Debian :: Live-build Does Not Copy Ssh_host_rsa_key / Resolve This?
Mar 30, 2011
I am currently using live-build version 2.0.12-1 with squeeze
I am building a usb-hdd with lenny.
when building, the following files from the directory "./config/chroot_local-includes/etc/ssh/" are not copied to "./chroot/etc/ssh/".
ssh_host_dsa_key ssh_host_dsa_key.pub ssh_host_rsa_key ssh_host_rsa_key.pub
But the following file are copied.
moduli ssh_config sshd_config
I'm a newbe with linux, thought it's a great OS but I'm nearly giving up. Nothing works like it should, to copy stupid files across you have to be some kind of wizz to do it. I installed fresh copy of fedora 13, created folder on the desktop and connected via usb external hd. Now, there is no way of coping files from my desktop to the USB drive as i get"error while coping to USB-Storage" The destination is read-only. Permissions - sure but there is nothing there sa tehy could not be determined.
Anyway, hoping someone can give me a light from the dark tunnel, so i don't have to go back to windows..
I need to build a rpm to copy 3 libxx.so.0 files to /usr/lib. I need to do this as I am building a custom fedora remix using FC12. I am very much new to write a pro spec file and I thought you could help me out. I wrote one as mentioned below
Lately i have been working on LFS, DIY Linux and of course Slackware. It has come to my attention that another project called Jaguar Linux which was related to Slackware has previously existed. This project seems to have vanished almost completly from WWW beside the front page cached on archive.org.
Does anybody have a copy of a reference build or know where i can find one?
this is not really a question for just ubuntu, but is there a way to build a live cd, be it a customized version of ubuntu or any other distro for that matter, that has an IP address pre-configured? Might seem like a huge waste of time but I am working on a project for work trying to build a "rescue cd" but need it set up with vnc installed and an ip address (very specific) already assigned
I've just installed Ubuntu server 10.04 and have set up vsftpd somewhat successfully. I can connect as my root user, and I only have access to my home directory. However, whenever I try to copy a file across a file I receive a 550 Permission denied error.
I've run the command ls -l /home/directory and the result returned is total 0, when I was expecting details of permissions per user. I've tried running chmod -w /home/directory but this doesn't return any result nor change the result of the above ls command.
I have tried building the minimal & desktop Centos 5 live CDs to no avail.Depending on the build environment, they either do not build at all (Centos 5, i386) or they build but kernel panic when I boot them (Fedora 12).I've tried various tweaks to the provided kickstart files but I have not had any success.It is important to note that I have written some very impressive (according to others) Fedora kickstart builds so I am at a loss why the stock Centos files fail.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?I suspect it has something to do with the livecd-tools or syslinux versions but all of the versions I have tried it with make no difference.
I did some disk operations on NTFS and FAT volumes. It worked well. When I wanted to shutdown from the right upper corner icon, I got a black screen saying: (process:272) GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0)
I am now at my 6th version of my opensuse build and I can't get it to start the graphical login.I am trying my build out on a VirtualBox using the live cd.This is what happens during installation :It will install properly. No error messages at all. I get the (graphical) options screen to select language and screen resolution settings, so far so good.I select the default (top) installation for my opensuse and hit enter.Then I will get the verbose progress and when it's finished, the verbose will ask me for my user name and password.Then I enter those correctly and the verbose will tell me to enjoy.I am then left with a blinking cursor, and don't know what to do next.
This is not what should have happened since in my build I had selected Configuration > Startup > Default runlevel > 5: Graphical loginI can find no reason for this failure since on my Windows system I have tried out several other Linux systems in the same way and never experienced this problem before.During the assembling of my packages I have payed close attention to select all packages required for a graphical login.An other problem is that although I selected the default language for my build to be Dutch, the default language during setup is still English.I hope there is someone who would be kind enough to be prepared to help me out, I am so eager to start trying out my self made OS.
I just built a 11.3 live usb stick using kde amd64 image. I can go through a full boot up, but when X start I get a blank srceen(Samsung SyncMaster PX2370) on my desktop. I really do not know where to start.
I have a several DVDs with films on them. I have a laptop and want to boot up a Linux Live CD on it, then eject the CD, insert a DVD and watch those films.
Is there any Live CD, which I can use for it? I mean that it would copy itself to RAM, so that I can remove it, insert a DVD and watch the film. All the files on DVDs are *.avi .
I'm mostly a linux-idiot but I tried to get an update for a laptop that was running xubuntu. Anyway, it won't boot and instead takes me to a screen where it says "press s to skip mounting, or press m to recover manually" or something like that. I've pressed S, and then it tells me that it can't find /tmp or something, and I have to turn it off and back on to do anything. Pressing M doesn't help much either... at least not for a mostly-linux-idiot like me. I would do a clean install, but there are a few files I absolutely have to have from the hard drive. recover the files I need from my hard drive to a usb drive while using a Live CD?
