I never usually have a problem with this, but for some reason it seems to be doing this whenever I try to rip something. On a side note, I am running on Obuntu 9.10 and have K9Copy version 2.3.0 installed. I have tried installing several other versions, but it does the same thing with each.

I have been able to open the MTS file with OpenShot and KdenLive but they aren't really for converting files or at least I haven't figured out how to do it. I am trying to use 'convert' in command prompt to convert image file format.I get the following error.

I've been using linux for a long time, and I just ran into a problem that has me stumped. Any time I mistype a command, it says "Command not found."... yea, I know that's normal. But it doesn't return me to my # prompt. I have to press Ctrl+C to get back. code...
I know I do have one issue with this computer, I have 2 blown caps on my motherboard. This was a dual boot system, but after a virus with winblows, I decided to switch it to strictly linux. (roommates... *grumble*) I think I was running fc10 before I wiped the hd & installed fc12. Fc12 does seem to be running slower, and I still haven't got my sound card working properly... but that issue is for another topic...

So, I have this awesome idea whereby I will, every few minutes, dynamically generate a nightside view of the earth.That's the Fourmilabs sat image. I want to set it as my wallpaper. I have already written the bash script to download it and drop it into my wallpaper directory, and I'm using kcron to update my wallpaper. Here's my problem. That URL yields an image, but I can't figure out how to convert that image to a usable file format. It's OTF generated, so unlike other sites that have a format like .../image.jpg, this URL isn't playing nice.

i was trying to install windows xp on vbox, but the cd wont work, so i want to make an iso image from the cd and run it from that. after some research, i found this code to use disk dump and make a raw cd image:

I'd like to write a bash script to convert all of the .mpg files in a directory to .avi files. The ffmpeg part of this produces the kind of file that I want, but rather than changing the name of the input and output files each time that I run the script, I'd like to automate it. I've tried this script, but I get an error "command not found".

I have been following the Xen Beginners Guide here: [URL] .....
Everything was going smoothly until I got to the 'Configuring xen-tools and building our guest' section (two thirds down the page).
I installed xen-tools and then typed the following in a terminal window (as root):
xen-create-image --hostname=development-pv-guest --memory=2048mb --vcpus=2 --lvm=develop --dhcp --pygrub --dist=jessie
I admit PV is new to me, compared to simple HVM, so I have a number of questions:
1. Why the command not found error?
2. Should I be booting from the Xen option or regular boot option at the start up screen when creating the xen image? I've tried both and get the same error message.
3. I have Debian 8 (Jessie) installed on my system and I wasn't sure whether I should therefore make this the guest OS in my Xen PV. In asking this question I'm thinking in terms of HVMs - but I assume my Xen PV needs a guest OS of some kind? Or is my host Debian 8 already acting as a guest OS in Xen PV? I'm confused
4. If I do need to install a guest OS, is it better to go for an earlier version of debian - so as not to be so resource hungry?
I'm nervous about screwing up my host debian installation, so when I got the error message, did some research but found nothing meaningful. I don't want to end up having to reinstall my Debian 8 (base OS) ... again!
I need to convert an mpeg into a series of still images but I cant find any software on linux to do this unless you know of any software that can convert video into vector style graphics
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having problems installing fortran g95 compiler. I followed the exact instructions listed on the website The G95 Project (click on manual tab for further details), but I am still getting this error when I try using the driver:

Here is what I did:
>wget -O - http://ftp.g95.org/g95-x86-linux.tgz | tar xvfz -
The program installed properly, and I was able to verify the installation in /usr/share/g95-install. All the libraries were installed, and I was able to run the actual "executable" when I cd'ed to its directory) Next I created a symbolic link to the driver so that I could run from anywhere using g95 command:
>ln -s $PWD/g95-install/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu-g95 /usr/bin/g95
Again I was able to verify that the link was created in /usr/bin. I also verified that /usr/bin was on my PATH using $PATH command.

I am running 10.10 64-bit and am trying to get an option in WinFF to convert an MPEG file to an iPod compatible video. All of the HOT_TO guides I could find involve installing the FFmpeg libraries, which I have done as well as I could have.The problem is that within WinFF, I don't see anything different in the "Convert To ..." drop-down. The Wiki I am reading tells me to select iPod, but this isn't available.What do I need to do to get this to be selectable?
