Since today FC12 was launch officially, I am looking for some "boot.iso" (i386 and ppc64) for minimal installations.
I already found boot.iso for i386 (or i686) at fedora.c3sl.ufpr.br (although is was last modified at Nov 8 and not at Nov 17). But I can't find for ppc64 for FC12.
So, where can I download the boot.iso for FC12 and PPC64?
I'm attempting to install either F10 or F11 for PPC (from DVD) on an IBM P505 (1-U rackmount dual Power5 server) The machine has no video card, only a serial console, so I'm attaching a laptop via null-modem cable and using either Hyperterminal or Tera Term Pro to interact with it. With the terminal attached and set to 19200 N-8-1, when I boot the machine from the installation DVD I see the POST / management firmware messages and get to the boot: prompt with no problem. I've tried the following combinations:
boot: linux
boot: linux text
boot: linux text serial
In all cases, the kernel boots normally (the messages come out clearly on the console). Once Anaconda starts up, however, all the installation dialogs are garbled -- the text and entry fields aren't lined up, the navigation elements only partially work, and all of the "outline / box" elements are rendered using strange characters that wrap around at the end of lines. I've tried various terminal emulation settings in Tera Term / Hyperterminal with the same results. One additional bit of information is that in the F10 install, the "skip media check" dialog is displayed correctly, whereas with F11 it is garbled in the same way as the subsequent Anaconda dialogs.
The upshot is that I can't proceed with the installation. I know that earlier versions of Anaconda must have worked with this system, because one of my colleagues had repeatedly (re-)installed RHEL5 on the machine. He's also installed F10 on a Mac G5 server from the same media, but of course that machine has a graphics adapter and a traditional monitor-keyboard-mouse arrangement.
where do i find out the latest news and tech info about support in debian for nvidia cards on the ppc64 platform? i have lenny installed on a g5 single 1.8 ppc64 mac and am experiencing problems viewing output from videos that i believe are related to video support or rather lack there of.

As a virtual machine have no BIOS issue, so that's not it. I did burn and not just copy files, so that's not it either. Anyone have any ideas?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWas running the upgrade through the manager this morning and the download got about 3/4 of the way and froze up making the system unresponsive I left this for an hour to see if it would resolve its self but no luck so as the installation hadn't begun I hit the power button. BIG mistake now when I try boot to 9.10 it hits a black screen with white ubuntu logo much like 9.10 but no loading bar. it just hangs at this now. I am currently posting this from a live usb I made from an ISO of 10.4 i downloaded on my girl friends windows machine. Is it possible to either fix the 9.10 installation or update the files on the 9.10 installation to 10.4 from the live disk(I have the option to make a 9.10 live disk if needed)?

View 11 Replies View Related1) Any process (including boot, shutdown, download, open programs, etc) is freeze (don't have any progress) until I move the mouse or hit any button, so for install and use my ubuntu I have to keep moving my mouse and as you imagine is VERY TIRED.2) I get some general freeze on random times, neither the mouse, keyboard or process move, I notice that if I unplug power it unfreze, and I can work for some time.This 2 problems annoy me a lot, and I suspect is a problem related to my Netbook Model, I read about someone that has the same problem but no solution there.
This is what I did:I Try Ubuntu loading from my USB memory (1GB), run very good but with the 2 problems, but I thought it can be resolved installing.I installed along side with W7, couldn't boot Ubuntu, so I configured GRUB2 and it could enter now, but if I don't press **** after selecting Ubuntu it give me the BusyBox, and then the same 2 problems.I get rid of my W7 and did a Full Install on my 160GB HDD, hoping it can work fine, but no.I install all updates and no effect on that.
I am at a university where my bandwidth is severely capped. I can start several other computers near me and download at the limited speed simultaneously. Is there any way for me to share the download between the computers to get the cumulative speed?

What I'm looking for is a solution or a pointer in the right direction to setup on our local Ubuntu server a sort of cache. Each day each Ubuntu on the network, checks for updates and downloads, and installs. What I'm looking for is a way for one machine to download the update and then the others to download from the local resource.
A sort of local cache to try and minimise everyone downloading straight from the net for pretty much the same updates. I did a emerge cache many years ago when I was using Gentoo, so I'm wondering what I can use/do here with Ubuntu as we are all loving this distro now.

I cannot begin to describe. All those hours of downloading for nothing! What the heck is happening here? When I try to just continue on, I get error code 3 aborts and have to just start all over.
First I go to the following URL to download the latest version of VLC Player, which I greatly prefer to Totem or any other standard Linux video/audio player: http://www.fileguru.com/Movie-Player/download. After I click on the "Download" link, a new window appears which asks me if I want to 1) Open with Archive Manager (default) or 2) Save File. There is a drop down arrow next to the first choice which only gives "Other..." as the only other choice. Well, if I choose the first option, the download appears as an .exe file in the "Downloads" window.
A window with "Download Error" in its Title Bar appears with the following message in it: "/tmp/VLC_Player_Setup-3.exe could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences." I don't even know yet how to even open up an .exe file in Linux, despite repeated research.
In both my updater applet and in YAST, I keep getting the error that:

I've been getting this error when trying to upgrade packages with slapt-get:

Not sure what's going on. I tried to use --clean and tried to use a different mirror, but still getting the error.
I messed up my kvm virtualization, I think. I want to reload it. I think I'm supposed to type yum install aptName.Is that right?Also, I don't know what to put in for aptName. I can't find the package names on the Fedora site. Where did they hide it? Also, where do I download apts. I searched with Google and find all kinds of sites I don't trust.

I just tried to download f14 onto a windoze box, because my Linux (F11) box is not connected (Cant get wireless usb to work)! After over an hour, I have a loose collection of files, when I thought I was downloading an 'ISO' file! Where Do I go to download an earlier version (F12 or F13), maybe they will give me a 'true' single 'ISO' file? (Fedoraproject only shows F14, no other options.)

I have just installed fedora 14 for 2 weeks. After installing the Tetom plugin I can't download video and Mp3 files from my desired sites. When I enter to those sites a Plug-in (which I'm not sure that is it related to Tetom or not) starts and tries to play that video or MP3. But before installing that pliging I didn't have this problem and when I press on download link, It opened a pop-up window and asked for downloading and saving location. However I unistalled that pluging but my problem doesn't solve. I attached two pictures. The first picture shows a page which when I'm going to download a movei it goes to a "Code Page" and I can not download !! and the second one shows when I'm trying to download a Mp3 file. As you can see in the second picture there is a new Icon at the left hand of Greasemonkey Icon which i think problem is with that one !

Is it possible to download the same torrent from two different operating system, or at least from two different Linux on the same computer, and have it updated? I have Ubuntu installed on one partition, the other is Fedora. Transmission is installed on both Linux.

I was able to do this before I reinstalled FC15 from scratch due to samba issues (which are still issues that I am working on!) what settings I need to change so I can upload AND download.
