What packages or services should I install so that my window client can type "\192.168.1.3" in file explorer to access the folder directly?

Mar 7, 2011Our requirement is not to use the default SSH port, So I have edited /etc/ssh/sshd_config file and changed the default port 22 to 2022, and I have restarted the sshd daemon. Now port 2022 is open in all servers however when I ssh to the remote hosts I cannot login directly. I have to use the below command to connect to the remote server, I don't want to provide SSH port number info while login to remote servers, How to achieve this.
ssh -p 2022 server02

In Windows, I can use: Code: \name.of.server.ca and after I type my userID and password I can map the folder to a drive letter (say, X:) In Fedora, I can connect remotely with Connect to Server using sftp/ssh (although I've not been able to store the userID and password temporarily). What I'd like is to mount or map the remote folder in a way that would allow me to access it from applications (for example, to call a files on the server from within LaTeX ).

Dec 27, 2010I've using RedHat/Fedora for years now, and every now and then I encounter the following situation :
I open a folder and it's empty. The folder was containing files and I'm 100% sure I didn't deleted them myself. Each time the folder is deep inside the hierarchy and is among other untouched folders. Sometimes it's a folder I never use, sometimes it's a folder I use almost everyday. The missing content is not large (a few regular files).
I'm currently running F13 but I've seen this behavior before on previous versions. This is kind of scary all my work is there and my backups are also done on a a linux backup server.
I'm puzzled, I cannot see any specificities to these folders, I had no crash or cold reboot, nothing I see can explain that. Could it be related to ext3?

The only problem i have is the remote desktop
I have set the password in preferences/remote desktop run command vncpasswd and set password
In services vncserver i get this message......... xsetroot: unable to open display '' Xvnc is stopped and vncserver failed. The error was: xsetroot: unable to open display '' Shutting down VNC server: 1:user1[FAILED]

I know the physical location of the SSH folder can be traced into Home folder -> .gvfs (it is a hidden folder). However I want the SSH folder to be easily accessible on the file system. Something very similar to "Expand Drive" or "SFTP drive" in windows.

Mar 6, 2010I have a wired problem on my Fedora 12 x64, up-to-date machine. Sometimes (not always), when i try to open my Home-folder Nautilus starts but doesn't show the content. The Sub-dirs like Documents and Downloads work without a problem.
To isolate the problem i tried to "ls -la" my home folder but ls hangs. When i only "ls -l" (without the a) it works. When i "ls -la" my home as root it works. My guess is, that there is a problem with the .gvfs-folder.

Aug 27, 2010I have a remote drive mounted on my system(ubuntu 10.04 x64), and i have the contents of that drive backed up to dropbox. the problem is, if i unmount the drive, the files disappear from dropbox. is there a way to mirror the contents of the network drive to a localfolder(preferably in such a way that all changes and file deletions are changed on the local folder instantly, but unmounting doesn't delete it all)? It looks like rsync would work, but im not sure how to make it work.
