Ubuntu Multimedia :: Tuner Card Not Feeding Sound Through Onboard Sound?

Aug 9, 2011

I am setting up a mythtv/xmbc box on Ubuntu 10.10 (natty does not install on my hardware). I have a Sabrent TV PCIRC tuner card, which seems to work fine with the proper card and tuner settings. My on-board sound is HDA-Intel surround sound, which I have configured as analog duplex.

Currently the sound works fine through my speakers plugged into any jack on the back of the PC (two speakers, one jack). I can watch ripped movies and listen to music. The TV tuner is pumping sound from its external jack -- if I hook it up directly to the speakers it works fine. I can feed the Tuner's sound to the line-in on my motherboard, but nothing comes out. In the sound manager, i have the input device selected and the input level shows that the sound is coming in through the connector, and I can test the speakers and they work fine, but they don't seem to be communicating that the sound coming in needs to be pumped out through the speakers.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Compro M1F TV Tuner 10.10 No Sound

Nov 6, 2010

I have a Compro Videomate M1F TV tuner card (internal PCI). After installing ubuntu 10.10 I noticed my card was not recognized and tvtime showed no image no sound. After a Google search, I found differente threads and I tried the following: I've created saa1734.conf in directory /etc/modprobe.d (with administrative rights) with these lines:

Quote:

alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 saa7134
options i2c-algo-bit bit_test=1
options saa7134 card=99 tuner=59 secam=dk
options tuner secam=d

After that, I rebooted the computer and after starting tvtime, I can see all the tv channels (great) but I have No SOUND and I don't know how to deal with that and couldn't find a solution.I know there is a problem with OSS not being supported anymore or something like that and I am a bit confused.

Ubuntu :: Mixing Up TV-Tuner And Sound Card?

Nov 17, 2010

A while ago I reinstalled Ubuntu on my PC when I felt that Windows was about to give up. I'm glad I did. A lot of the applications I had on my Mac had equivalents on Linux, I was delighted and I haven't been needing Windows at all.

Up until recently everything was working fine, but now I think Linux is mixing up my Sound Card with my TV Tuner. When I call someone using Skype, it ends up airing white noise, however, if I've watched TV prior to that, it ends up airing the sound from whatever channel I was watching last. If I turn on the video calling function (despite the fact that I haven't got any webcam plugged in) it ends up airing video from that same channel.

It just started doing this randomly, and as I did some experiments, I discovered that it does this with all audio-input applications. (Sound Recorder etc,)

So I installed Pulseaudio device manager, and I discovered that my soundcard isn't listed under output devices.

Debian Hardware :: TV-Tuner With Alsa With Jessie No Sound

Jul 11, 2015

I've got a Leadtek TV2000 Expert tuner and it was connected with my soundcard on motherboard succesfully. Before many years it worked percectly with my early Ubuntu version 7.04 and 8.04 - that used the AUX for soundlevels in the alsamixer. In TVTIME I've get all my TV-channels but without sound...

Always when I run tvtime it sends me:

"mixer: Can't open device /dev/mixer, mixer volume and mute unavailable.
mixer: No such mixer channel 'aux', using channel 'line'."

I've got this in the .asoundrc file:

pcm.!dmix {
type dmix
ipc_key 1024
slave {
pcm "hw:0,0"
channels 6
period_size 1024

[Code] ....

And everything works with sound - but tvtime can't...

Ubuntu Multimedia :: ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 9000 TV Tuner No Sound

Mar 14, 2010

I have an ATI All-In-Wonder 9000 AGP4x video card with TV tuner function. I following the description on [URL] where I found a how-to for enabling TV tuner. The tuner works in xawtv and avview but without sound. I plugged the cable in from tuner to my sound card and try to increase volume and/or enable mute on/off but nothing to hear. The sound card line-in input works correctly, because when I attaching my MP3 player I hear sound over the sound card. I think maybe have a register accessing/writing error which handle the TV Tuner sound chips to turn on/off. (the tuner works correctly in Windows XP). I'm using Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS with x86_64 (amd64) actually. The lspci output for Video Card:

