I would just reinstall the OS ... really NOTHING important on those 2 disks, but I have no idea where my XP disk can be found ... but I know the xp installation is hiding in /dev/null ....
I can watch dvds and videos (avi, mpg, etc) with mplayer with no problem (indicating to me that the video drivers are working properly). However, any "online" videos (....., etc) are CRAZY choppy. Probably about 1 fps. It is like this with both chrome and firefox.

That user name and password are the same that I now use to log into ubuntu. But now I am unable to log into super user using the terminal. When I try to log in to the super user account it says that the password is wrong. During the whole installation process only once did wubi ask me to enter password and I am using the same password. My windows user name and password are the same as what I entered during installation.

Into the details:
The problem is, i go into a website and it seems to renderize by chunks, ie i enter my favorite PC hardware forum and it is like this when loading: Processors...1sec....Vid cards....1sec...Memory...and on and on until the bottom of the page is reached. The normal behavior is: Click...forum loaded ,as on windows.
By default i use my wireless conection, but also tried wired one to no avail. Also tried it from the live cd and i have the same problem. Some sitess like google, gmail and ..... load normally(instantly). I've tried disabling ipv6 as adviced in several parts and had no results. I used the default firefox 3.6.6, firefox 3.6.7 and chrome with the same results.

The key gets remapped, however Super is not recognized as a modifier key, unlike with a standard layout I've used as a comparison. What puzzles me is that the left Windows key, which I never refer to in my custom layout stops working as well.

In GNOME/ubuntu however, apparently there is this odd limitation in that the "Super Key" cannot be both a standalone key, and a modifier key. Is it still the case? Currently running Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10. Apparently in KDE this works, and in Windows it's worked since Windows95. How can we achieve this functionality in Ubuntu/gnome?
