I have nagios running fine on Linux. I would like my nagios system to forward all the emails to our internal SMTP gateway. How can I configure this? Is it necessary to run sendmail on linux to achieve this?

I have an email setup where all of the emails from our email host is downloaded to our Linux server using Fetchmail. Then some of the incoming emails are sent to an MS exchange server (server1.domain.com) using Postfix. What i want to do is to send a copy of all emails to Another server (server2.domain.com) for redundancy. Can postfix be configured to send copies out to both?

In my Windows environment, I use email client such as Microsoft Outlook to connect to our email server to send email with the following configuration:
Incoming server (POP3): 995 - (requires with SSL)
Outgoing server (SMTP): 465 - (use encrypted connection SSL)
[code]....
And the mail server requires user ID login and password.how do I setup a text command based email client in my Linux (Centos 5.1) to send out email through the existing email server above, which is in another machine? The email client has to be text command based because I need to use command line to send notification email from anothar application installed in my Linux (Centos 5.1) Since the email client will only be used to send email notification, I don't require setting up of an email server in my linux.

I've a webserver at 10.10.0.55. Above in the hierarchy are managed network cisco switch / router and ASA firewall (the usual stuff). I also have a mail server at 10.10.0.200. I was told by the network admin that he can't forward port 80 to webserver and port 25 to mail server. Basically he said that it's a one-to-one (external.ip-to-internal.ip) mapping and all traffic, no matter what port it's destined for must go to 10.10.0.55. So, I turn to the wonder that linux is. The webserver is running Centos 5.4. Currently, all packets on port 25 are coming to the webserver. I want to forward all these packets to the email server. Note: the webserver only has one interface: eth0. I turned to web for help and did this in iptables:
Code:
$IPT -A FORWARD -p tcp -s 0/0 -i eth0 -o eth0 -d 10.10.0.200 --dport 25 -m state --state NEW,ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT
It didn't work. I am assuming that since I only have one interface, a simple rule to the filter table and forward chain will not work.So i use the NAT table and try the following:
Code:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
$IPT -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -i eth0 --dport 25 -j LOG --log-prefix PortForward: --log-level 7
$IPT -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -i eth0 -d 68.***.26.*** --dport 25 -m state --state NEW,ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j DNAT --to-destination
[code]....
First of all, since there is no service/daemon listening on port 25 on the webserver, is it even going to work? Isn't the webserver simply going to discard packets on port 25? I am assuming that packets go through the iptables first, and so iptables should route the packets to the email server, where there is postfix listening on port 25. Am i right? Also, as you can see in the code above, all packets coming on port 25 on the webserver should be logged. But they aren't. In order to troubleshoot, I'd like to at least know that packets are coming into the iptables. But since it's not logging, I can't find out what's wrong.

Debian 5, apache 2.2 I've got Apache up and hosting multiple sites. Each site will have a php contact me page that will simply dump an email to a fixed address. What program should i be using to accomplish this? I've used nullmailer before but that assumes you have a fixed smarthost somewhere which I don't.

I have one Centos Server and I want to forward root mail to 1 external account: [URL] I installed sendmail and created /root/.forward with this content: [URL] and I sent a test mail with this command: /usr/sbin/sendmail root <prueba.txt But nothing was forwarded.
After that I ran the same command with the verbose option:
/usr/sbin/sendmail -v root <prueba.txt
And this is the output:

For some reason sendmail tried to connect to example.com smtp server and couldn't reach it. I am sure this is because the smtp server for example.com domain is not example.com is mail.example.com. Besides mail.example.com requires authentication, username , password and the smtp port is not the default 25 is 9999. configure sendmail to forward root mail to a smtp server that requires authentication, username, password with a not the default 25 port?

easier way to forward email, in postfix, from a user to one domain for the user without listing every domain and user name? Example:send all of user joe's email to joe@somewhere, in which there are mulitple domains other than "somewhere".
Usual Given Example-
/etc/postfix/virtual:
joe@example.com joe@somewhere
jane@example.com jane@somewhere-else
[code]....
I'm looking for an easier way to forward email, verses having (ex) 50 different lines for 5 users and 10 domains.

I have a server "test1" in domain [URL]. I installed sendmail on it. I have another mail server "mailsrv" installed in [URL] which is my primary mail server and contains all accounts and mailboxes. Now when I send email to [URL] from [URL] it sends successfully. But when I try to mail to user1@abc.com it tries to search user1 in [URL] but I want it to forward this mail to mailsrv.abc.com over SMTP port. Delivery will then be taken care by [URL]
My log shows following
Code:

Lets say i have two machines on public ips. If i get incoming traffic on machine #1 on port 55242 i would just like to forward it to machine #2 on port 35000.I would just like to use machine #1 same way as a dns server works. It just redirects the traffic and tells the client where to go.

