Fedora Installation :: Missing RPM-GPG_KEY Keys?
Aug 25, 2009
I have followed the instructions at installsoftware to configure my system for installs from rpmfusion, and I can now use Add/Remove Software to search for and install kmod-nvidia modules. When I attempt to install kmod-nvidia for my current kernel, I get: "Transaction error GPG key retrieval failed... No such file or directory '/etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmfusion-nonfree-fedora-10-i386' (although I do have keys for fedora and livna)

I have what I suspect is a frequently encountered problem; indeed it may be an inevitable one. Moreover, I think that I know the solution to the problem. Let me explain.
History:
1. I downloaded f10 from the Fedora site.
2. I burned a DVD.
3. I installed f10 on my laptop using the DVD, and it seems to work correctly.
Symptoms:
4. I ran yum upgrade (as super user), and got the message 'No Packages marked for Update.'
5. I did the same thing for several days and got the same response.
6. I ran yum upgrade a* and got the same response. I thought that the mirror site might balk at large downloads.
Diagnosis:
From what I have read on the web I think the following is what happens.
What I will call the original repository-key system, the one that I downloaded and that is now on my DVD, is limited. It merely concerns the packages that are already on my DVD, and these packages are never changed in the original repository. Therefore, yum is working correctly and will always tell me that 'No Packages marked for Update.'
Cure:
There is a new repository-key system, and with it yum does real updates and upgrades. All I have to do is install the new repository-key system.
THE PROBLEM: ALTHOUGH I HAVE GOOGLED AND SEARCHED A LOT, I CANNOT FIND THE METHOD FOR GETTING AND INSTALLING THE NEW REPOSITORY-KEY SYSTEM IN F10. THERE MUST BE A SIMPLE STANDARDIZED METHOD. WHERE IS IT?
If the above is correct, then anyone who downloads and installs f10 as I did must face this problem.

uring its installation I faced the same problem as now: because my default sound card is gone and I am using an external one, during the installation, everythnig goes fine untill the first try for boot of the system, when the blue lines loads, loads, and stop on about 80%.I was told by specialist that the reason fot this is that the hardware check is failing and that this is why the system can not load. He disabled my sound card so to Fedora not to check for it (I don't know how) and installed Fedora 13. Now I am using it. And I am using an external sound card as well and I have sound working.
But now I want to instakll Fedora 14. And i tried and the same happened again!!! After installation, the blue bars loads, alods, untill abou t 80% and then stop! Please, tell me what to do! I have no connecion to the specialist now but I want to get Fedora 14 nstalled, and working with sound. This is the problem - that I have only external sound card

I don't know if this is a configuration issue or a hardware issue, but I have a Kinesis Advantage USB keyboard and for some reason the F3-F5 keys aren't responding as they used to. They don't respond to anything and, when I tried using F5 on Emacs, it said <XF86AudioNext> is undefined, so I guess it's a weird mapping problem.
Any idea how I could remap them to the original meaning?

I'm running Debian (Squeeze) and I have a toshiba portege m700. It has five buttons on the front just under the screen, which are the only ones accessible when you flip the screen over into tablet mode. One of them is for rotating the screen, and another is for switching to external display. I want to remap the remaining three to control, alt and super so that I can use shortcuts with the stylusThe problem is, when I used showkey to find out the key codes, I found out that each button generates more than one key code:Button 1:
key 126 press >> super_r, although this is distinct from the actual super key (125)
key 7 press >> 6
key 7 release

I thought I'd have a play with F13 so downloaded the 64bit live cd and away I went. It loaded ok but I ended up with no desktop icons or menus in fact nothing but the background. I right-clicked, created a folder and browsed to the install icon and installed anyway.
As before that went fine but again once logged in I had no desktop other than the background. I opened a terminal and did an update but still no different. I can run apps from the terminal but no desktop at all.

I have just installed Fedora 14 on a machine which already has Windows XP on one hard drive and Ubuntu 10.10 on another. Fedora was supposed to be installed alongside Ubuntu
The installation appeared to be successful in that the process came to a natural end and I was told to reboot. However on rebooting I found that the boot menu did not contain an option to choose Fedora and was the same as it had been before I installed Fedora.
I opted to boot Ubuntu and then opened a terminal and typed 'sudo update-grub' and got a message to the effect that grub.conf was being created. When I rebooted again, there was still no sign of Fedora.
Is there any way of getting Fedora to boot? I am not sufficiently experienced in Linux to try anything else as the computer that I am using is not mine and I don't want to wreck the data of the owner. I did do 'sudo fdisk -l' whilst booted in Ubuntu and I saw that there are Linux partitions on both hard drives but I don't know how to tell which is Ubuntu and which is Fedora

why the Fedora 7 Repository is missing? We run a number of Fedora 7 machines in the office and when I went to configure a local repository sync of Fedora 7, i noticed that [URL] no longer has any Fedora 7 packages? After looking at a few other mirror repositories, it seems this has synced down to the mirrors as well. Would like to know if anyone knows why this is the case and if the packages will be restored?

