I used wget -r to get all the web pages that were linked from index.html. The pages listed in index.html are all chapters. After using wget -r, all the chapters are now in the same folder on my local hard drive. Is there a way to build the chapters in their proper order into a "long"/"full" web page, rather than simply having each chapter as a link/next link on a previous page?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have apache httpd server on my Fedora 10I got 2 problems:First : I copied the web page files to its Document Root <var/www/html> & Disabled the default web page. But when I visit http:/localhost ,it shows up the list of files in <var/www/html> as if a ftp server browsed in web page. So how can I set http://localhost load my default web page index.html ?Second :I want to set up a web server on Internet through my router . I applied for DDNS account & input it into router correctly . I set virtual host in server to redirect any access from port 80 to 192.168.1.2:80 in LAN . Just for in case , I also download and running the DDNS software & installed it on PC 192.168.1.2 in LAN . My DDNS provider is oray.cn . It's a Chinese server provider . I don't think there is anything wrong with oray.cn . But if you need its information just visit oray.cn (Google can translate it for you). So I want to know did I miss something to set up a web server in this kind of situation

Everything but Amarok sound worked, i turned off my laptop and went doing my job.. The next time i started up my laptop and went on the desktop .. a tradition is to browse the web, so i did that and i couldnt load a single page, except pages with direct IPs i had Skype working just fine and i had a friend there running SuSe and asked him for help. We identified it as a DNS problem, but because of my noobness i couldnt deal with it and i HAD TO switch back to windows, wich i regret so much.
I know that im a noob, but if i have an internet running at its best i can look at forums and resolve my other issues, so im asking for a screenshots on DNS settings so i can fix it the next time i install Ubuntu.Also! I was using cable via PPPoE (and the only terminal command i know is "sudo pppoeconf" ), now im with router, connecting my laptop directly via WI-FI, will i have the same problem and will i have to make settings so i can connect to my router? Because back then i tried to connect to wireless networks and the ones i could connect on XP/Vista/7 i simply couldnt connect on Ubuntu...I really want some real PC knowledge and to use Linux

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to debug a kernel panic. It prints some long log to the console, but even if i set 1920x1440 VESA framebuffer mode, i can't see it whole.
So, i would like to direct all the kernel messages to a COM port and read them on another machine. Is there any way of doing so? What are the other (maybe better/easier/etc.) ways of catching whole kernel panic messages or scrolling the ones already displayed?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a website for a guy with an entrance page. I have written the entire site in PHP excluding the entrance page which is in HTML. The entrance page is literally just an image they drew up and I placed a link in. The problem is that the image is HUGE. I would like to know if there is any way (use JS, PHP, CSS, or whatever) to make this image either auto fit the screen/window or at least auto fit in a range of resolutions? Because if you have a small monitor then you wouldn't even see the actual graphic, just the border.

Today, the power was suddenly cut off in my house, then my home Ubuntu Server restarted after the power on, but when I use my laptop to view my wesite, the index.html suddenly became blank page, I did clear the firefox cache, doesn't work, still blank, and I changed browser, to seamonkey, the index.html still was blank, so, I am sure that the problem is coused by the server, and then, I put the index.html file to a subdirectory, which under the /var/www/home/index.html, and then I put the address < [url] > ,then,I can view my website the main page index.html.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm working with a dual-boot laptop running Ubuntu 10.0/Windows 7 and a Debian 5 VPS while the OS's shouldn't have much impact on my question.
What I would like to do is create a html page that I can upload to my VPS which lists all of the files/folders on my local 2TB hard drive (Specifically media such as Movies, Music, TV Shows...). The media obviously will not reside on the server, but I would like to at least have a list which will allow me to select, for instance, a bands artist so that it redirects me to the albums in the directory below.
Ultimately, I'm looking for Open Directory Browsing without actually having the media on my server. I have been attempting to create something to this effect using lynx, however, I'm not sure if it can be done with this command or if it's even possible for that matter.
Everyone knows that it is like impossible to use mplayer to watch an *.html file. OK.
For instance here is a cool example of lot of streaming for firefox

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have been struggling to make this happen for a bit and cannot figure it out. I want to communicate directly from my non-GUI Debian to my Puppy Linux PC. I have set up my Puppy PC for direct connection as per the instructions in the network wizard. I need to set up my Debian to do the same.
I have done the
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.0.100
netmask 255.255.255.0
in /etc/network/interfaces.
I still cannot ping the Debian machine from the Puppy one. Are there any other steps to the direct connection? (I already have the crossover cable in place)
I have also tried this with both PCs connected to a Netgear router. I CAN connect to the debian machine if it is on the router at the IP I assigned it and the Puppy PC is configured to use the router.
Is there a file I can edit or a process I can turn off? I think it's close I am just not sure what I am missing.
I have recently acquired a HP MSA 2040 san, which they say will work with Red Hat. But I'd much rather use Debian. It's attached to a Gen 9 DL360. I cannot get the OS to see the external drives. I hope it's just me mssing something.
I have told the DL360 to keep the external control in HBA mode, not RAID, not using the hosts RAID intelligence. I think I have set the MSA to offer a couple of disks as a virtual drive. I CAN see the drives in the BIOS boot menu for the DL360, though it doesn't show the virtual voilumes on the MSA, I cannot see the MSA virtual or physical drives once Debian is installed.
I have installed multipath-tools, and the SCSCi utilities.
But no luck seeing the drives.
How to change:
(1) My preferred File Management program, the one that kicks off when I use Places? and
(2) The amount of time before the display is put to sleep?
I DO NOT WANT TO USE A GUI FRONT END to do this. The reason is (1) my preferred File Manager, Xfe, is not listed as one of the options by Preferred Applications. And (2) Power Management Preferences allows 10 or 30 minutes before putting the display to sleep but I want 20 minutes. I need to know what files contain these configurations so I can edit them directly.
So I have a GoFlex NAS driver, which according the specs has a theoretical maximum performance of 100 MB [URL] .....
I connected by ehternet to my PC (GNU/Linux, Debian 8 ) to do a backup.
I mounted it with cifs:
Code: Select allmount -t cifs "//goflexhome.local/GoFlex Home Personal" /mnt/gf/per/ -o credentials=/root/gfpass,uid=1000,gid=1000
And then tried rsyncing my home folder.
Code:
Select allDIR=/home
BACKUP_FILE=/mnt/gf/per/bck2016/
FLAGS=" --archive --one-file-system --acls --xattrs --numeric-ids --fake-super --progress --human-readable --ignore-existing --log-file="backup.log" "
FLAGS+=" ${DIRS} ${BACKUP_FILE}"
rsync ${FLAGS}
I then used iptraf to check the performance and I get miserable results (from the PC), even below 1 MB:
total 74.7 kbits
in 30.4 kbits
out 48.5 kbist

what is the best way (i.e standard way that is supported on all browsers and probably as well followed by web crawlers).... to include an html file either locally or externally in another ? Of course , i've done the research and i also know that there are server side includes (php , asp ...you name it) at the moment , i'm using this:
Quote:
<script type="text/javascript" src="path to file/include-file.js"> </script>
however, i've been warned that this method may not show up in some browsers as some tend to ignore this tag and that crawlers like your favorite search engine wouldn't bother reading this. so , what is the best and safest way to do the job? and btw , the reason why i've ousted SSI's from the start is because of among other things:
1) the fact that the included file is static html and because the text is included pretty much everywhere
2) hoping to reduce load time as the code (if successfully recognized) would hopefully be treated like any other embedded external file (e.x like an image) , therefore it would be cached without the need to downloaded it over and over again for each new page on the site.
