I just installed firefox's flash plugin successfully and I can see it in the About:Plugins and it is enabled. But if I go to ..... to stream a video, I just get a black screen instead of the chosen video.
View 4 Repliesi've been experiencing an issue with audio playback for certain flash videos that stream from the web. most play smoothly, like the videos at videos. others have this strange background noise that is only present when there is audio (usually on news websites that host their own videos). when there is sound, there is a strange stuttering noise that disappears during the silent pauses.
here's a perfect example:
epidemic of tsa criminality: more agents caught stealing cash from luggage, another arrested for assault. the videos video at the top plays just fine. if you scroll down and watch the other video in the small box, you'll hear the stuttering. i have fedora 14 kde, adobe flash player 64 bit preview release 3 and rpm fusion codecs installed. the problem is also present in fedora 14 with gnome, same setup. the problematic videos play without the stuttering in ubuntu.
i've got a mythbuntu 10.10 box connected to my tv; sometimes i want to use it to watch internet tv. owever, when i try to resize videos to full-screen, sometimes black bars intermittently flash across the entire screen. this does not happen when the video is in a window or on the web page, only when going into full-screen mode. unfortunately, on some of these sites, even the "large" in-page video selection is still too small to be comfortably watched from the couch.
i'd suspect it's something with flash, but a similar thing happens when i'm using skype inside a windows xp on vmware. black bars flashing across when in "full-screen" but just fine when zoomed up inside a window. and i don't think vmware video output is flash-based. so it may be something else entirely.
also, this doesn't happen on all internet video - i've only had it happen on video from nbc.com and nfl.com (i haven't really had the opportunity or reason to try many other sites yet), and it was only a little noticeable from the nfl.com but nearly unwatchable from nbc. yet if i go to videos, i have no trouble getting any of their videos running full-screen.
i have an integrated geforce 8200 graphics, and i'm running the nvidia proprietary drivers version 256. i'm not running 260 since its vdpau capability is questionable, and i need that for mythtv. i have a 64-bit system.
does anyone have any ideas regarding this? the fact that i'm getting consistently good results from videos yet consistently bad ones from the tv networks makes me wonder if it's something i'm even going to be able to fix.
I wanted to see the current video stream of oil leak in the gulf but when I go to the page the video is black. When I click on the video it give the error message Quote:

I have an ati 2600 mobile. I am running fedora 10 64 bit. If I have compiz enabled when I resume from suspend I just get a black screen with some garbed colors and I have to hold the power button to shut it off. I have tried turing sync to vblank off. It works fine with no compiz. Is there anyway I can get resume working with compiz enabled?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue changing the flash plug to display flash. I clean installed 10.04 a week ago, upgraded to to the closed source adobe plugin, and everything was great. However, a day ago, I had an issue with one site, and I decided to switch back to the default swfdec player. Since that time I have not been able to switch back to adobe. Every time I attempt to, firefox complains that adobe is already installed. Even if I remove the adobe flash plugin via synaptic and allow firefox to reinstall it, it still uses swfdec.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi have just upgraded to 10.10 from 10.04. i have an acer netbook (d250 one). i had boot loading screen problems with 10.04 too. i hoped that this issue will be fixed with the upgrade but not. after the grub menu, a black screen appers until the password prompt screen. there is no purple loading screen, just a black screen. is it a plymouth prob? also i realised that when i playing videos in videos the sound crashes a bit. i'm using google chromium. but my main problem is the booting one not the flashplugin. the new 'ubuntu' font is awesome. i <3 it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've installed Fedora 15 64bit version yesterday, first time using Fedora ever, I like it so far, but there's one thing that's bugging me. It's the flashplayer. I'm using 64bit version of adobe flash player called "Square", which work's fine for ....., but when i try to switch to full screen on site warcraftmovies(they're using player Minoto i believe) it's working strange. If I open a new Firefox and I haven't played any other video from ..... for instance, it works fine and switches to full screen no problem, but If i exit full screen and try to switch to full screen again, it will give me only black screen. If i click on the window border of firefox the video comes up again, but not maximized, only normal window. I tried running firefox from terminal to see erorrs and whenever i try to maximize the player it gives me this error

I have the normal OS choices menu (Windows XP or Unbuntu) but when I choose ubuntu I get an instant flash of an error message on a black screen so quick I cannot read the whole thing but I caught "error" and "format" and then the computer reboots. I have no problem getting into Windows.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed jessie amd64 lxde to a thumb drive to use with a laptop. Vanilla install using the amd64 lxde live cd. Upon booting the usb system, I am presented with a black screen with blinking cursor. No grub screen, no ability to type any commands and no ability to switch to another terminal. I tried booting into the live cd and I could get into the intro splash screen. Booting to the live system from there would also hang at a black screen.
However, using the kernel parameter "nomodeset" from the splash screen did allow the live system to boot to the desktop. I booted the live system, mounted the usb system and chrooted into it. I edited /etc/default/grub to include "nomodeset" in the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT and GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX variables and then ran update-grub.
Upon reboot to the usb system the problem still occurred. The video card in question is a amd firepro 5800m which has an lspci line of mobile radeon 5000 series. This card was supported in wheezy and apparently works with the live system.
I have a big problem with the flash plugin... Since a couple of weeks ..... and some internet sites with flash content don't work... sounds load and playback correctly but I see a grey square instead of the video.
One weird thing is that ..... videos work perfectly when tagged/embedded in another site, such as facebook or a gmail chat, but on the ..... official site I can't see a thing.

