since I upgraded to firefox 3.6 the program doesn't start up if I have any add-ons enabled.
The program starts fine with add-ons installed, but only starts up once as soon as any off them are enabled. Even normal add-ons like xmarks and adblock give problems.
after installation update centos / I tried to open the OX EE/ I am not able to start the web-frontend in Firefox. The message "You need to enable JavaScript to access the Open-Xchange Server."
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed CentOS 5.3 without major problems, and customized the installation to my heart's content, but I still do not have flash plugin active when I first open firefox. I have to close the first firefox window and from the second instance of firefox, the flash plugin works without any problem.
Here is my setup:

I try to set up a 5 nodes cluster and a shared Coraid Storage with conga but it fails with "Shared Storage Support" checked.The message is:'A problem occurred when installing packages: Packages of set "Clustered Storage" are not present in available repository' and it is shown under every node on the next sceen after I submit.The pc where conga runs is on the same subnet (192.168.xxx.xxx) and it has the same /etc/hosts of the other nodes.In that pc runs a proxy too and the nodes go out through it (that pc has 2 NICs)Every node (2.6.18-128.1.14.el5-xen-x86_64) is patched whith the last yum update (this morning) the same is for the pc (2.6.18-128.1.14.el5).Every node has 4 NICs , 2 NICc towards the storage the others in bonding towards the WAN.Every node is exactly alike, they have been installed with the ks.cfg generated from the first node and they all have the support for Clustering, Virtualization, and Clustered Storage.

And I did ln -s /usr/lib/../libjavaplugin_oji.so to my firefox plugins directory but I still have no java.There is also no java enable in the preferences/advanced in firefox. I also did about: config and switched to libjavaplugin_oji.so.Still no dice.I noticed that mozilla works, I launched PDM successfuly, but I want to use firefox. As for the java version, it's the only version Cisco's PIX PDM works.That's why i have this version of java.
How can I start dhcpd after Network manager has set up a new connected device. The reason being that dhcpd will not start when there is nothing connected to the network interface. Therefore I would like dhcpd to start after a new device is connected. Now I have found references if ifup-post but this does not relate to NM, is this correct?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue changing the flash plug to display flash. I clean installed 10.04 a week ago, upgraded to to the closed source adobe plugin, and everything was great. However, a day ago, I had an issue with one site, and I decided to switch back to the default swfdec player. Since that time I have not been able to switch back to adobe. Every time I attempt to, firefox complains that adobe is already installed. Even if I remove the adobe flash plugin via synaptic and allow firefox to reinstall it, it still uses swfdec.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a centos server (5.3). I installed WebMin to assist with some of the administration details. In any event, I got it installed but I cannot access it (it requires a secure connection).
I checked out the server and it does not respond to a HTTPS:// request. When I telnet into port 80, it responds but it does not respond on port 443. MOD_SSL is installed and there is an ssl.conf (unmodified).
I've got a little server setup on my local network and I'm trying to configure it to use miredo. I've got my laptop successfully using it, but for some reason miredo gives this error when I try to start it:

I get the impression that ipv6 is not enabled on my server, but I'm not sure how I enable it short of doing a reinstall.
The nagios admin interface apparently needs php (although, of course, the howto mentions nothing of the sort). So then, I copied the php.conf that had at some time been installed on the system, and then moved by me out of /etc/httpd/conf.d, back into conf.d. It's a fairly simple one:

I'm trying to compile mplayer from srpm with vdpau enabled.
By default its disabled ( at least in rpmforge's srpm). How can i do this ?
This is what i tried:
We are running CentOS 5.3 on a Logic Supply PT109, a ruggedized PC. For some reason the serial ports don't work when the IRQ is configured (i.e. setting IRQ to 0 makes it work, but performance suffers with the polling).
I've used minicom, picocom, and plain old cat and echo talk to the port both with a loopback connector and to another PC. statserial shows the control lines changing as I change the various settings and connect the loopback connector. I am confident that the hardware is fine as DOS diagnostics show the COMx ports working with various baud rates. I have tried changing the IRQ from the default of 11 to 3 and 4, turning flow control on/off, and tried another PT109.
strace shows data being written, but none being received, so my theories are either the interrupts aren't being generated (doubtful since the ports tested okay with DOS) or the serial driver isn't handling the interrupt. The serial handler shows up in /proc/interrupts when the port is opened. The interrupt counts do go up slowly, but not in response to activity that I can correlate:

I have installed CentOS and Redhat5 on a LVM partition and selinux is enabled. Both OS's share the same /home partition with one user with the same login(gc) and same uid (1000). The problem I am having is that gc can login with all permissions etc on the OS that was installed first (CentOS). For the redhat OS gc can login but cannot write to the home directory (or startx since X needs to write to Xauthority)Here are outputs - 1st CentOS

I have a Biostar TA785GE which as I understand it, has a Realtek 8111DL on-board.
Booting with the default label from the 64-bit installation DVD crashes before any user input, with indecipherable text on-screen (text mode, not X11). Symptoms were the same with the Fedora 11 32-bit installation DVD and the Fedora 12 Live 32-bit CD. Booting with "linux text" mode shows a kernel panic in ":r8169:rtl8169_init_one+0x369/0x9d4" from "pci_device_probe+0x100/0x180".
Disabling the on-board NIC allowed the boot to proceed, and get as far as detecting the hard drive partitions (where I stopped it since Ubuntu is installed).
Ubuntu 9.04 Workstation(Desktop?) install DVD worked fine, and I've installed it and am using it to enter this. From Ubuntu 9.04 on this hardware:

