View 3 RepliesI'm running Evolution 2.30.3 on fc13.x64 and I've been getting a funny problem for a while, that now really annoys me:
even if the settings for my hotmail account are correct, Evolution will ask for the password every time I log in. Also, since I keep it open, after a while (~30 minutes) it "forgets" somehow the password and asks for the password again. This time, anyway, it won't work and I have to reset Evolution again.
Bonus question: even if hotmail is configured correctly for receiving and sending (smtp.live.com etc.), it won't send email, but will remain stuck on "sending".
i'm using fedora 12 and i wanna send mail using command $mail actually i tried to send mail to my gmail , yahoo ,and hotmail emails but i didn't receive the mail so i expect that i should have some configuration on my host before sending mai

but also the mail server IP get junked, so i changed the mail server IP my question now is there any guides or steps to follow when sending emails to hotmail ?? my customer is working in a commercial field, so this means that his job depends on sending emails ,,
I know there are Linux email clients but I like Hotmail. I upgraded to Karmic and I'm very happy with it. The only issue I have found is I can't get the unread email to have bold text. I've tried downloading a number of fonts but no deal. Anyone know the font package I need to make this work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFirst thing I will say is I am new this site and computers in general. I have pc and am running back track 4. Today the computer shut off, maybe an over heat. I restarted it and it turned off again even before the reboot finished. I put an additional cooling fan in front of the air intake and the computer is staying on but now will not open the emails in the my hot mail account. It seems to open the account, I can see what is in my in box just can not open them. Moving the curser over the unopened email usually made what is in task bar at the bottom of the page change. As of now it continues to say "Done" in stead of showing a task. Moving the curser over other things on the same page will make the task bar say "javascript" only.

I'm seeking workarounds for this problem:When you mouse scroll in website with java content (happens often for with these: [URL], then X crashes and everything goes back to gdm screen. It happens mostly when I'm down in the page and mouse scroll up back into the direction of the java content. I'm running Karmic + FF 3.5.7 + Java Plug-in 1.6.0_15 + NoScript 1.9.9.45.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to retrieve hotmail using Alpine? I can get gmail using the IMAP feature and having the Gmail certificates but I'l like to be able to get my hotmail without opening a web browser. I have one friend with whom I communicate via Pidgin/MSN messenger, that's why I opened the hotmail account - and sometimes she sends me an email to hotmail because that's her primary email service.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of emails on hotmail and gmail that I want to store in text or html files on my local Fedora computer for future reference. Is there a way I can download them to my hard drive without doing it one email at a time with the browser's Save Page As feature or some such thing? There has to (?) be a better way.
Every mail program should have an easy-to-use 'mass' export-to-text-file feature so that people are not held hostage to a particular email service or program. The lack of such a feature in email programs I've used is one of my pet peeves. It seems rather tyrannical and abusive. (Now before someone tells me it's a free service, please remember all the advertisements I have to go through to use the service). I do not have an email account through an ISP. I live with my landlord who deals with the ISP. I only use hotmail and gmail (and, rarely, yahoo).
Yesterday I tried to use KMail with my hotmail account. First mistake I made was not to check "Leave fetched messages on the server". The obvious result of that was that I had empty hotmail (web) account. I've found this but its for Thunderbird to upload your messages back on to the server. If I can put all my messages back into hotmail server that would be great. Since I do use web account as well. KMail is only on my home PC.

Click on scrollbar. Drag down. Watch text crawl by in fits and starts. Don't even think about using the scroll wheel. And this, on a one page RTF document. With no special characters or images or anything.
I tried the instruction here: [URL] It did nothing. How can I make Abiword usable? It doesn't have to be lightning fast, all I want is for it to scroll at the same speed and with the same responsiveness as all my other applications.
I have a HCL K21 pdc notebook. When I install Fedora 15 KDE then there is no tapping and scrolling of touchpad. But the cursor is moving. It does not work in Live CD as well as in installaton. I have updated F15 to full but still no luck. Touchpad : Synaptics The buttons below the touchpad are working and all the options in system settings are enabled
Note : I have read a forum in which touchpad is detected as ps/2 mouse. So I tried to disable the ps/2 mouse but it disable the cursor movement of touchpad, so it may be some kind of problem!
i'm having a little bit of trouble with my touchpad, it is apparently recognized as a PS2 Mouse, so no edge scrolling obviously, i read through xorg-x11-drv-synaptics-1.4.0.901-1.fc15 (1686) description:
Code:
This is the Synaptics touchpad driver for the X.Org X server. The following touchpad models are supported:
* Synaptics
* appletouch (Post February 2005 and October 2005 Apple Aluminium Powerbooks)
* Elantech (EeePC)
* bcm5974 (Macbook Air (Jan 2008), Macbook Pro Penryn (Feb 2008), iPhone (2007), iPod Touch (2008)
Note that support for appletouch, elantech and bcm5974 requires the respective kernel module. A touchpad by default operates in compatibility mode by emulating a standard mouse. However, by using a dedicated driver, more advanced features of the touchpad become available.
Features:
Movement with adjustable, non-linear acceleration and speed. Button events through short touching of the touchpad ("tapping"). Double-Button events through double short touching of the touchpad. Dragging through short touching and holding down the finger on the touchpad. Middle and right button events on the upper and lower corner of the touchpad.Vertical scrolling (button four and five events) through moving the finger on the right side of the touchpad.
The up/down button sends button four/five events. Horizontal scrolling (button six and seven events) through moving the finger on the lower side of the touchpad. * The multi-buttons send button four/five events, and six/seven events for horizontal scrolling.Adjustable finger detection. Multifinger taps: two finger for middle button and three finger for right button events. (Needs hardware support. Not all models implement this feature.) Run-time configuration using shared memory. This means you can change parameter settings without restarting the X server. and it says that it requires specific kernel modules for the touchpad, otherwise it will be recognized as a normal mouse. Maybe I'm wrong but i think my problem fits in this state.