I am using windows xp and debian linux.In windows xp I am having around 25 gb offree memory but in linux if i copy anything it says enough space memory to copy
I can't seem to find this anywhere. I have burned Debian 5.06 for i386 and trying to login when running the live cd. What is the username and password to get in?
edit.... I found 'user' and 'live' but they don't work.
I have intel motherboard(d102ggc2) and 4Gb flash drive. I've created live USB using usb-creator-gtk(ubuntu 10.04) There is no option "all fixed disks" in BIOS settings (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1616610) Drive is formatted into FAT32 using GParted (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1167803)
Target I'm tying to install ubuntu 10.10 or 10.04
Problem I get "Boot error" when booting using live USB. There are only two words(please let me know if i can get any other logs). Issue is not reproducible on other env(hp625 and other desktop).
I recently tossed Ubuntu for Debian Unstable for my personal machines and I'm having trouble building Emerald into a package. I've already configured and installed the package (using the usual ./configure, make, make install) but I wanted to make a deb for future use (for myself and for others). However every time I try to run dpkg-build I get the following error message.
I'm in love with my Opensuse 11.2. Love my KDE 4.4. The only thing I miss from my Ubuntu installation, is the ability to use Boxee. I would be more than willing to compile Boxee from source. I only have 2 problems with that:
1) I don't know where I can find all the build-deps or what they are for that matter to build Boxee.
2) I'm running on a Netbook. Yes, my measly Intel Atom is no fun for compiling and building.
What are my options/what can I do to get Boxee up and running on 11.2? I've tried searching on build service for an RPM, but I think due to legal restrictions, Boxee can't be on there.
looking for LIBEVENT... configure: error: Package requirements (libevent >= 2.0.10) were not met: In order to build transmission 2.21.I need libeventnew version of transmission,I need to build libevent-dev >= 2.0.10 and installed first.But I can't get any information about building development files for libevent.
as I'm advancing in building some nice rpm I finally wanted to install on of my gems also the build was successful the actual install fails with missing dependencies.
Code:
$ rpm --root /home/sascha/rpmbuild/ -i ./RPMS/x86_64/memcached-1.4.1-2.x86_64.rpm error: Failed dependencies: libc.so.6()(64bit) is needed by memcached-1.4.1-2.x86_64 libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.2.5)(64bit) is needed by memcached-1.4.1-2.x86_64
Greetings from Greece. I tried to install opensuse 11.3 in an empty disk . Unfortunately the installation progress stops in 88% and the message error says "error copy live image to the disk". I have burn two different cd but the result is always the same.Is it a hardware problem or the cd is not correct?I had the 11.2 version in the same pc without any problem for a long time.
I followed The Perfect Server - Debian Lenny on howtoforge website. (Just changed some instructions to fit Sqeeze) * I did not install Control Panel, just software like LAMPP & Mail Servers - SMTP(SSL+AUTH) + POP(SSL) + IMAP(SSL).When I installed PHP it installed it with Suhosin Patch, but that patch was giving me a headache with some web scripts that I write for myself. So I decided to compile it for myself. Here is how I done it:
I have an init script running as a special build user which performs an automated build that fails with (Too many open files).I updated /etc/security/limits to allow the special user more open files, but that didn't work - the init script still isn't allowed more open files.Here's a demonstration of the problem;
Trying to install SW 13.1 (on DVD) on the following system: M/B Intel: DX38BT Processor Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 - 2.66GHz, 8MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB, Socket 775 Memory Corsair Dual Channel 8192MB PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz Memory (4x2048MB) Graphics Diamond Radeon HD 3850 Video Card - Viper, 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0 P/S Ultra 1000W
My goal is to install the i386 build on one partition and the 64-bit build on another. I have been away from Linux for a while and am sick to death of Win7, want to come home. :-}
Booted on i386 side of DVD, system freezes after a couple of lines that start with ATA2. Does not respond to 3 finger salute, ctrl-c, nothing. Have to press reset. I have tried both huge.s and hugesmp.s kernels
Booted on 64-bit side, comes up fine. I performed the install, selected for automatic lilo install. Lilo install hung but I was able to reboot. I booted off the 64-bit side again, entered the following: huge.s root=/dev/sde3 rdinit= ro It booted fully to the login prompt but the keyboard does not work, no input.
I run Debian Squeeze on the powerpc architecture and I'd like to install the newest Iceweasel on it. The Debain Mozilla repo only has binary packages for i386 and amd64 but provides sources.
So I did: apt-get source iceweasel
which resulted in the creation of these files/directories:
the correct way to remove custom kernels? I was trying to install a driver and only got it half way right and I want to wipe the slate clean and try again.Here's the original:Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.26-2-amd64root(hd0,4)kernel/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-amd64 root=UUID=64dcc531-f5b0-47e8-99c4-abeecfab9353 ro quietinitrd/boot/initrd.img-2.6.26-2-amd64
