I just upgraded from wheezy 7.2.0 to jessie 8.2.0 . I am still running sys v init.
I cannot run bluetooth because bluetoothd dies with the error "Failed to access management interface"
Code: Select allllewelly@zorthluthik:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth start
Starting bluetooth: bluetoothd.
llewelly@zorthluthik:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth status
bluetooth is not running ... failed!
llewelly@zorthluthik:~$ sudo /usr/lib/bluetooth/bluetoothd -n

All of the above worked fine before I upgraded.
Here is the bluetooth device section from lsusb -v :

Today i upgraded my system and started getting error when i update, install or remove a package. The error isn't restricted only to one repository so i thing something is wrong with my system.
I finally convinced my wife to remove Windows from her Acer Aspire 5680 and instead to use OpenSuse, but unfortunately I am having some major trouble for no reason.
You see as soon as I installed the OS, I tried to add some new programs, like Thunderbird, etc but I keep getting an Accessing the Package Management failed error message. It says that it can't continue because process 9172 is blocking it. But I opened the System Monitor and can't find the **** 9172! My OpenSuse installation doesn't have this problem.
Is there a way to enable a web interface to access openssh-server on my vps incase i'm on a network that does not permit outbound port tcp 22 or any other port of my choosing?

I've gone though the system purging/removing what I don't require on my Fedora install using the graphical tool in gnome 3. I then used package-cleanup --leaves to clean up some cruft left behind. yum list installed shows I still have 1031 packages installed, which is about 400 more than similar setups I used to have on Debian, and truthfully on Debian I have more stuff installed that I've still got to install here (gimp, nvidia drivers, etc).
I see a buch of stuff in yum list installed I don't need, so I can use yum remove foo to cleanup some more, but I'm wondering if there's another graphical interface or perhaps and advacned option in the add/remove software application I've been using thus far.
I'm looking for a Postfix Management Web interface for user, domains, etc... The problem is I'm not using mysql for domains/users, so I can't use postfixadmin. I use virtual mailboxes as described here: [URL]
Basically all mappings are saved inside an /etc/postfix/vmaps file. The users/passwords files are in /home/vmail/passwd and /home/vmail/shadow. Users are in /home/vmail/$domain/$user
I searched for a web management tool that supports my config for weeks now, and can't seem to find any...
Got a problem with the plasma network management widget. Let's say I connect to a wireless network at my office called "Network A". I then go home and try connecting to my wireless network, "Network B". Assume each has WEP encryption. When I click on my home network, the wallet-manager pops up first. I enter my password. I then see that instead of adding a new network, it has "Network A" selected for editing. This happens every single time. What is going on here? I don't want a bunch of posts naming WICD either. I want to use the plasma widget because I like it. So what's up with it overwriting other network connections when you try adding a new one?
I'm running Squeeze with Gnome & GDM3. After 1 h my laptop automatically suspends while in the login screen (GDM3; so no user login). I want to prevent that, since this machine also has a server role. how this can be prevented?
On a fresh install of Debian 8 with XFCE (with a NVIDIA GeForce 210 according to lspci, and a P7P55D Asus mainboard), I just added a second monitor. This second monitor does not switches off even though the first one does due to the Screensaver Preferences → Advanced → Off After 3 minutes.
The new screen is a HP Pavilion 25xw plugged in using a HDMI cord.
The old screen is a Philips 190S plugged in using a VGA cord.
The new screen (HP on HDMI) only goes blank when the old one (Philips VGA) turns off.
Two tests:
- on the same machine, I also have Windows XP: both screens turns off at the same time with the power management. - I tried on Debian: Code: Select allsleep 5 && xrandr --output HDMI-1 –off
It turns off the second monitor, so I know that it is possible to turn it off from my Debian.
How to set up the system so that both monitors power off when the machine is not used?
After updating and subsequently restarting today, I can no longer bring up my wireless interface:
ifup wlan0 SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132 Could not set interface 'wlan0' UP SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132 SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132 Failed to bring up wlan0
iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions.

Lately when I've tried to update my packages many of them don't update. I get nothing out of the ordinary when using the terminal but when I try to update via the Update manger I get this error message:

