Fedora :: Firfox 3.6.13 - Have To Do Some Refresh Before The Web Page Come Up
Apr 28, 2011
I use Firfox 3.6.13 with Fedora 14 but it seem work not well I have do some refresh before the web page come up. Is it the problem with Firfox 3.6.13 or Fedora 14?
I am impressed with the visuals of both Ubuntu 10.04 and Firefox 3.6, but unfortunately I've been experiencing a very annoying issue since my install of 10.04 two days ago.
When I begin a Firefox session (using profile manager, in case it might have any relevance to the issue) it moves at lightning speed for the first five or so pages. Then, if I try a website it will time out (I have tried various pages, so it is not a page-specific issue) forcing me to refresh the page, wait roughly ten seconds, and finally be back on the initial page.
I am too lazy to re-list my PC stats, but they can be found in my signature. I am running on a household network, with the average connection speed ranging from from 40-80%.
The only other Ubuntu release I have used is Jaunty, where Firefox 3.0 (was it really 3.0 back then?) worked perfectly.
I have installed Google Chrome as well, and it seems to have the same relative issue, but it manages to recover from the timeouts quickly.
My only thought is perhaps it is an internal Internet setting that is disturbing the browser(s), potentially a default setting that has been modified since 9.04?
How to refresh a page automatically?Say for example i need to refresh page in ubuntuforums to get new questions.I feel lazy to refresh the page often. Is it possible to refresh the page automatically in a specific time interval?I have tried ReloadEvery Firefox Add-on.But it refresh all the tabs. What i want is i want to refresh a page in a particular TAB.
On FC11 64 bit with Adobe flash plugin for Linux installed, I see segfault errors from "npviewer" in /var/log/messages. The only browser I have tried yet, Firefox, has glitches every now and then. Sometimes it shows the title of a page in a tab, but the page is blank. This can even happen when I try the Google main page. Is it true that npviewer has something to do with Adobe flash? Is there a way to fix the problem? If it is caused by Adobe flash, is there a different plugin that will replace Adobe flash player?
I have apache httpd server on my Fedora 10I got 2 problems:First : I copied the web page files to its Document Root <var/www/html> & Disabled the default web page. But when I visit http:/localhost ,it shows up the list of files in <var/www/html> as if a ftp server browsed in web page. So how can I set http://localhost load my default web page index.html ?Second :I want to set up a web server on Internet through my router . I applied for DDNS account & input it into router correctly . I set virtual host in server to redirect any access from port 80 to 192.168.1.2:80 in LAN . Just for in case , I also download and running the DDNS software & installed it on PC 192.168.1.2 in LAN . My DDNS provider is oray.cn . It's a Chinese server provider . I don't think there is anything wrong with oray.cn . But if you need its information just visit oray.cn (Google can translate it for you). So I want to know did I miss something to set up a web server in this kind of situation
I have a Canoscan LiDE 30 scanner which works fine in Linux. I haven't used it in months, and never since moving from Jaunty x86_64 to Fedora 11 x86_64. This evening I suddenly need to scan two pages to send to someone via e-mail, and the recipient is desperate to receive them. Naturally, Xsane has decided this is the moment to screw me.
The problem: I cannot figure out how to tell Xsane that the page size is 8.5 11. It insists on scanning only the left side, 3.99 x 11. I cannot find a page size anywhere in any of the buttons.
In Preview I once got it to scan the entire page, but could not figure out how to save the image to file. Subsequently I have not been able to figure out how I did it. In any event, scanning from the small main window always scans 3.99 x 11. Adjusting the scan area manually in the Preview window allows me to change the size area in the small main window to 8.5 x 11, but when I then scan from the small main window it reverts to 3.99 x 11.
I have scanned the document a hundred times at least, each time trying different buttons, but nothing has succeeded in getting the full page.
I have installed Fedora 15 but find that there is no option for setting the Refresh Rate in Display Settings. This is needed since when I set the Screen Resolution to 1024 x 768, the vertical scroll bar goes out of the screen.
I have been using Windows on my laptop, but recently switch to Fedora 14. However, there seems to be a screen refresh rate issue that i didn't encounter when using Windows. The symptom is that when I scroll down through the browser page, the content become gibberish and unreadable. I have to do a refresh to read that content.