The volumes are quite large (20TB). I'm currently in the process of using parted's rescue feature but so far that has been unsuccessful.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm configuring a new Centos 5.5 server in replacement of an old W2K server.The topology of our network is simple : one file/dhcp/dns relay server and workstations (PC's and some MAC's) plus network printers and scanners.All the workstations have dynamic IP addresses (easier because a lot of 'dynamic' changes : new persons with their own laptop, ...) and the server and printers/scanners have fixed IP addresses.I edited the dhcpd.conf (see here underneath), I have the file dhcpd.leases but it doesn't start !

we are using firefox-3.0.15 from the CentOS-Repository and the adobereader plugin from the adobe-repository. We have a curious problem with adobereader-plugin in firefox.When a pdf document is displayed via the plugin, i.e. within a tab in firefox, all input fields are disabled. I cannot enter a search string or fill in fields. The cursor and page up/down keys are also disabled. But when I configure firefox to open pdf documents with the external acroreader, everything works fine.
Additional notes:* We are just migrating from SuSE. Some user profiles are working as expected without problems. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out the important files: I traced all of firefox' file operations on the user profiles, but there are no significant differences between working and non-working profiles (I just compared filenames, not content).* the same adobe-plugin works with firefox 3.0.15 from mozilla.org* I also set up a clean i386-Centos 5.4 from original CD, SELinux disabled, updated and created standard user. I only added the adobe-repository. The same effect, no search avaible.
i am currently trying to install vsFTP onto my new linux server and btw i just started using linux today this is my first time using linux so i got the ftp installed good it got downloaded and everything then i went to open a port for my server for vsFTP i used this comand to open it "-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT" then i closed it by pressing ESC then :wq! and it brought me back to my comand line again so now when i try to start the ip table thing with the comand "service iptables start" then when i execute that comand putty respondes with this "Applying iptables firewall rules: iptables-restore: line 1 failed [FAILED]"

I'm relatively new to Linux and am currently working with my first installation from scratch . Fedora 14 was the latest available at the time I started my project.
Over the last couple of days I've been running across a couple of different issues. The last change I made before seeing these issue was to install samba. I can't say for sure that this is the cause of these issues.
Just to be clear, I did have Firefox working until last week.
Problem: Starting Firefox does not open a browser window.

I'm try to start Firefox by clicking on the icon in the upper panel. This action displays a small black circle showing progress and a tab with 'Starting Firefox' on the lower panel. After a few seconds they disappear and nothing happens; no browser and no error messages either.
I looked in a few different places, which I thought were appropriate /var/log/messages, dmesg but I found these provide information about hardware.
Also tried invoking Firefox from the command line but it seems that this mode is not recommended in Fedora and throws out errors in both user and root mode. Doc with errors attached.
Listing 1 shows the error when calling firefox as user.
Listing 2 shows the error when calling firefox as root.
Listing 3 shows all the processes running in the system. (including in case it's useful).
I have tried reinstalling firefox, and removing and installing firefox using yum (yum lists reinstall as a separate option) but neither method resolves the issue.
After upgrade opensuse from 11.2 to 11.3 a cannot use firefox. I start firefox form shell and nothing. When I use strace then firefox stop on "waitpid(-1, ". Firefox work well only when i login as a root. I removed java sun plugin and started firefox in save-mode and check to disable all extensions etc and nothing to do.

I restarted it, updated it, reinstalled it, but it still wont work. I do not know whats wrong with this, I am running in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, everything was working fine and now all of the sudden it stopped running.
I just installed firefox and flash-plugin.The version of firefox is 3.0.10, package is firefox-3.0.10-1.el5.centos.The version of flash-plugin is 10.0.22.87, package is flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-1.el5.rf.But firefox crashes when there is flash in web page, unless disable flash plugin in firefox.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using CentOS 5 with a couple extra repos; KDE, RPMforge, adobe and a repo provided by Mike A. Harris which has very new Firefox(3.6.3) and other packages. Understandably I am using an, at press time, unsupported version of Firefox. (I use updated packages at Adobe, KDE, and of Firefox for bleeding edge media support and website testing)
Most sites are working fine, including all sites that I have tried at the www.centos.org domain. Wikipedia, Pandora, AOL Mail, Dell, Facebook, Hulu, Google, Linksys, all of the other sites I have built and many more seem to work fine. When directing Firefox to anything on the CentOS wiki X seems to crash (the screen goes blank for a second, it flashes a Console login such as found at ctrl+alt+F1 and the gives me the X login screen) running services are un-interrupted, but all GUI programs close (Firefox and OpenOffice do recover data). I was running yum from a console and it was not interrupted.
Has anyone else had this issue with a newer version of Firefox? Again it is only seeming to affect the CentOS wiki. Not a worry since I only use the wiki for reference configuring my machine, and Konqueror browses it just fine. Anything I should do to help developers and other users? Bug reports? Ideas on how to fix it?

I go to terminal and type "firefox -safe-mode" (because i was using ubuntu this command worked when this exact problem occurred) but here i get "Could not find compatible GRE between version 1.9.1.4 and 1.9.1.4"
also i would like to ask, how do i update my fedora from terminal, something similar to "sudo apt-get update" on ubuntu..but yum instead,.