OpenSUSE version: 11.2 *and* 10.0 I am unable to send email. It appears I am being blocked by my ISP [URL]... A Wireshark trace shows ICMP type 3 Code 13 - "Administratively filtered". It's important to note that I don't know exactly when the problem started, because I seldom use my ISP email account, I use Yahoo web mail due to the "throwaway" nature if I get hit with spam. I only discovered the problem when testing the functionality of 11.2. I suspect the problem started several months ago: I restored openSUSE 10.0 and the problem exists there too. I wish I'd sent that last email via 10.0 before the upgrade.
The weird thing is that using Windows 2000 box I can get a successful connection using telnet (Telnet also fails on the openSUSE box.) It appears to me there is something in the Linux TCP stack that Teksavvy doesn't like. I am on dial up and I pointed this out to Teksavvy tech support, as I am probably the only person left on dialup and the reason no one else has reported the problem

I recently Re-did my Postfix configuration using [URL] The thing that that guide did not tell me was how to get email to forward to other accounts or if I can point multiple accounts to the same place like here:
[Code]...
finally I tried putting a .forward record in /home/vmail/domain.com/username directory which didn't work either.

Id like to ask you some advice. Im currently using as mail server Lotus Domino. Because of many reasons I need to create an SMTP server that receive the email from Dominothat relay those email into an authenticated SMTP on the internet. How can I do that? I create a Debian virtual machine and I installed Postfix. I edit the config file and set the relay host (authenticated SMTP on internet),the mtp_sasl_auth_enabled and smtp_sasl_password_maps parameters. If I try to send an email using that SMTP server I got a message that say âśRelay access denied, check the email address†What did I do wrong

I have a recent install of Fedora14, and wanted to have outbound email sent to a smtp server elsewhere on the local network. I found the System->Preferences->Email Settings app and created a mail account with an smtp server. Now I am able to use mailx, mutt, and sendmail -- all send email correctly to the external server.
But I don't like being reliant on the GUI apps and wanted to know how this was done -- what system config files were affected. Assuming that my "smtp.xxx.com" server should show up somewhere, I grepped /home, /etc, and /var, but can't find it anywhere. On a whim I went into Evolution, deleted the mail account, and rebooted, but email STILL works. Where is this configured?

I added two new user to try on sending and receiving mail. It works. I run CentOS on VMplayer. I using my laptop to do all the stuff, the laptop default OS is windows 7, I install VM player on it and run CentOS inside the VM Player.
I want to do testing on Windows 7 side by installing Thunderbird email client program, I want to connect to mail server with SMTP, IMAP/POP3 using the email service. I have problem while setting up user account on Thunderbird, Thunderbird seems like cannot detect my CentOS mail server. How? Do I have to do any other configuration on CentOS? Any DNS? Port number for IMAP, POP3 or SMTP?

Having trouble visualising how IP-Based Virtual Host (with SSL) would work. Here is my vhosts.conf file:
Code:
#Define Name Virtal Host
NameVirtualHost 10.10.0.54:80
#Used to replace the main server host. The log file will reside in /var/log/httpd/error_log
[Code]....
How will it work? I will need to forward port 443 to the 10.10.0.55 interface right? Without doing that, there is no way this is going to work... is there? And that means that I can't run more than 1 ip-based SSL virtual host on one machine because I can't forward 443 to two different interfaces.
Also, do I use internal ip address or external ip address in the <VirtualHost > tag? I only have one static public ip.

We have MS Exchange email server with postfix/amavis on FreeBSD as proxy for anti-spam and anti-virus. We use our own developed CRM and trying to implement such functionality that when CRM manager send email to CRM client or vice versa through email client like Outlook (no plugins for CRM) this message would be shown in CRM. There is already a solution to parse emails from specific emailbox and show it in CRM.
What I need is to create postfix email filter to check if sender email is in file CRM_managers_emails and recipient email is in file CRM_clients_emails then forward that email to [URL] Filter should check both incoming and outgoing messages. I will auto generate CRM_managers_emails and CRM_clients_email files containing all such emails taken from CRM database. I know i should use something like Postfix After-Queue Content Filter but most of examples are for blocking emails.

I was not sure if Desktop meant 'Desktop vs Server', or Desktop as in relation to Windows Managers.
I want to move a domain from one web host to another. I also want to preserve my email. Does anyone have a recommendation for software which will allow me to:
(1) Copy current web host email locally
(2) Switch web hosts
(3) Populate new web host with local copy
I've looked at imapcopy and imapsync. Unfortunately, both want Server -> Server. I briefly looked at setting up a local IMAP server (dovecot-imap), but it is clear that this is more ISP-grade. I did not see a quick example of user management in [URL], and I don't really want to spend days working on the configuration.
Any recommendations for software that allows me to 'backup' and 'restore' to/from a local file store?

I installed the citadel suite on ubuntu server 9.10 Email obviously works fine internally. I tried to setup a smart host to send my mail through as my isp(Verizon) obviously blocks port 25. I tried to send out the Verizon smtp server on port 587. In the Administration> Domain names and Internet mail configuration>Smarthosts. My smarthost entry on the citadel configureation page above was usernameassword@outgoing.verizon.net:587 but after sending an outgoing email, it comes back with a "invalid/host-not-in-DNS return address not allowed"
I have also tried using gmail and a hotmail account with the respective smtp address's in but they come back with "Must issue a STARTTLS command first".I have researched both messages and come up with squat that has helped me.
I know that my mail will have to go out through a smarthost of somekind. So is am I on the right track with choosing verizon/gmail/or something else as my smtp relay, or is there a free service out there that I can send email through(haven't found one if there is)
Anyone else ever setup Citadel and got around their isp blocking port 25?I am also not sold on citadel, it was just the first/ nicest looking one that I found.