I had to disable "smooth scrolling"

I'm using LXDE on a HP510 Laptop, it's onboard graphics chipset is a: Intel Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller. I am not using an xorg.conf file, so the settings are just the default autodetect ones I assume. I've noticed it when scrolling in firefox, and can't seem to get it to do it when scrolling in other applications, but I haven't really used this laptop much since installing the Fedora 12 LXDE spin recently. I'm not sure what information to supply that will help you help me. Here is a screenshot to show what happens.
I dunno what the big black box is, its only visible on the screenshot. I had to bind a script to printscreen to get it to make a screenshot, so its probably something I need to do here to get rid of it?
Code:
#!/bin/bash
DATE=`date +%Y-%m-%d %H-%M`
import -window root "$HOME/Desktop/screenshot $DATE.png"
I also can't get the touchpad scrolling to work. Or my external monitor without some issues. So I think I will be making an xorg.conf file at some point.
Alright, on my last Linux installation I know I did not get graphics lag this bad.
So I go to move a window around, Nautilus, Firefox, a Terminal, and when I move it it takes a second to reach the location and refresh on my screen, and if I move my mouse within that time period then it will move the window somewhere I did not want it.
I disabled Smooth Scrolling in Preferences => Advanced => General for Firefox but I do not think it helped. It takes ages to scroll to where I want it and by the time it gets there it keeps going because I scrolled too many times. I receive scrolling lag on seemly any document of text, this includes gedit as well.
I'm working on finding out what graphics card I have so I can see if it has Linux drivers. I know it is an ATI, but I have no idea how to get its name using Linux commands.
Suddenly, today my mouse seems to have a mind of it's own. For no reason, it's suddenly jumping and scrolling all over the desktop in rapid fashion and apparently left-clicking at will. Reboot does not solve the problem, although it became less after the reboot.
Updates today were:
This is a generic optical mouse that's been used for several years without incident.
So, is there anything that might have caused the problem or is the mouse kaput?
Okay, dug through the drawers and found a Logitech usb optical mouse. Giving that a try as it seems to me that the mouse may be shot.
"screen tearing" whenever I scroll, watch flash videos, or any videos in general. I first noticed this in Fedora 14, and now I notice the same behaviour in Linux Mint.Does anyone know what might be causing this? My Graphics Card is: Nvidia Geforce GTX 280M (1GB) I'm using Nvidia proprietary drivers. Reading some forums I see that the problem might be related to Compiz. Here's my xorg.conf file (if needed);
Code:
Section "Screen"
Identifier"Default Screen"
DefaultDepth24

This doesnt really bother me at all, Im more curious than anything but- When I first installed fedora 9, during startup there was a bootsplash during the boot process. When the kernal was updated, the bootsplash was replaced with scrolling text (I have done several kernal updates, it was after the first one the scrolling text happened). Is there a way of reverting back to the bootsplash or is it more trouble than what its worth?

View 7 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else seeing high CPU usage with this new kernel while using Firefox 4? I didn't have this problem before this update. If I boot into the previous kernel there is no problem surfing the web with Firefox 4
This kernel update has made browsing the web very slow and scrolling the browser window incredibly slow to the point of frustration.
Should this be reported as a bug or an issue with the new kernel or has anyone already reported this issue?
I am using Fedora 11 on Intel Xeon Power edge 1900 server, but graphics is not at all working good. When I try to scroll firefox,it not scrolling smoothly, some time the entire screen gets freeze and I cant see the contents of the page. Have tried a couple of options such a resize box and change from full size but these do not help reduce size of Fedora display. Am wondering if it as something to do with the rectangular size of laptop monitor???
View 5 Replies View Relatedi have recently installed thunderbird on my fedora 11 box and so far so good. i am interested in encrypting my emails and digitally signing them as well. does anyone have documentation as to how i can do this? i messed around with it last night but i was not able to import a valid certificate.
View 14 Replies View Relatedhow to get this working? I mean have an icon in the tray alerting of new emails. I used to have it working using moztraybiff [URL] in Thunderbird 2, but since I installed F11 and thus started using Thunderbird 3 I haven't been able to get this working. (Evolution, on the other hand, has this and it works fine, but I'm having trouble, [URL], with using Google calendars in it. If I could get that working I would think about switching to Evolution).
View 7 Replies View Relatedi've got Evolution as an email client in Fedora 12.ve got only one IMAP account configured, which seems to be working OK. However, temporarily it is not sending emails. I write an email and hit send/receive and get error. "Error while sending message" ir seems that it is downloading messages, but not sending. There is a quick, but annoying solution to it: restart Evolution. As soon as it is restarted (close and ope the application) it is working OK for some time.