I've tried several different mirrors but get the same error with every one. Same result with ftp as well. Yesterday I upgraded to Wheezy and every package successfully upgraded, but today the problem started again.
When the RPM runs it come up with this error. How do I install the required dependencies? I have added more repositories, but still there are a few dependencies missing. Is there a zypper/sudo -get or something available? Opensuse 11.1 Gnome
I learned that, even while on Linux, using Iceweasel/Firefox 3.0.6 is not safe. So I tried to update the browser for my PPC G4 iMac (256 MB RAM, 800 MHz processor).
1. I downloaded a backported Iceweasel .deb from URL...
2. I then tried to install it with dpkg -i PathToIceweasel.deb
3. There was an error. I remember seeing xulrunner-1.9.1 is not installed. I tried to install that with apt-get but it was not available.
4. Now when I click on web browser I get the error "Failed to execute default Web Browser: Input/Output error".
I recently installed two PC with debian lenny (kernel 2.6.26). One is called serveur-debian1 and the second one serveur-debian2. I have installed gnome, samba, mysql5, apache2, php5, and Virtualbox,bridge-tools on them. On serveur-debian2, i installed an other virtual debian lenny with apache2,mysql5,php5,nagios and centreon on it to view my network. I remember having installed a soft to access nntp on serveur-debian2 in order to test nagios.
Since a few days, i have problem to access to my servers. rom my windows 7 client, i try to ping serveur-debian1. Response is OK but not for all resquets Always from the same computer, i try to ping serveur-debian2. Response is OK but not for all again.
When i launch a ping on serveur-debian1 and serveur debian2 at the same time i have:
ping 1 to 10: serveur-debian1: response OK serveur-debian2: no response ping 11to 14: serveur-debian1: no response serveur-debian2: response OK ping 15 to 25: serveur-debian1: respone OK serveur-debian2: @ip serveur-debian1 network unreachable (there's no error, it shows me the ip of serveur-debian1)
If i switch on the debian virtual server on the serveur-debian2, and i ping it at the same time, the response is OK for all resquests. The problem is very strange. I can't have a correct connection and when i launch a request from a software which access the mysql server, the requests failed ...

how to fix it? I can't install or update any software at all!
I have been having off and on issues with my samba file shares. I am sharing a NTFS formated hard drive where the mount point is in my home directory, as well as a printer connected via USB. I am to the point where printing works (using it as an ipp print share, samba is configured for it, but I don't know if it works or not), and I can access the shared folder from Windows, but I can't access the shared folder from any Ubuntu machine. I get the error:
I keep getting this error message, I did a search and didn't find a solution to my Java browser problems gcjwebplugin error: Failed to run /etc/alternatives/../../bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window.
I have a clean install of mythbuntu 10.10 and I am trying to get a DVB-T USB stick working for the last 2 weeks. Its a MobiDTV and it seems to have the same chipset/USB ID as EzCap_DVB_T_Stick. I followed the instructions on the [URL] and eventually got the driver compiled (I had to amend some code, change "Bool" pointers to "bool" and add a FIRMWARE MAX_NAME 30 constant). I also copied the af9035 FW file to the firmware directory.

I bought the hardware with Windows 7 MCE in mind. I have no Windows 7 disk so I installed Mythbuntu on it to see if build was solid and now I don't want Windows any more.
I have done a update from Lenny to Squeeze with the update manager within Gnome. And there was a error 126 and the update broke off leaving me with a non working system. The system does start into Debian Squeeze to the command line. Users are in place and a login is possible. X does not work and there a lot of broken and defect packages. I want to repair my system. Is a restore without losing the configuration possible?
I am unable to access the File Management properties.I go System > Preferences > File Management.I get a "Bug Buddy" window (I filed a report, details below).Or, it also happens if I type: 'nautilus-file-management-properties' in the terminal.
I am unable to rip from CD to .mp3 using pretty much any tool. Dolphin / Konqueror auidiocd:// KIO slave shows the mp3 folder, but when you move the tracks you get: Could not read some_song.mp3: encoding failed WARNING: libsndfile may ignore -r and perform fseek's on the input. Compile without libsndfile if this is a problem. I'm running 11.3 (KDE 4.4.4) with K3B 2 from Packman (with the k3b 2 codec package) and K3B fails as does the KIO slave method above. Lame version is: lame-3.98.4-2.pm.4.1.x86_64 Restricted multimedia formats packages are installed from Restricted formats/11.3 - openSUSE Community Wiki Alsa works great otherwise, I have no sound issue, etc. - just can't rip anything to mp3 Seems like I'm not the only one who has had this problem, there are a few posts here on the Suse Forum, and others elsewhere, but the resolution seems to be nebulous at best. Sometimes lame 3.98 from packman works for some guys, other times not, etc. Unable to rip an audio cd into mp3's using 11.2 - opensuse.opensuse.org - ArchiveOrange
I recently installed 10.04 LTS. I am now having problems with video playback. When I watch an .avi file in media player, it will play for a few minutes and then come up with an error: pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated
When I play them in vlc and kaffine they will play briefly then the sound will cut out. KMPlayer just stops without an error message.
I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Remix on a new Asus EEE PC 1015PEM. Very pleased so far but have spent too many hours trying to fix what looks like a Licence error
Whenever i start gedit from command line, i always get this: (gedit:2685): EggSMClient-WARNING **: Failed to connect to the session manager: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported
I'm not very sure when this issue started. Anyway, the system finally boots and I haven't had any further problems, but I somehow notice the booting to be a bit slower since this error appeared and I don't like watching the red letters that say "failed" every time I switch the computer on. I googled this before posting it, and other users have had this issue, but the solutions that worked for them didn't work for me.
