From opera's webpage. Installed with double-click. Asked for root permissions... the standard way of installing. Neither CLI 'opera' nor the GUI's menu -> internet -> opera does anything!
I am using Opera 10.60 browser for the past one month. Generally it use to take about 20 seconds to startup but since yesterday its taking more than 40. I don't know about the exact duration but certainly its taking a lot of time now.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to v10.60, Opera will not run from the KDE menu. A entry appears in the taskbar and then disappears without opening any window. The entry for Opera in KDE menu has this command:

If I open a terminal and type "opera" or navigate to /usr/bin and click on the opera script there, it starts up just fine. Seems like it should be simple to fix, but I have tried various entries in the KDE menu ("opera", "opera %u", "/usr/bin/opera") and this same behavior occurs with any of them.
I've been using Opera 10.11 on two different computer systems, two different locations (work & home), and two different Slackware versions (13 & 13.1 current). Opera 10.11 runs very quickly on both. After upgrading to Opera 10.60, I now find that linking to new web pages takes 5 to 10 seconds, but returning to a previous page is almost instantaneous.
I've tried installing 10.60 using slackbuilds and Opera's installer - both give the same results. I've since reverted to Opera 10.11. why it is so slow to open web pages? Opera 10.60 for Win7 works great, so what happened to the Linux version?
Since this morning, I'm having a problem which symptoms are similar to this one : Cannot Login, KDE won't start - OpenSUSE 11.3, but it affects only one user.Everything was fine yesterday, but now, everytime this one user tries to start his KDE session, the screen goes black for a few seconds before coming back to the login screen.
I tried the following :
- I installed LXDE and tried to log in : same problem
- I tried to log in Xterm : no problem
- I created a new user and tried to log in : no problem, be it KDE or LXDE
- I cleared /tmp : same problem. My /home partition is 98% full but still has 2-3GB available. The / partition is 45% full with 28GB left.

From what I've gathered so far, it seems the problem is user-specific, graphical session-sepcific, but not desktop-specific (since both KDE and freshly installed LXDE fail in the same way)... and now I don't know what else to try.

I'd like Synergy to auto-start before and after login. After login is fine, but I can't find instructions for getting it to start before login (ie: so I can use synergy to enter user id/password). The Synergy docs don't cover LXDE.

When I did this using the given script it asked me to install it in the base directory /usr/ . I had my doubts but I agreed. I've installed Sun's Java and set it up so that is working in Firefox. But recently Ive changed to Opera, and was wondering how to set Java to work with Opera. I've already marked Tools>Preferences>Advanced>Content>Enable Java.

View 14 Replies View RelatedLubuntu is nice - but it seems the LXDE version is not as up to date as Fedora LXDE Spin or even Debian squeeze with LXDE installed. I do like Chromium on Lubuntu though... its faster and a nice touch. I am looking for a lightweight 64-bit distribution for my main laptop (it is by no means "old" or "low spec" but I like that Lubuntu starts up in like 2 secs).
LXDE version seems not to be recent (esp in 10.04 version which seems to work more stably for me - with Nvidia drivers etc)64 bit install is currently a pain - requires first install of minimal CD or alternate CD both of which required wired Ethernet, then install of lubuntu from PPA. Native 64-bit support would be nice. Linux Mint LXDE, for example, is also only 32-bit.
I installed LXDE and want to choose each boot whether to run Gnome or LXDE. However Gnome gets started automatically without me being able to choose. Are there any config files I have to edit?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe new release of Opera 10.60 doesn't recognize the -notrayicon option anymore. If you had this option in your menu, then Opera doesn't start anymore and dies silently. You won't get an error message, and this error can keep you quite puzzled.
The solution is to remove the -notrayicon option from the menu entry. In opera, go to opera:conf and find the "notrayicon" option and disable it.
I've tried to do a clean install of F10 on one of my pcs. I deselected Gnome and only selected LXDE. But after the installation-proces finished and I did a reboot, I only got a commandline in which I only was able to log into as root. No LXDE. Nor did the command "startx" start X. to my surprise. On another pc I did an install of F10 with Gnome and later on I've installed LXDE. After a reboot I was able to select LXDE in gdm. But how can I get a clean install of F10 with only LXDE? What am I missing here?

I've tried everything to have this key sequenced passed to Eclipse under Openbox, but it seems Openbox is taking itI've tried commenting out all the C-A-Up settings in rc.xml, but that doesn't seem to work. How to configure Openbox (or whomever) to pass the sequence on to the application?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use LXDE for about 2 days now, having several issues, but most important, its the only DE that hangs up itself every 10-60 minutes.
All i do is surf the web, watch a movie or listen music (mp3). I have no idea what could it cause, i dont get a error message.
Its acting like, do you know the old hughe black vynil long play discs? when they had a scratch, they were repeating it over and over and over and over and over and over... Well its kinda the same, just that it repeats either the music or the video (just the audio), mouse is frozen, and nothing but power shutdown works anymore.
After the 3 other DE's i was using, i kinda like LXDE the most, but that bug (?) is pretty annoying.
Does fedora 12 lxde spin have opeoffice.org?