I did some searching on the Internet and found that it may be able to fix by updating driver, but i have no idea what and how to do it. can someone suggest a solution? can i use yum?
I'm having a problem with my monitor's refresh rate after the most recent round of updates issued on March 6. When I login after a period of inactivity my monitor's refresh rate is set at 60 Hz, even though I always keep it set at 85 Hz.So I have to go in and change the refresh rate back to 85 Hz every time I log in to my computer. This has only started happening after the most recent updates.I tried downgrading X to a previous version but that did not fix the problem. I have an Nvidia graphics card and am using the Nouveau driver. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
I am having trouble updating with Yum.When I open a new terminal and use 'sudo yum update' I get the following Loaded plugins: dellsysidplugin2, refresh-packagekit [URL]: [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error [Errno -3] Temporary failure in name resolution> Trying other mirror. Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: adobe-linux-i386. verify its path and try again
I try to stay max 3 releases behind with Fedora, and now it is time to upgrade from a well behaving Fedora 8 to Fedora 11, not to slip too far behind. I have an Intel motherboard with a 82865G video chip. My display is a BenQ FP731. Fedora 8 the display works nicely giving 1280x1024 resolution at 72 Hz. On Fedora 11 the 865G chip ensists on setting the refresh rate to 75 Hz. I have copied the xorg.conf I use in Fedora 8 to /etc/x11/xorg.conf in the Fedora 11 installation. The chip sets itself to 60 Hz or 75 Hz, but not the desired 72 Hz which would give clear picture. What am I missing here?
Below a copy of my xorg.conf that gives the crystal clear and desired 1280x1024 @ 72Hz in Fedora 8 but gives a shivering and unusable 1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz in Fedora 11:
---- clip clip ---- # Xorg configuration created by system-config-display #Section "Module" #Load "glx" #Load "dri" #EndSection #Section "Serverflags"
I am having trouble setting my refresh rate higher than 85 hz. Any Way to get it to 100 hz?
Tried so far: - a lot of googling - added a modeline to xorg.conf - reinstalled nvidia driver - tried the screen on a windows desktop, this worked so the monitor is fine
Specs: onitor: Iiyama Vision master pro 510 (should be capable of doing 104 hz at 1600 x 1200, max resolution 2048 x 1536) graphics card: Geforce 9800gt motherboard: p5ql-e Os: Fedora 13
The modeline I tried, tried it both in screen section as well as in a seperate "Modes" section: Code: Modeline "1600x1200_100.00" 280.64 1600 1728 1904 2208 1200 1201 1204 1271 -HSync +Vsync After restarting X the screen only does 1024x768 max because of the modeline
xorg.conf: Code: # nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig # nvidia-xconfig: version 256.35 (buildmeister@builder97.nvidia.com) Wed Jun 16 19:15:05 PDT 2010 # Xorg configuration created by livna-config-display
What it does is, if you do something to change anything on the screen, for example, highlighting text, or switching from one tab/menu in an application to another. The screen doesn't show the change. The only way to SEE the change is to do something else to the screen, like grabbing and moving the application around, or scrolling the page of a website, etc. If you don't do that, you won't see what's really on the screen, but rather what WAS on the screen.
Another example:
*) say you have an application open with 3 tabs: tab1, tab2, and tab3. *) Switch from tab1 to tab2 and you see no change on the screen. *) Switch from tab2 to tab3 and you see tab 2 on the screen, NOT tab 3. *) Switch from tab3 to tab 2 and you see tab3 on the screen, and NOT tab2.
Or, if you're typing in this box to make a post, and you hit ctrl+a to select all, you see no change. If you click in the box to deselect all, then it looks like you've selected all text still. The only way to see what's currently on the screen is to scroll the text box or page just a bit, or, if you're using an application, then you'd have to move it around on the screen a bit.
As i've said, the nVidia drivers are installed and working, as well as compiz, etc.
Code: [=v=]$ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: ATI Technologies Inc RD890 Northbridge only single slot PCI-e GFX Hydra part (rev 02) 00:02.0 PCI bridge: ATI Technologies Inc RD890 PCI to PCI bridge (PCI express gpp port B)
[Code]....
