Fedora Servers :: Apache Will Not Pick Up More Than One Site

Apr 13, 2010

On Fedora 12, I guess this is a security setting. How do I get Apache to pick up more than one website in my document root directory. It only picks up one and denies me permission to view the others on my document root directory. This problem doesn't exist in XAMMP. How do I go about it please.

Ubuntu Servers :: Setup A Home Web For Personal Site Using 11.04 And Apache

Jul 23, 2011

I am trying to set up a home web server for my personal site using Ubuntu 11.04 and Apache. I have set up a user called www and given it FTP access to its home area (/home/www) using vsftpd. I then edited /etc/apache2/sites-available/default and set the DocumentRoot directive to /home/www. When I made a test index.html file in that directory it worked fine. Then I FTP'd to the server (as www) from another PC and uploaded the site files. Now when I try to access the site I get an error 403 (forbidden).Obviously I'm doing something wrong here but I'm not sure what. What should I do to fix this.

Fedora Servers :: Site Works On F9 But Not F12?

May 3, 2010

I am running a website using a Fedora 9/ Apache 2 platform. I have added two new disks to the same server and installed Fedora 12 (I don't have both sets of disks in at the same time either the old ones with F9 or the new ones with F12). Having copied 'all' of the settings over to the new F12 installation it only serves pages on localhost not on the external IP as the F9 version does.

I have now installed F9 (got rid of F12) onto the new disks and copied the settings from the old installation onto the new disks and the server once again serves up pages. The only hardware changes are the disks being popped in and out between restarts as I swap between the old and new installations.

Hopefully there is some obvious (to someone) difference between F12 and F9 that would account for this.I have messed with settings for a while now and am almost at the point of paying for RHEL to see if that does the job.

Ubuntu Servers :: Access Web Site When Site's Domain Name / User's Local Server's Domain Name Are Same

Feb 18, 2010

In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

Fedora Servers :: Way To Specify Privoxy To Not Filter Specific Site

Nov 7, 2009

I am running a basic squid + privoxy combo for web caching/filtering proxy and it works fine. I'm basically running a stock config w/ a few minor edits to allow the relevant hosts access etc.now I am trying to find an easy way to specify privoxy to not filter a specific site (which it breaks). I have tried wading through the privoxy manual + google but I find the config file incredibly complicated. Are there any experts out there who can tell me: what is the easiest way to tell privoxy to 'pass through' a specific website?

Only from internal lan. I have secondary IP address added for SSL site, and we are natting that address from that outside. I can hit it if I change my hosts file to that local IP on the server itself, but when using external NAT address it never hits the server. But if you telnet to that external address with port 80 or 443 it works.

Here is a sample of my config with servername and ip addresses changed:

Ubuntu :: Script To Create User, Directories And Site In Apache?

May 24, 2011

I've had a recent idea to have PHP take information from a form, save it to a file, which in turn is read from a local script as root (cron) which will create the user account, proper directories, add the website to the Apache sites, and reload Apache. anyone actually accomplished this before? And if so, can I get some links or some ideas to possibly help me on the process of getting started?

Fedora Servers :: CentOS 5.2 - Apache And New PHP

Feb 7, 2009

I've installed a server (CentOS5.2) - and I need a new(er) PHP, so, I get me one. This is what I did:
- unzipped the bundle in the root's home
- of course, I entered the folder
- entered "./configure"
- entered "make" - the compile didn't come back with errors
- entered "make test" - there was a _possible_ fail...
- entered "make install"

I noticed there's nothing in the /libs, where I'd expect a module (lib5php5.so) to exist. there is one, but it belongs to the older PHP. It's located in ets/httpd/modules (a link BTW - but I think that's normal). At the console I type:
"which php" and get a path to PHP /usr/local/bin/php
"php --version" and get 5.2.8 and some extra info
in the server I entered "<?php phpinfo(); .>" in a PHP page, as I call that page, I get ... 5.1.6 as version.

Of course, I suspect Apache to have the OLD PHP in its config, (the old lib5php.so) and that I may have to overwrite the old one with the newly compiled one, if I had it. I ran a locate on the system, but no other lib5php.so files exist. Where did I loose track?

I moved index.php with phpinfo() to daloradius (overwriting old index.php) and same stuff happens. Error 403. What am I doing wrong?

Fedora Servers :: Apache Binding Only To Ipv6?

Feb 14, 2009

I just installed FC 10 and have apache running with the default config. the problem is that it is only listening on ipv6 for ports 80 and 443

Code:

Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:587 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2059/exim
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:465 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2059/exim

here is the only part in the httpd.conf file that seems to have anything to do with this:

Code:

Listen 80

which from my understanding should make it listen on all interfaces, ipv4 and ipv6

Fedora Servers :: Apache Mod_proxy Abuse?

Mar 29, 2009

I'm running Fedora 10 with Apache 2.2.11 and I noticed something a little strange going on. This morning, logwatch alerted me to the following concerning apache:

Code:

Sure enough, the apache access log file shows the following:

Code:

mod_proxy is disabled in the apache config file anyway (default mod_proxy commented out):

Code:

When I tried to access my web server to check, it was down, and I got the following when checking its status:

Code:

So I checked the apache error logs and found the following:

Code:

There's nothing wrong with line 188 of the config file:

Code:

It seems fairly apparent that there has been an attempt to use my web server as a proxy to gain access to other servers, so I have a couple of questions:

1) I presume that the attack failed, since mod_proxy was disabled?

2) Why did my web server crash? (It has never done this before). It seems very suspicious that it tried to restart, but failed to load proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so on the same night that someone had attempted to use mod_proxy. I have since successfully started apache without making any configuration changes.

3) Do I need to worry that any part of my system has been compromised?

Fedora Servers :: Setup The ERuby On Apache?

Code:

AddType application/x-httpd-eruby .rhtml
Action application/x-httpd-eruby /cgi-bin/eruby
DirectoryIndex index.rhtml

I have a file named "index.rhtml" in a folder called "test" that's in the root of my server. When I try to get to the file I get this, though:

Code:

You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/eruby/test/index.rhtml on this server.
