I have installed mythbuntu 10.04. It worked well for a few days. Now my frontend does not start or crashes just after booting. You can see the frontend background for a few seconds but the menu does not load. After that, the mythtv window disappears and you can see the ubuntu desktop. Here are the last few lines from the log file:

View 14 Replies View Relatedsince I upgraded to firefox 3.6 the program doesn't start up if I have any add-ons enabled.
The program starts fine with add-ons installed, but only starts up once as soon as any off them are enabled. Even normal add-ons like xmarks and adblock give problems.
I installed CentOS 5.3 without major problems, and customized the installation to my heart's content, but I still do not have flash plugin active when I first open firefox. I have to close the first firefox window and from the second instance of firefox, the flash plugin works without any problem.
Here is my setup:

I have upgraded from Centos version 4.x to 5.5 and my installation of UGS NX 6.0 was installed under Centos 4. NX was working fine in Centos 4, but when I try starting it under Centos 5, I get the following:
ERROR: unable to start NX Check: X windows is running, :0.0 is valid, and X display has been authorized on :0.0.
The pc has 3 disks sda and sdb not partitioned (for future raid use, the first 3 disks are hot pluggable) and sdc (on sata port 4) with
sdc1 for /boot (shared)
sdc2 set to swap
sdc3 extended
sdc5 for another linux distribution

I have installed without any problem but at time to configure the bootloader the only choiches are sda or sdc1.
I have also lilo installed on the mbr so i have added in its configuration the image and the initrd of centos with root configured as /dev/sdc6.
In every case the system stat, try to find raid devices, try to resume from sdc4 (this will be another problem in the future, I need to disable this), and later hal with a kernel panic unable to find root.
I think the kernel command line parameters are not correct but seriously i am not able to find them.

I have Centos 5 installed on a PC in the local network. I have installed the RPM dhcpv6-client-1.0.10-16.el5.i386.rpm on this PC to configure it as DHCP V6 client. The RPM was installed successfully, and I have done modifications to the following files:
1. /etc/sysconfig/network, set the networking to yes.
2. /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 set the BOOTPROTO=DHCP.
Now the problem is when I start the client on this pc as dhclient, it throws the following errors, and logs out after some time. All the network configurations were lost and the PC gets disconnected from the network.

I would like open again a Thread regarding NX. Now I removed CentOS 5.2 and installed CentOS 5.4, it seems thats the better one, because here is yum working again,The problem: I cant start nxclient, but the file is installed>

I am trying to attach my server to 2 diferent networks, with fixed ip addresses,
eth0 = 192.168.0.2 255.255.255.0 with gateway 192.168.0.1. This is currently working, and I can ssh o the machine on this address
eth1 = 192.168.150.5 255.255.255.0 with gateway 192.168.150.1
When I try and start eth1 with ifconfig eth1 up, I get the error message "eth1: unknown interface: no such device"
I have configured eth1 using system-config-network-tui and /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth1 looks correct

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter overcomming a lot of difficulties, my MythTV (Via Epia 10000EG with Hauppauge PVR 500 card) worked with Mythbuntu 9.04. Last year it crashed and I had no time to spare to rebuild it.
Last couple of weeks I had more time and downloaded and tried to install Mythbuntu 10.10. Everything seems to be installed ok, but I get no picture in MythTV when I select "Watch TV" and no picture when I try to record something. When watching TV, the message "Please wait" appears for appr. 5 secs and then the system returns to the menu.
I installed Mythbuntu 10.10 and am using the provided IVTV drivers.
Dmesg and lspci give no errors, every seems to be in order, IVTV drivers are loaded, initialized and errorfree. Cat /dev/video0 gives me static in MPLAYER. The MythTV backendlog doesn't even give a message, the frontend log just says there is no picture...
There seems to be an error between the back and frontend. I checked the settings in capturecards, TV sources, channel edits, etc,etc, but I can't find it.
I know the crontab format and editing is pretty easy, but I always forget the format. So I would like to have a frontend/gui. As far as I can tell a good one doesn't exist anymore.kcron - what I used to use, no longer exists (and I switched to ubuntu from kubuntu)gnome-schedule - does not show all users, does not allow for fine control that kcron had.Does anyone know a good gui/frontend for crontab? I guess I'm just going to have to get in the habit of researching the file syntax, how to edit it, and editing manually.

There are so many GUI's available yet I have not seen any in which our cursor hovers over slide to see time at that position. Like .....'s flash player allows you to go at any desired time in video.I think if the skin knows the length of video then it can divide length of slide timewise .

I want to split my home network into two parts and define different firewall rules for these parts. I also want to use dhcp to make sure every time a computer logs in it gets the same ip but is still able to log in somewhere else. The biggest problem now is that I have to make some functions able to someone that has never worked with linux before.
I've worked with software routers like pfsense before and I would like a similar web frontend to this. Does anyone know if there is such a piece of software? I'm not using pfsense itself because I don't want to virtualize it and I need some things like the software raid5 and some htpc software I don't want to try to get working on pfsense. I've previously used webmin untill it was hacked because of an exploit in it so I preferably don't want to use that one. I've been working with the dd-wrt software and something like this would do the trick perfectly!
Are there any decent AV softwares for linux,with a Graphical frontend?