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

Windows 7 wont start from the GRUB menu. After selecting the windows 7 entry I added to my '/boot/grub/menu.lst' i get an error saying BOOTMGR is missing. Both windows 7 and fedora 13 were freshly installed just yesterday. Win 7 first on one HD, fedora on another.
Heres some info:
Code:
Gert boot. Anfang Ende Blcke Id System
/dev/sda1 * 2 26762 15360000 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 26762 35682 5120000 82 Linux Swap / Solaris
/dev/sda3 35682 126504 52131840 83 Linux
[code]....
Windows is installed on my 200 GByte HD, sdc1 - and since Fedora is booting from sda1 and the menu.lst says root (hd0, 0) the windows entry should look like root(hd2,0), no? I tried a couple of different variations of my menu.lst, but i always got this BOOTMGR error. I read that mapping is not needed since vista, is this true? i can only enter the GRUB menu after hitting escape on start up, is there any way how i can have it starting the menu automatically?

I just did a clean install of F15 (32-bit) on a brand new 500 GB hard drive (partitioned and formatted in Win 7 (long 1.5 hr. format, no drive issues). I just upgraded a F9 to F11 using the network install. After the successful install message, I rebooted to find the boot stuck on a grub prompt. After determining that somehow grub had not been installed properly, I used the rescue mode to re-install grub. When I then rebooted, I saw a blank (black) screen during the rhgb sequence, with just the multicolor progress bar moving from left to right. As the bar reached the right side, the standard F11 login screen appeared. The system is an old Omnibook 8000 laptop. Here is my grub.conf
Code:

I have read a number of threads relating to the bootmgr missing issue but I can't seem to apply the fixes to my specific situation, any assistance is most welcome; my details below. I have two HDDs
1 x IDE HDD running Fedora 12 which is allowing me to write this,
1 x SATA HDD which has win7 premium 64-bit, and up until the Fedora 12 instal, was the only OS.
Grub gives me two options for boot, they are: Fedora Other When I select 'Other' I get hte message :BOOTMGR MISSING My assumption is WIn7 located on my SATA HDD = Other what I might do to allow Win7 to boot.

At least the DVD I downloaded a few days ago was nothing like the one that was downloaded on release, most worked I'm missing a couple of important things on the gnome menus, nothing on system>preferences or Admin for printing, I had to configure the printer directly with the CUPs admin panel. These no way to edit the menus, right clicking on the bar has no effect, and I haven't form menu-edit in the repos with yumex, or the gnome control pane. Have these been dropped in FC14 ?

There is some missing files for KLamAV antivirus program from the repository to make KlamAV a full functional program. When I ran the program KLamAV I found 8 files that were infected with a virus that was downloaded from fedora onto my computer today. Because of KLamAV is not a complete program I can not remove the virus or fix the problem.Location of original virus:
x3fw.ncf
x3fw-pxe
at this point the two files original virus is: Heuristics.encrypted.zip from here the file unzips and spreads the virus through out the computer. This is coming from the install DVD disk or the download up date.

I just installed fedora 12 on my laptop. fedora is booting and working fine, but the problem is that now windows isn't booting. when I try to boot windows i get the next message:
"BOOTMGR is missing"
I looked at /boot/grub/menu.lst, and those are the lines for booting windows:
"...
title win7
rootnoverify (hd0,1)
chainloader +1
"
then i checked with fdisk -l and verified that windows is actually installed on the second partition (sda2).the next thing i tried was to use the repair option at the windows 7 installation DVD. the problem is that when i try to preform a startup repair, the installation DVD doesn't recognize my existing windows 7 installation, and therefore wasn't able to repair it. if it's relevant, here are some more details on my machine:
HP probook 4310
windows 7 64-bit
fedora 12 32-bit
i have one sata HD which I devided into 6 partitions {a system partition of the laptop, windows 7 (NTFS), swap, /boot (ext3), / (ext4), /home (ext4)}
