I can't get the MPEG decoder plug in so i can listen to my tunes that I have in itunes on my windows os. When I go search to find the plug in it searches for it but then says "Could not find plugin in any configured software source" Please help because I would enjoy fedora a lot better if i could listen to my music. I use to have Kubuntu, but I switched to fedora because Kubuntu was having the same problem. Once again please help, and remember I'm new.

how do i successfully convert jpg's to a mpg
i found this command 'convert *.jpg filename.mpeg' part of ImageMagick
when i issue it i get
Code:
[kp@freeze photos2]$ convert *.jpg clock.mpeg
convert: delegate failed `"ffmpeg" -v -1 -mbd rd -flags +4mv+aic -trellis 2 -cmp 2 -subcmp 2 -g 300 -pass 1/2 -i "%M%%d.jpg" "%u.%m" 2> "%Z"' @ error/delegate.c/InvokeDelegate/1061.

Have a system that previously had F9 and F10 on it, with video hardware:
Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
xorg.conf is using
Driver "intel"
F9 and F10 would pass MPEG to the video card for accelerated decoding and playback and it worked just great in VLC, MPLAYER, etc.
F11 installed (fresh install, not upgrade) and the accelerated path seems to be gone. CPU utilization goes very high when playing back any MPEG video.
Additionally, the following information is observed coming out of MPLAYER:
MPEG-ES file format detected.
VIDEO: MPEG2 1920x1080 (aspect 1) 59.940 fps 15000.0 kbps (1875.0 kbyte/s)
================================================== ========================
Opening video decoder: [mpegpes] MPEG 1/2 Video passthrough
[Code]....
It looks to me like the video driver is being queried whether it supports Mpeg PES colorspace, and the answer seems to be no, so then it falls back to software decoding.

I am having some trouble with xine, and because of this I cannot get any media player to work. When I try to play mp3's in Amarok, nothing happens and the song does not play. When I try to open xine, it opens a window that says
The stream 'There is no MRL' uses an unsupported codec:
Video Codec: MPEG 1/2 (0x0)
Start playback anyway?

I use a commercial finite element code to produce animated GIF files of my calculation results. In case you are interested, the code is COMSOL Multiphysics 4.0a, running on Fedora 13 x86_64. Note that the FEA code only has the option of saving movies as animated GIF files in Linux.
These GIF files tend to be quite large, and although they are adequate for my own use on my local computer system, I wish to convert these files into other standard formats of more manageable size. These smaller files would then be easier to distribute to others or to include in presentations and reports.
I would like to ask for recommendations for either GUI-based video player/conversion applications or command line codes that could, for example, convert from animated GIF files to MPEG files. I would prefer an application that allows for multiple input/output format choices as well as conversion options for changing the playback speed, splicing out a portion of the original animation, etc.

I could not watch films or listen to the music.
When I press search codecs got error: Could not find plugin in any configured software source.
The playback of this movie requires a MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) decoder plugin which is not installed.
The playback of this movie requires a XVID MPEG-4 decoder plugin which is not installed.

I have a DVD of which has been created for me, I want to rip the content so I can play bits of it on my website.
How do I go about ripping the DVD to mpeg format?
I have tried using k9copy but even though the application looks to be doing things I can't seem to see the finished file.
My DVD has about 11 chapters. Is there a way to merge them all into one mpeg file?

I have just captured some screen-shots with GTK-RecordMyDesktop, but now I can't use them. The videos plays right in vlc and totem, but crashs Pitivi and turn into pink splotches in kdenlive. When I convert them using ffmpeg, the video turns into blue and pink splotches. Here is how I'm converting it:Code:ffmpeg -i out.ogv out2.mpgConverting it with vlc crashes the program.I never had problems like this before. I have used recordmydesktop and ffmpeg many times, but on a 32bit computer. I have a 64 pc now, running ubuntu 10.04 x64.

This is my first post in this forum. After trying out every video compositing program I found for Linux, I am about to settle with KDEnlive. It looks like the best allrounder professional program in this section to me.
I only got one problem. I cant encode files with mpeg-4. All options here are grayed out and if I hover over one of the options for a moment it's going to tell me:
"Unsupported audio codec: libmp3lame" Whats funny is that it worked a time before i reinstalled my system. I also checked and I got libmp3lame installed. So why has KDEnlive problems to access this library?

Ubuntu 9.10 and Gnome 2.28.1
I have a set of MPEG-4 files, all created by Handbrake, sitting in a directory.
Most of them have an icon that shows a still from the video content, but four of them have the generic "film spool" icon.
Why do some of these files have that generic "film spool" icon? How can I choose the frame to be used as the icon?