General :: Recording Sound From TV Tuner Card Thorough Alsa Driver On Ubuntu

May 28, 2011

I have a TV tuner card with its output connected to the CD in of an integrated sound card. Video is OK, and the sound also gets thorough (to the line out) when running xawtv, for example. However, I found no ways yet for recording it.I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with ALSA drivers. Pulseaudio was running in the beginning, now it doesn't, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

capturing with VLC, using plughw:0,0 as the audio capture device. (Result: no sound track at all in the resulting video.)arecord, then aplay.alsamixer. The capture source is set to "CD" (and on the input side it's also "CD" where I can effectively modify the volume for audio going through...), but still no result.

Ubuntu Installation :: Set Up A Tv Tuner Card And Ruined OS?

Nov 19, 2010

A few nights ago, I was trying to set up a tv tuner card and I somehow ruined my OS. When I log into Ubuntu, all I get is errors and a blank screen. Since it was an older version, I decided to upgrade to the latest version, 10.10. So I figure that I get a live cd, transfer all my wanted files to an external drive, then install the new OS. I got the live cd and when I boot it, I get some picture at the bottom of my screen with some stick figure and what looks like a piece of film, then my monitor resets and says "Out of range" What can I do to fix this problem? I am currently on a Knoppix 2.6 live cd.

Ubuntu Installation :: 5550HD And Radeon Driver - Conflict With HVR1600 Tuner

Jan 9, 2011

I just installed Kubuntu 10.10 , been using gnome Ubuntu for a few years. At the same time I bought a new video card , the VisionTech 5550HD. My Nvidia card seemed to conflict with my HVR1600 tuner , so I thought I would switch to ATI. With the FGRLX driver , there was an error in the xorg.log , so I thought I would just use the Radion Driver. It works , but glxinfo shows "OpenGL renderer string: Software Rasterizer". I assume this means no hardware acceleration. Is this normal. Graphics seem a bit choppy, I would like to get one driver or the other to perform well. By the way, I have a few problems with Kubuntu, but over all I am really liking it

Fedora Installation :: F12 64 Bit - Starts The Boot Process And Then It Hangs

Dec 28, 2009

I'm attempting to install F12 64 bit. I currently have F10 running on this system. I'd like to do a clean install. I'm using the DVD. I boot the computer with the DVD in. I choose the first option (Install or upgrade). It starts the boot process and then it hangs. [URL]

After asking at #Fedora I was given the advice to boot with `intel_iommu=off`. That gets me slightly further in the process. It gets to the point where anaconda is starting. Then all heck breaks loose. It appears the monitor loses the signal from the computer (power light turns red just like if the computer was off). The caps lock and the scroll lock lights on the keyboard blink about once a second. The DVD drive continues to spin for about a minute and then stops. Since I have no display, I have no idea what's going on.

General :: Fedora 14 - Stuck At Post Installation Process

Feb 7, 2011

I am pretty new to Linux OS's, but I have gone through the process of installing linux onto several of my system already. The problem I am having is when I attempt to install Fedora 14 onto my Unbuntu 10.10 (erasing Unbuntu to be specific) I am stuck at the Post-Installation process.
I am using a CD-RW to install Fedora onto my Ubuntu, and I installed Ubuntu onto the computer originally with another CD-R.

I assume this usually takes a few minutes, as the pop-up says that it may take several, but it has been several hours with no progress. I was pretty far into the installation when the pop up appeared, and it said:
"Post-Installation: Performing post-installation filesystem changes. This may take several minutes.".
As I said, it has been several hours.

Downloaded fedora 11, i386 version for DVD. Performed the media check at the beginning of the install (passed). 3 attempts to install so far. Begins without issue. Gets to installing file 841 of 1091 and just hangs. First time it was file # 831. Have let it sit for as long as 7 hours before shutting off power. Do I need to start with earlier version? Would like to confirm before I spend a bunch of time on downloads and burning disks.