Also, i did BOTH the dracut thing, and the extra kernel paramter in the grub.conf. So, nouveau is blacklisted. Oddly enough though, i do NOT have this problem when using the nouveau driver...
Also, fwiw, i think that i should mention that i'm not using the "Desktop Settings > Enable Desktop Effects" method, because i always seem to have problems with getting certain features to work, like the background for the cube skydome, etc. How i do it is that i install a package called compiz-manager, and i have it set to run at session start. This makes all of the compiz features work fine. One thing that i've noticed though, is that on my other workstation, i haven't set that up yet, and it seems that is is NOT having the same issue. While compiz-manager was running, i tried to use the "desktop settings" method, and it crapped out and reverted back to the old school desktop. I then tried it again, and it reloaded compiz, and there is no screen update issues now. So it seems that you have to have both of them running in order to get all of the compiz options to work, and not have the screen refresh issue?
I have laptop with Mobility Radeon HD3200 graphics. Gnome 3 works more or less fine until I start Skype. When Skype is running switching between the windows is a pain in the a$$. The screen flickers, looks crappy, takes ages to refresh, etc. Anyone experience similar things? I also noticed that when I start yumex I also get the screen doing the same things as with Skype, but to a much lesser extent and only for a few seconds. Could it be related to the network connection? Running F15 64
I recently switched my desktop from Fedora to CentOS. On Fedora it auto detects my refresh rate at 85 Hz. On CentOS by default it only allowed 60 Hz. I looked at the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and the display settings were:
i am able to try ubuntu and everything works fine until i try to install. the menu comes up to the first page where it tells you to plug in your machine and make sure there is enough disk space and network connectivity. when i hit next on this page the mouse icon changes but the next page never loads. the longest i let it hang there was 2 hours. ive tried multiple times with the same result.
im running from a flash drive on an ASUS Eee PC 1001P-PU17
What is my problem? I have a page (one page - text an graphic) to print. When I sent it to my printer it prints OK. When I sent it agian, the output is totally garbled. When I sent it again (a third time) it is OK. Sent it again (4th time) it is garbled. Sent it again ... you get the picture ;-). Alternating good and bad pages.
What is my setup? I run Fedora 14 with Cups 1.4.6. The printer is a HP Deskjet 940C. It is connected to a linksys wireless print server. It is configured in CUPS to use ipp printing. The driver I use in Cups is 'CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6 Simplified (color, 2-sided printing)'.
10.04; 64 bit In Firefox, the size of the fonts varies greatly from site to site. Some are too small to read, others huge. Some headings and menus overlap.Screen size: 1152 x 864
My settings are: Proportional: serif 14 Serif: Times New Roman Sans serif: Arial Monospace: Courier New 14
All has been fine with my emails but today morning when i tried to log on I got an error message "You must be logged in to access this page, go to logon page" I dont understand why even when i supply my correct user name and password.
wanted to know if i can execute commands on linux console through a web page and redirect it back to my web page !For example :if i send a query "ls"it should execute this command on my linux console and also redirect the list of the files to the web page from which i give the command !
I want to combine 4 ps(or pdf) page to single page and for this i have try a2ps command as:
a2ps -4 1.ps 2.ps 3.ps 4.ps -o outfile.ps
Event through it divide the page into four section. But only give one output of my four input. other three section is blank. Is i am doing some wrong or Is their any other command to do so.
When I boot slackware, I have all the boot process that run but too fast. I don't have time to read what's running. Is there a way to to go page by page. I didn't find any key in my keyboard to stop and go.
From some time now whenever i start the Package Manager it hangs at the line "Loaded Plugins: refresh-packagekit" I don't know the reason as it doesn't throw up any errors. Even if i reset the terminal. nothing changes. if i force quit then when i start package manager again (in the same boot) it stops and gives the message that other application has yum lock as i cannot auto install any software
I was able to set up my printer using a guide i found on this site. However when i print a page from my e-mail account, for example. It will either print the whole page with advertisements and all when i select print from the file menu up top or it will only print what is showing on the screen and cut off the rest of the words in the e-mail that are not showing on the screen, when i select print icon within the e-mail.
