View 7 Replieswhen i open up to configure bluetooth it says i don't have any plugins available and when i try to search for appliences from my phone it cant recognise anything. Please help me! I want to transfer mp3 music from my laptop to my phone. I am using Linux Mint 9.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's installed as a mobile broadband connection. Only works if my phone is plugged in during boot, otherwise plugging in my phone does nothing. For example, I booted my netbook earlier today but my phone wasn't plugged in. Tethering did not work, it just acts as if it isn't present. I rebooted (with my phone still attached) and now tethering magically works.

It doesn't matter how I choose to connect it - "File Transfer" and "Phone Mode" - both does not work. The phone IS charching, when it is connected, but it doesn't shows anywhere. When I type "lsusb" in terminal, it does not show me my phone. When I look in "/var/log/messages" there is NO error. It does not even show the procedure of connecting and disconnecting the phone. What could be the problem?

Has anyone else experienced a failure to connect to a mobile network. I have root access wireless tether on my Droid X and I can't seem to connect to it. It times out. My buddies windows box can, and his Iphone will as well. I can see the network just fine, just no connection. Tried changing frequencies as well. And restarting both the phone and laptop.

When I do open up remote desktop it changes what it says... one day it says only available through Name.Local and then the other day it shows the IP address and says over the local network. I have a Verizon Droid Eris, an Android phone that has not yet been rooted. Due to the lack of root capabilities the only way to tether my phone is through PDANet for Android. Unfortunately there is no Linux version of PDANet, so the only computer I can tether my phone with is my laptop which is running Vista.
I also have a desktop running Koala, which is ultimately the computer I want to get connected. I'm hoping that there is some way I can use Internet Connection Sharing on the laptop to accomplish my goal, but I haven't had much luck so far. I don't have a crossover cable either so I would prefer to connect the laptop and the desktop via my Belkin F5D7230-4 wireless router.
I'd like to put a few MP3s on it but I'm not able to connect to the phone via USB on my xubuntu box to drop files onto it. It works on my company computer (Windows XP) so I know it's not a problem with the phone.
I'm still somewhat of an ubuntu noob so it may be a quick fix that I have overlooked/don't understand yet. Once I plug the phone in to the box, I tell Android to enable USB storage and mount the drive. Here's the error I get afterwards:
Quote:
Failed to mount "3G Removable Volume".
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so.
Here's the settings set in Storage Device Manager:
Mountpoint: /media/sdc1
Type: vfat
Options: defaults,users,utf8,mark=007,uid=1000,user
Is there a config change I need to make in Storage Device Manager to make this work, or am I missing something else?

I was originally going to setup ssh on my home computer but then realized that I wouldn't be able to get my desktop this way.At work, we use windows remote desktop connection to log into other computers within our network, but I'm planning on asking my manager if I'm allowed to login to my home computer. If he accepts, I need a method to actually make it happen.I looked at FreeNX which seemed awesome but it doesn't seem to have windows support. To an extent that I would like to only allow my work IP to be allowed to even try an login. The bridge to cross here is the fact that I'm connecting from windows.
View 1 Replies View Relatedjust finished installing Ubuntu to my dell mini 10v netbook. I really like it so far but I have hit a problem that may be a potential deal breaker. I have a CDMA HTC Hero phone that I have rooted. I installed the "wireless tether for root users" app on my phone and use it ALL the time to go online on my netbook through my phone on windows. However Ubuntu 9.10 does not seem to connect to my phone running this app. It sees the SSID, and i tell it to connect, and then I just get that circle thing for a couple of minutes then it gives up and connects to my main router if its in range.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a HTC Desire Z mobile phone, running Android 2.2.
It has a feature to allow, via the USB cable, use of the Internet connection on a PC so that the phone can connect via that, rather than use the 3G or wi fi when those are not available or not wanting to use them. I want to download lots of applications without draining my 3G data allowance.
I have searched via Google, and some people have said that it just worked for them. They plugged in the phone to their Ubuntu PC and they could use the Internet on the phone.
But I cannot get it to work. I am new to Android, and still figuring out the phone. In the Settings/Wireless & Networks, there is an option for Internet Pass-through, which is trying to connect but never does. Then it comes up with a message saying:
"Unable to connect to PC" and asks me to install HTC Sync software (which is Windows only).
Is there something I need to install in Ubuntu to get it to work?
Is there any software that allow to connect and manage files in the phone?
I do not need dial sofware
It is not detected, not even as a file tree (let alone the stupid outlook stuff that doe not get me my addresses).
is there out there some program to connect this phone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedRight now I am struggling to fix my Motorola RAZR V3 phone (it is just one year old). The problem is that the internal speakers (the regular ones, used to listen to the caller) are apparently set to a quite low volume and I can not hear almost anything. Researching similar cases I learned about the existence of several software tools designed to hack the phone and raise the volume on the aforementioned speakers; unfortunately those tools are Windows-only.
I also stumbled into a Linux program (moto4linux) which apparently would allow me to do the same thing, unfortunately I've been unable to connect to my phone using that program. Before I go any further in my attempts to force moto4linux to connect to my phone, could anyone please confirm that such program is actually able to hack the phone's speakers the way I want to? Or is it merely for file & contacts synchronizing?

I've just loaded up Fedora 13 and I like the new feature Fedora have which allows you to use your mobile as a internet modem over bluetooth. Is it possible to update my Network Manager in ubuntu 10.04 to this new version 0.8.997 through the package manager? Is there a PPA or something I could use?
Would just updating this add the bluetooth ability or would I have to update gnome-bluetooth package as well? Is it doable at all or should I just wait till the next Ubuntu comes out?
