You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems

Does anyone know how to find it in .rpm?I need it for compiling the vpnc client with openssl (still wondering why the ssl certification was excluded in the in-built package) because without it I get errors.

Dec 30, 2009i have fedora12 and have been noticing that on a few programs (xvidcap, nALFS; just to name a couple) anyways these programs when i go to install they will come up with a missing dependency error and so i'll go hunt them down and install them and i am told that they are already installed...so what is the deal...any ideas. should i just go for a reinstall of the whole system?

Jan 28, 2011I recently upgraded to Fedora 14 from F13 using Yum, it worked to my amazement except now yum appears to be broken because of a massive amount of dependency issues. It appears the old F13 packages are still around and yum is unable to get ride of them because their dependency with F14 packages of the same name. I tried yum distro-sync, and I tried yum resolvedep $(package-cleanup --orphans) --skip-broken but to no avail. Package--cleanup--orphans identifies all of the left over F13 packages.
I also can't install or upgrade anything using Yum, does give me a reason except the massive amount of dependency issues with the left over F13 packages. When I use the graphical software update it tells me among other things that Yum and RPM have updates but of course it won't update. I did follow the instructions and used yum update yum before I upgraded to F14, maybe it didn't take? Anyway to resolve this issue other than a clean install?

downgrade also does not work. I just updated F12 to F13 using DVD and this occured. Also prevents me from doing "full" yum system update, these packages always fail. I do not understand the problem, it says that perl-libs 5.10.1-112 requires perl-libs 5.10.1-112, but I have that installed.

Jan 10, 2009I've just upgraded from F9 to F10. I can boot okay but I seem to have lost some data in one of my logical volumes. My drive is organised as follows:

May 21, 2011I installed a PPA repository ppa:danilo/evolution, and try to upgrade evolution from there. However, there was a dependency fail, and it did nothing. Thus, I remove the repository. Nonetheless, today I find out that my installed version of evolution is gone! and when I try to install it again, it says that danilo's repository has a dependency fail... and it does nothing.

Nov 4, 2010I am working on Ubuntu 7.10 and I want to install libssl-dev_0.9.8a-7ubuntu0.13_i386.deb. So tried it with apt-get command but getting the following error--

In Synaptic, libssl0.9.8 is installed on my system. I tried reinstalling it and that didn't make a difference.