How do I find the plugins folders of the various browsers and insert flash in the browsers plugins folder,root wont allow it.
Also the browsers are google,opera,seamonkey, and others if applicable.
I installed fedora 12 on my system but had issues with the ATI card I had at the time which I could not solve. So, I bought a Geforce 6200 hoping that would help, but I am still getting issues. Firstly, I cannot play full screen Flash. I know this has been asked before but all of the solutions I have tried have failed. Also, I would like to know if it is possible to play AVI files, as I d/l a few.
If I cannot get these two issues sorted it will be back to the dreaded Mic...... As I said, I am a complete novice here, I tried to enable desktop effects, and a message came up saying I only had 2D support, so I am guessing a driver problem? I have not installed any new drivers, but did try to get from nvidia, that I could not get to install - it was a .run file.
I have just followed the four point installation guide that I found on here, and now when the PC boots I have a slow moving blue bar across the the bottom of the screen with 'Fedora 12' next to it, and the graphics are now totally shot, looking like something from windows 3.1!
I have already downloaded and installed the latest version of Adobe Flashplayer...

Opening any flash video with the flash player plugin cause my CPU to go to 100% (even more but I assume that's just top reporting dual core or something. I want to watch ..... and stuff without burning up my CPU so I need to fix this.

Although I did install the package flashplugin-nonfree, in debian that I'm a little more used to flashplugin-nonfree provided libflashplayer.so and not flashplugin-alternative.so which seem to be the one all my browsers are using. However about plugins in firefox says very little except "application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash". Can I just replace all the flashplugin-alternative.so with libflashplayer.so and maybe make some links or something or would that be bad?
The process using my CPU is reported as plugin-containe but it only happens with flash video and not any other plugins. If the video is playing, paused or stopped/not started makes no difference. I did replace all the flashplugin-alternative.so with libflashplayer.so, it didn't help. Seems firefox was using that plugin all along, presumably from here "/usr/share/ubufox/plugins/". I can't imagine I'm the only one who wants a fix for this here, there should be hordes. I use the latest kbuntu, flash player, firefox and kernel all from the repo.
i installed Fedora 12 on an external hard drive. Everything went fine with the installation and it was working perfectly until i tried to install my video card drivers. I have done this many times before and it has worked. I have an ATI card. Anyway after installing the driver i rebooted and now when it starts it show the loading bar on the bottom but then nothing happens its just a black screen!. The worst part is that when i go into windows and my external is plugged in windows wont read it and i have very valuable data on it. I go into disk management and it shows up but windows says that its empty. which is obviously not true because Fedora starts to boot. I really just want Fedora off my external and for windows to read my external with all the files still on it. Is there a way to get by that blank screen?

Now when I try to uninstall "Flash-Plugin" from YAST it fails as it can't find the sub-folder. I also cannot install the latest version of flash player as it says that it is already installed - So I am stuck in a loop.
I am running SUSE 11.2.
Is there a config file of installed programs that I can modify to remove the "Flash-Plugin" entry, or is there another way to get over this problem.

I was messing around with the screen orientation and thought it would be funny to orient it sideways. Big mistake The screen went black.I can force a shutdown, login and I get the same black screen. I tried hooking up an external monitor and the monitor showed no input so I'm guessing my laptop doesn't have that capability with Fedora.This is my main computer.

Anybody with the same problem? My system is System76 Gazelle, Ubuntu 8.04 with all latest updates, nvidia drivers.

I downgraded plugin to r53 for now, but it's not a good idea, last update fixed some security issues.
when i make flash videos fullscreen, it puts black bars at all around and the video is the same size as before. this is using Firefox. this is driving me crazy and NONE of the various workarounds on the forum work.

View 14 Replies View RelatedAfter I upgraded F11 to F12 on an x86_64, the new system boots and the daemons come up, then the screen goes black and the computer restarts. But then it won't boot at all. It just keeps restarting.It could be a monitor driver problem. The one time I managed to press "I" fast enough to bring GRUB up, I tried adding "nomodeset". Nothing changed. The monitor is an HP 2009m, so it should not need "nomodeset" anyway. Xfree86.cf has not changed from F11 to F12.
I have a full DVD, so I can bring up Rescue Mode. I had hoped to find clues in (/mnt/sysimage)/var/log/messages, but nothing is being written to it. Once after I rebooted off the hard disk from Rescue Mode, I witnessed a long SElinux conversion. That disquiets me. But disabling SElinux does not solve the problem either.Can anyone suggest some kernel options that might overcome this problem? I shrink from reinstalling F11 from scratch and having to restore all my files from my backup system!P.S. I just found in my personal X11 log a message to the effect that /usr/lib64/dvi/nouveau_dri.so is missing. So it is; the directory has 12 drivers and not this one. If I remember right, "nouveau" often figures in trouble reports.P.P.S. As myself in Rescue Mode I can use xinit to bring X up! But it has only a vanilla text window and no mouse cursor, so I cannot use it or get out of it.
I have been using Ubuntu for quite sometime and did have some problems getting it to work on my 64bit installation. I had it working fine since I fixed some issues I had when I first installed my current system (10.04 64 bit).
I have updated through the Update Manager today, and after restarting I got into ..... and started seeing the above message in place of the ..... video, it happens in around 95% of videos. The same issue is in vimeo but I didnt find a single video that worked there.
The update installed Firefox version 3.6.6 which has the new flash crash detection. I had flash crash on me when I first installed 10.04 but I used the Lahf fix here:[URL]It doesnt seem to crash on any non video sites that use flash like Facebook.
