Fedora Hardware :: Skype Has Lost Web Cam?

I use my MS Life Cam VX200 primarily for Skype and until Sunday it was working just fine. Now as far as Skype is concerned it no longer exists. Under Options/Video it says "No video device detected". KDE Info Centre shows Microsoft Life Cam VX-2000 under USB Devices, and here's the result of "lsusb".

I have downloaded & installed the skype beta release for linux (now ancient?) on my newly build fedora 14 (64) box.
Under fedora 12, I made this work after several hours of mucking around by installing old libraries for 32 bit code in /lib and /usr/lib - as I got an error, I found the library and put it in place. This was painful and the WRONG way to do things - I should have been using yum!
It remains a shame that the Skype release for Linux is so old, but that is life.
Can anyone list the libraries needed (prefer yum names if possible) to make this work?
I can do this again the hard way and list the results for others (should have saved for myself, but I never dreamed that a newer Skype release would take so long) , but I am sure many folks have this working already. I am surprised there is no "yum install skype---" command.

I recently bought a IOgear USB bluetooth adapter and a Sony DRBT101/BLK bluetooth headphones to use with my computer.Whenever I try to make a call using these headphones with skype, I can speak for say 10 seconds and then the headset disconnects completely from the system. I then have to reconnect the headset by switching it off and on. I do not have this problem listening to music using A2DP. It works fine with my mobile phone.When I change the profile to Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP), it shows up as hands free, I thought it should be headset in blueman manager. My friend uses Plantronics headset with is Dell laptop with built in bluetooth and he says his comes up as headset not hands free. Could this be causing the problem?

I just recently purchased a 3g dongle for my netbook. Everything seems to be working fine until I discovered this strange problem. I cant seem to text via skype, it doesnt go through. I testet the skype test call service and voice works fine, audio and mic. I have tried to google and search forums but no luck. I have before used skype on my netbook with my cellphone as a hot spot and it worked without problem but it doesnt have the same provider - different sim cards in phone and dongle.

I log in, and it works perfectly fine until I try to actually use it. As soon as I click to open a chat with someone, it crashes. It wasn't doing this until this morning, and it's given me no problems before now, other than the occasional failure to send messages through.
When it crashes, it brings up the Bug Buddy bug reporting tool. Also, on further testing, it seems to only be doing this when I try to open a chat with my sister, and it does it whether it's recognizing her as being online or not.

Finally got skype working on my Fedora 11 x64 version. Well, of course, the first thing is to download the 32 bit "skype-2.0.0.72-fc5.i586.rpm" from Skype official website..At first, I found a guide on [URL].. and followed the instruction.Installed skype using

Skype failed to start.. It's apparently dependency issue..

There are also some thread talking about this problem but I forgot to bookmark them. It seems that skype needs 32 bit lisa.. So I then installed the lisa-lib-1.0.20-1.fc(i586). Meanwhile, I configured sound in, out and ring to hw... Also disabled "Allow skype to adjust .. mixer level" . When I run skype from xtern, it still reports erors related to lisa.. But it works now...

Here is the new version that works with Fedora 13. It installs the latest Skype from the Skype repository (apparently the Skype repo was outdated in the past, but now it contains the same version as on the Skype website). First, create the skype.repo file in the zq3tf/etc/yum.repos.d directory:

I'm trying to install Skype in Fedora 12 KDE which I just installed recently. I tried downloading skype-2.1.0.47-fc10.i586.rpm and double-clicking on the .RPM and letting KPackageManager handle it but that returned and "unknown error". While on holiday skype on my laptop Fedora 11 just stopped working. It would no longer load. I tried removing it and reinstaling more than once now. the icon just sits there when clicked it does nothing. I am still struggling to get skype running on that platform, but it hardly works. First I tried to install skype-2.1.0.47-fc10.i586.rpm but it did not work, always ending in "Aborted (core dumped)".Then I found an entry in some forum and tried to use skype-2.1.0.47-fc9.i586. rpm, and it worked! I could make calls, the microphone was recognized and everything worked as it should be.
Until today. For reasons beyond my scope skype stopped working, and after I have looged in with my skype-name I got the above Aborted-message again. Even after the reboot of my Dell Laptop skype refused to work.I even installed all the recommended yum packages I found in this skype forum topic.Can anyone please advise me how to properly install a stable version of skype with Fedora 12? I searched the Fedora forums but did not use any useful entry.

I've seen a couple of threads about recent issues with skype, but nothing like this. Since today my mic is not working in skype (it does work otherwise, for exmaple in sound recorder). I'm using F11 x64. Yesterday I upgraded to the last skype version, and today the mic wasn't working. I downgraded now, thinking that was the problem, but still the same issue, so maybe some update did this (I'm not sure if alsa or pulseaudio got any update yesterday or today).
