Fedora :: Can't Play Mp3 - Says That In Need A Mpeg 1 Layer 3 Plugin
Oct 5, 2010Im new to Fedora and im already loving it. I only have one problem and that is that I can't play mp3 files. I use Rhythmbox 0.13.1 and it starts but when I play a mp3, It says that in need a mpeg 1 layer 3 plugin. I already found a tutorial that says that i need to install these.

gstreamer-plugins-ugly
gstreamer-plugins-bad
gstreamer-ffmpeg
Only when I try to install them this comes up:
No package gstreamer-plugins-ugly available.

May 14, 2010I have some videos made with a digital camera in mjpeg format and I want to convert so something else, into xvid, mkv or I dont know, just to made them smaller without quality lose. So is there something GUI for this, or I need to start reading the mencoder man page?

Nov 28, 2010This is my first post in this forum. After trying out every video compositing program I found for Linux, I am about to settle with KDEnlive. It looks like the best allrounder professional program in this section to me.
I only got one problem. I cant encode files with mpeg-4. All options here are grayed out and if I hover over one of the options for a moment it's going to tell me:
"Unsupported audio codec: libmp3lame" Whats funny is that it worked a time before i reinstalled my system. I also checked and I got libmp3lame installed. So why has KDEnlive problems to access this library?

I have a set of MPEG-4 files, all created by Handbrake, sitting in a directory.
Most of them have an icon that shows a still from the video content, but four of them have the generic "film spool" icon.
Why do some of these files have that generic "film spool" icon? How can I choose the frame to be used as the icon?

Jan 15, 2010I have been having a problem with K9 Copy whenever I try to convert a DVD to MPEG files using the method without encoding, but for some reason lately it seems to be splitting each episode into about 6 or 7 pieces instead of just one. I never usually have a problem with this, but for some reason it seems to be doing this whenever I try to rip something. On a side note, I am running on Obuntu 9.10 and have K9Copy version 2.3.0 installed. I have tried installing several other versions, but it does the same thing with each.

Aug 26, 2010Something seems to be wrong with the form redraw. When I open a movie in movieplayer, it looks Ok until I try to resize the window or move it. Then it draws crazy, repeats elements in the form, and kills the movie image. You can still hear it, but it's black. Something is up with the software that draws apps on the screen. Have you seen this or have an idea what might be going on?

General :: VLC Does Not Play AVI Files With Motion JPEC Codec
Jul 7, 2011I used vlc to play some videos, than I was playing with programs and I install ffmpeg and kino. Now vlc doesn't play avi files with the motion jpec codec. All that I see now is a green screen and I can hear the audio. Everything else is fine, I can play those videos with Movie Player. I'm using debian squeeze.

General :: Use A Media Player Just To Play Files From An IPod Device
Mar 4, 2011I have an ipod classic 160gb, that I sync with my machine at home.
I use Linux at work, and want to just plug my ipod and just listen to the tracks, with all the playlists and such. I don't want to sync nothing, I just want to listen to the tracks as if I was using the ipod itself.
Why? Because this way I can use the usb port.
So, I don't want to manage my ipod in Linux, I just want to listen to the tracks on it in Linux, like it was a local library but it's instead in my ipod.
(I've tried gtkpod, it works to show my files, but I can't play, shuffle, etc. It would be interesting to have a complete audio software to handle everything like it was a local library)
