Fedora Networking :: Ping Working But Internet Not Working From Dhcp Clients

Jul 17, 2009

I have a strange problem for internet. My clients (winxp - S2) can't get internet.Let me explain my scenerios. Fedora 10 with lan (eth0) having direct internet from dsl model, client (XP service pack 2) can use samba shares using dhcp (wlan0) installed in Fedora 10 box. client can ping my linux box.Now problem is: client (dosbox) can ping the google ip address (i.e ping 74.125.39.106) but can't use 'ping www.google.com'. That means ping with ip works for internet from my client. My linux box can. I can use internet from FC10 but can't use iexplorer from my client to have internet. I have enable ipmasquarding in Firewall and dhcpd is running on wlan0 for dynamic ip address of my clients.Can someone suggest me what kind of problem having I? What should i do to success iexplorer for internet? what possibly am i missing?

Fedora Networking :: Cannot Get USB Wireless Working?

Feb 16, 2009

Have tried both Mythdora 10.21 32bit and 64bit (Fedora 10)o get my wireless to work.Have looked at output from various suggested commands and logs and nothing jumps out. Would appreciate any suggestions. Have attached log with all commands identified and output. Wired ethernet works with no problem.

The router shows no connection activity on the wireless portion from the Linux box. I do have a laptop that I have connected to the router before and after attempting to connect with the Linux system.The only out of the ordinary message I see is (from dmesg):wlan0: privacy configuration mismatch and mixed-cell disabled - disassociate

Fedora Networking :: Bittorrent 9 Not Working

Mar 15, 2009

using fedora 9 i've problems getting bittorent to work. i have an external kerio firewall but my messages seem not to get thrue. I read about port forwarding, as a way to speed up bittorent I interprete that as bundling the port series 6881 till 6999 to ferdora:6881 so all the ports are channeld to the bittorent machine and 1 port.(tcp and Udp)

that how I did set it up, but i seem not to get a lot of throughput i guess Maybe 1kb per week, I do not know if this is what is seen as a slow bittorent.... on the firewall i see a lot of messages running arround but nothing seems to advance

what can I do, verify to get this running. (I temporarly switched off fedora's firewall( internal) is there a way to structuraly test bittorent? is my forwarding rule correct? (input multiple ports to single port?

Fedora Networking :: Atheros NIC Not Working In 11?

Sep 27, 2009

I installed Fedora 11 on an Acer Aspire 5516 and everything works except my networking interface card. In Windows XP it is listed as an "Atheros Ar8132 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller" and it works. In Fedora 11 it is listed as "Attansic Technology Crop. unknown (OX1062)" and does not work. I have tried the default driver "ath5k" and also downloaded madwifi and modprobed "ath-pci" but I still get the same problem. What is weird is that the wireless does work. Is this chip not supported yet in Linux?

Fedora Networking :: How To Get BCM4318 Working On F10

I have been trying to get this card working for a couple of hours without much luck. I was excited to find the thread, but it doesn't seem to work for me for some reason. [URL]. I tried the manual setup method listed, but nothing shows up in Network Manager under wireless cards? Is there something I have to do to get it to show up? I think everything copied to /lib/firmware/b43 for me ok?

Running /sbin/lspci -nn reveals the following:

Fedora :: FC12 - Networking Isn't Working ?

Mar 5, 2010

I installed Fedora Core 12 on a Dell Latitude 610 laptop. Networking isn't working. I tried to start networking with '/etc/rc.d/init.d network start': there were no errors or warning messages, but before and afterwards, I could not ping anything.

I tried to configure and start networking with system-config-network. The ethernet network card shows up, but the activate button is greyed out.

I can ping the loopback address 127.0.0.1 after I start networking with '/etc/rc.d/init.d network start' but I don't really know what that means.

lspci tells me that my network "card" is a "NexXtreme BCM5751 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express".

I know the eternt cable is good because I used it on another machine.

Fedora Networking :: Internet Not Working In 12 / Get It To Work?

Dec 15, 2009

I have installed Fedora 12 on my computer. Earlier I had tried Arch Linux & Linux Mint 7 on the same but on all the three OS's I was unable to get net working. I connect to the net via DSL modem(MTNL BB) & connect it to the PC via ethernet port. Though Fedora 12 shows that the network is connected but I'm unable to browse or chat.

Here is a screensnap of network information;

Pinging google.com returns with an unknown host error while pinging 192.168.1.1 yeilds no results. The cursor gives busy status & upon manually cancelling the ping, I get 100% packet loss. I connect the same modem via USB to my laptop but the internet works fine there.

Fedora Networking :: Can't Get NFS File Sharing Working

Feb 24, 2010

So, I have 2 computers both running fedora 12. I have installed NFS, all of the nfs utilities, and the system-config-nfs thing. I have unblocked the ports in the firewall. I am certain that NFS is running (or at least that when I nmap myself, an nfs port is open).However, when I go into nautilus and go to network, it shows windows network, but no other computers.If I run nmap on localhost, or on my OWN IP, it shows that it's up. and NFS is up. but when I NMap the other computer, it's hidden and blocking ping probes (though using nmap -PN will penetrate that mask, and show that it too has NFS open.)

So, how can I get these two computers to recognize each other? or am I doing this whole thing all wrong? I'm just trying to set up file sharing.

Fedora Networking :: PPPoE Not Working After Update?

Feb 24 14:35:13 Updated: 1:qt-x11-4.6.2-1.fc12.i686

[Code]....

P.S.: I have another F12 system, on a second HDD, that I haven't updated since two weeks ago and I can connect to the internet with it. So this seems like a package correlation problem. I think it might affect more users than just me, especially those who only have F12 installed on their computers.

If this affects more than just me, I think the guise at Fedora should offer a script or a rpm to be used offline to, whether downgrade the "ppp" package, or to update the "/usr/lib/pppd/2.4.4/nm-pppd-plugin.so" plugin.
