Fedora Hardware :: Connect To Motorola RAZR V3 Phone Through Moto4lin
Nov 25, 2010
Right now I am struggling to fix my Motorola RAZR V3 phone (it is just one year old). The problem is that the internal speakers (the regular ones, used to listen to the caller) are apparently set to a quite low volume and I can not hear almost anything. Researching similar cases I learned about the existence of several software tools designed to hack the phone and raise the volume on the aforementioned speakers; unfortunately those tools are Windows-only.
I also stumbled into a Linux program (moto4linux) which apparently would allow me to do the same thing, unfortunately I've been unable to connect to my phone using that program. Before I go any further in my attempts to force moto4linux to connect to my phone, could anyone please confirm that such program is actually able to hack the phone's speakers the way I want to? Or is it merely for file & contacts synchronizing?
All I want to do is transfer my pictures from my Motorola V3 RAZR to the Ubuntu 10.04 PC. Searching, I installed KMobileTools 0.4.3.3 from the "Ubuntu Software Center" as a Ubuntu 10.04 replacement for the Windows "Motorola Phone Tools". But when I attach my fully charged Motorola RAZR V3 to the Ubuntu 10.04 PC with a USB cable, I can't transfer my pictures from the phone to the PC using KMobileTools.
In fact, there doesn't even appear to be a MENU for transferring pictures from the Motorola RAZR V3 to the Ubuntu 10.04 PC in the KMobileTools application. What would you suggest for transferring pictures from the Motorola RAZR to the Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid PC?
I am trying to find out the best way to sync my address book from my motorola razr v8, and eventually my new nexus one phone, to Evolution in fedora 12. I don't use bluetooth, just a simple usb connection.
I know they are old, but I will probably have my v3m for a while. I would like to connect to it to transfer ring tones, pictures, and contacts, etc. moto4lin installed and runs fine. I have assigned the device id's and device file name. I get a message when I plug and unplug the phone so I know I have the correct addressability. When I press the connect/disconnect button, I get
Code:
[info] Phone is unpluged. Please connect it [info] Phone pluged as P2K Try to connect
[code]......
Before someone jumps on me for running as root, there are posts all over the internet that indicates that root is required.
I have an old Motorola RAZR that is starting to give up the ghost. I want to upload the phonebook to my computer as easily as possible, in a form that it could then be downloaded to another phone. I have looked at moto4lin and kmobiletools - I didn't actually try them, because the writeups I found seemed always to have some problems, and nothing seemed very Fedora friendly.
If I have to go with those tools, I will, but I don't want to sync the phonebook with what is on my computer or anything, I just want to copy the data somewhere temporarily and then copy it back to another phone. And no, there is too much for the SIM card. I suppose I could do it with the SIM card in several iterations, but that seems awfully kludgy. Is there a mount point or something where I can find the thing after I plug it into a USB port on my computer? I don't have a bluetooth device for my computer.
I have installed moto4lin, as I want to be able to get pictures off my razr v3mM, which I could easily do in Windows. I found a guide for connecting a v3m, but for some reason moto4lin is screwing around with me. Here is my log:
[info] Phone is unplugged. Please connect it [info] Phone plugged as AT [info] Switching device /dev/ttyACM0 to P2K mode... [error] Unable to open device [error] Please check preferences [info] Switching device /dev/ttyACM0 to P2K mode .....
When I connect my Motorola Xoom Tablet (Android 3.0) to my PC (Fedora 15) via Mini-USB cable, the Fedora system doesn't recognize the tablet as a external drive.Connecting my phone Nexus S (Android 2.3) the same way, it will be recognized and mounted.
I'd like to add music to my Nuron 5230 phone. I've tried installing gxnokii, tried rythymbox and nothing works. I cant even get the OS to react when connect my phone to the computer. I love ubuntu, its just that i'm a rookie and have no clue what plug ins or programs to look for. I was roaming the forum too and couldn't find anything specific.
I am having trouble with connecting my Sony Ericsson phone with my Ubuntu 9.10 using USB. It doesn't matter how I choose to connect it - "File Transfer" and "Phone Mode" - both does not work. The phone IS charching, when it is connected, but it doesn't shows anywhere. When I type "lsusb" in terminal, it does not show me my phone. When I look in "/var/log/messages" there is NO error. It does not even show the procedure of connecting and disconnecting the phone. What could be the problem?
