Debian :: Browsing HTML Documentation That Comes With Python Packages?

Nov 16, 2010

There seems to be a lot of documentation automatically installed on my hard drive, is there a unified browser for all of the -doc packages? Is it just the man command? What about the html documentation that comes with python packages? Is there an easy way to browse these? As it stands, all I know how to do is navigate to the directory and open the html file explicitly, it just seems like there might be an easier way. I've googled around and don't know exactly what I'm looking for.

Ubuntu :: Multiple Python Packages / Config Trashed

Apr 9, 2011

This all started when my Screenlets stopped working. Then I noticed that my update notification stopped too. So, to the command line I went to do and update hoping it was a recent update that needed to be fixed.

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

It appears that multiple python packages are trashed some how? Currently doing sudo apt-get -f install I get:

HTML Code:

The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:

Fedora :: Missing Python Packages Or Dependencies With F10->F12 Upgrade Breaks Yum?

Dec 15, 2009

I just finished upgrading the last of 3 machines from F10 to F12 using preupgrade (all i686). Except for a non-critical hplip issue, all went well with the first two machines upgraded 1 week and 3 days ago, but some python F10->F12 updates were missing on the third machine that I upgraded yesterday, leaving yum inoperable. Thanks to good yum error messages, I was able to resolve the problem (I think), but I thought I should post to check if mine is a unique or common problem, to enquire if it may have resulted from some of the python packages being in "update transit" in the repositories, and/or whether something like this can be avoided in future? Details follow:

Upgrade appeared to go well except for some dejavu font dependency issues (experienced on all three machines) and libcrypto.so.7 missing for eet-1.2.2-4... (third machine). However, there was a boot message that some python module (can't remember which) was not present for some nvidia requirement, although video driver worked fine. When testing yum: First it complained that libpython2.6.so.1.0 was not present. Since that module conflicted (identified by rpm) with various python 2.5.*f10 packages that that were still on board, I copied libpython2.6.so.1.0 (from a current f12 rpm) into /usr/lib manually. Second, yum complained that urlgrabber was not available, so rpm with the latest python-urlgrabber for f12 solved that.

Third, yum complained that pycurl was not available, so rpm with the latest python-pycurl solved that. Yum now works! and boot message is gone! I ran "yum install python-libs" to make sure that any necessary dependencies were met following my manual installation of libpython2.6.so.1.0, which resulted in a bunch of python dependencies being upgraded as a result.

Debian :: Centralize Linux Offline Documentation

Oct 2, 2015

I am using Debian 8, fully updated as of this writing.

I want to find a package or some way to get all my linux offline documentation in one place, be it through the web browser or an application, in the official reppos or not does not matter. I've already tried doc-central with apache2 but I get all sorts of error messages and something about no D-bus daemon started, i dont understand, because I;ve installed d-bus service latest version after the error. when I started doc-central correctly through almost blind luck (only once) I did not get any docs just the welcome message.

Is there an alternative to doc-central, a GUI type solution would be preferable. or at least some advice to properly configure doc-central and maybe that d-bus problem, because I clearly did something wrong, I have even tried to write the configuration through an example file for doc-central, but that did not do much, I've read that DocCentral is unstable so maybe I going at it the wrong way.

Debian :: Installing I386 Packages Prompts Removal Of Amd64 Packages

Apr 8, 2015

I am working on a project which targets both 32 and 64 bit architectures at the moment. My system is amd64. I added i386 architecture using this guide. However, my problem is

Code: Select allapt-get install package-name:i386

prompts the removal of currently installed packages (amd64 arch.) which is the problem.

Code: Select allReading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  libportaudio0:i386

[Code] ...

Some of the packages I am talking about are

-libegl1-mesa-dev:i386
-libportaudio-dev:i386

Now, as of now, I want to carry out the compilation using 32 bit libraries, however, I really don't want to install 64bit version of all prerequisites each time I switch the compilation from 32 bit to 64. Is there any way to have both architectures at the same time?

Debian Configuration :: Browsing For Samba Network Printers In KDE?

Mar 12, 2011

Anyway, I go to add a printer and select "Network Printer" and click "Windows Printer via SAMBA". This is where i would typically press "Browse..." but it is unclickable. This leads me to believe that I am missing a package. Essentially my question is: What are the necessary packages to access Windows printers via SAMBA with system-config-printer?

Programming :: Client Side To Include HTML Within HTML?

Sep 12, 2009

what is the best way (i.e standard way that is supported on all browsers and probably as well followed by web crawlers).... to include an html file either locally or externally in another ? Of course , i've done the research and i also know that there are server side includes (php , asp ...you name it) at the moment , i'm using this:

Quote:

<script type="text/javascript" src="path to file/include-file.js"> </script>

however, i've been warned that this method may not show up in some browsers as some tend to ignore this tag and that crawlers like your favorite search engine wouldn't bother reading this. so , what is the best and safest way to do the job? and btw , the reason why i've ousted SSI's from the start is because of among other things:

1) the fact that the included file is static html and because the text is included pretty much everywhere

2) hoping to reduce load time as the code (if successfully recognized) would hopefully be treated like any other embedded external file (e.x like an image) , therefore it would be cached without the need to downloaded it over and over again for each new page on the site.