Has anyone else experienced a failure to connect to a mobile network. I have root access wireless tether on my Droid X and I can't seem to connect to it. It times out. My buddies windows box can, and his Iphone will as well. I can see the network just fine, just no connection. Tried changing frequencies as well. And restarting both the phone and laptop.
why my VCN will not allow me to connect from my phone outside of my home network... When I do open up remote desktop it changes what it says... one day it says only available through Name.Local and then the other day it shows the IP address and says over the local network. I have tried going into gconf-editor and messing around but it still doesn't seem to work.. I'm not entirely sure how to mess around with my router.. and if that is necessary..
I'm trying to get my android 2.3 phone to connect to my vpn server and I followed this guide [URL]... but it isn't working. I've tried compiling both xl2tpd and openswan myself but it resulted with the same error I can connect to my vpn from windows 7 but when I try to connect with my phone I get this in the log file (jumped to the interesting part & highlighted the line that's bothering me most)
Code: May 19 19:06:44 ubuntu pppd[12718]: found interface eth0 for proxy arp May 19 19:06:44 ubuntu pppd[12718]: local IP address 192.168.0.196 May 19 19:06:44 ubuntu pppd[12718]: remote IP address 192.168.0.200 May 19 19:06:44 ubuntu pppd[12718]: Script /etc/ppp/ip-up started (pid 12721)
I have internet in my nokia mobile phone I can use it through nokia pc suite in windows but I cant install it in ubuntu so is there a way to my ubuntu to my phone without installing nokia pc suite.
when i open up to configure bluetooth it says i don't have any plugins available and when i try to search for appliences from my phone it cant recognise anything. Please help me! I want to transfer mp3 music from my laptop to my phone. I am using Linux Mint 9.
I have a Verizon Droid Eris, an Android phone that has not yet been rooted. Due to the lack of root capabilities the only way to tether my phone is through PDANet for Android. Unfortunately there is no Linux version of PDANet, so the only computer I can tether my phone with is my laptop which is running Vista.
I also have a desktop running Koala, which is ultimately the computer I want to get connected. I'm hoping that there is some way I can use Internet Connection Sharing on the laptop to accomplish my goal, but I haven't had much luck so far. I don't have a crossover cable either so I would prefer to connect the laptop and the desktop via my Belkin F5D7230-4 wireless router.
I'd like to put a few MP3s on it but I'm not able to connect to the phone via USB on my xubuntu box to drop files onto it. It works on my company computer (Windows XP) so I know it's not a problem with the phone.
I'm still somewhat of an ubuntu noob so it may be a quick fix that I have overlooked/don't understand yet. Once I plug the phone in to the box, I tell Android to enable USB storage and mount the drive. Here's the error I get afterwards:
Quote:
Failed to mount "3G Removable Volume".
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so.
Here's the settings set in Storage Device Manager:

just finished installing Ubuntu to my dell mini 10v netbook. I really like it so far but I have hit a problem that may be a potential deal breaker. I have a CDMA HTC Hero phone that I have rooted. I installed the "wireless tether for root users" app on my phone and use it ALL the time to go online on my netbook through my phone on windows. However Ubuntu 9.10 does not seem to connect to my phone running this app. It sees the SSID, and i tell it to connect, and then I just get that circle thing for a couple of minutes then it gives up and connects to my main router if its in range.
I have just bought a HTC Desire Z mobile phone, running Android 2.2.
It has a feature to allow, via the USB cable, use of the Internet connection on a PC so that the phone can connect via that, rather than use the 3G or wi fi when those are not available or not wanting to use them. I want to download lots of applications without draining my 3G data allowance.
I have searched via Google, and some people have said that it just worked for them. They plugged in the phone to their Ubuntu PC and they could use the Internet on the phone.
But I cannot get it to work. I am new to Android, and still figuring out the phone. In the Settings/Wireless & Networks, there is an option for Internet Pass-through, which is trying to connect but never does. Then it comes up with a message saying: "Unable to connect to PC" and asks me to install HTC Sync software (which is Windows only).
Is there something I need to install in Ubuntu to get it to work?
