I tried to installed Centos5.4 version on Dell PC intel corei3 inspiron580s and succeeded but found some issues following below
1 Hardware issue for LAN driver ( Broadcomlink(TM)gigabit ethernet)
2 Display Driver not support and also missing Xorg.config file (i.e ., My Screen Starts from center of screen )
3. What is minimum configuration for centos 5.4 ?
When i put the command: /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup for install it it say this:

(Look at /var/log/vbox-install.log to find out what went wrong)

I have Nvidia geforce gtx 260 Maxcore and have installed the Nvidia drivers but can't get xscreensaver to work. xscreensaver-demo comes up but when one of the programs try to start I get the error above in the subject line. I have been trying to figure this one out for hours with no luck.If I run glxgears by itself it runs fine, it's only when I try to run anything in the root window from xscreensaver

We have a RHEL 5.1 system that is moving to new hardware, however the kernel at this release doesn't support the new hardware, due to the Qlogic card change. I tired the Redhat KB and Bugzilla. Is there a Kernel change list etc I can search. Never really played around with the kernel too much so I'm just after some pointers for looking up this information. Offically its not supported until Redhat 5.3, I'm trying trying to research kernel info so I can tell the customer they have to upgrade.

After installing the drivers for the visual effects I restarted the computer, and now after the all black screen with the little white Ubuntu symbol in the middle the screen goes blank, lots of horizontal lines appear and it contrasts out to a completely blank, white, useless screen. Any suggestions? EDIT: laptop is a Toshiba 5105, bumped up to 1.2gb of RAM
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've enjoyed accelerated 3d graphics for years with this laptop, but since moving from CentOS 5.3 to FC12 I have had no 3d or opengl working at all.My install seems good. I'm running right now with the 'nvidia' driver in 1920x1200 res with no real problems except the lack of 3d. I have just finished trawling the forums again, coming back to: F12,F11 & F10 Nvidia driver guides [URL] I uninstalled all my nvidia packages, re-installed only "kmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686" and dependencies, ensured 'nvidia' was my selected driver in xorg.conf (using nvidia-config-display disable, then enable), and rebooted, and still no joy. No errors in Xorg.0.log. My 'glx' extension is loaded. 'nouveau' is rdblacklisted. SELinux is disabled. I have 3Gb RAM and so have chosen not to use the PAE kernel or modules.

When I start it up the screen flickers from being on and off, it then finally stops at being on but nothing shows up. Please help. My graphics card is nVidia G210M. Sony Vaio.

I'm on a Sager NP3790 with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics card. I've got a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10 and the basic 2d functions all seem fine, but any games I try to run with OpenGL simplt fail and "glxinfo" yields:

I have downloaded the latest legacy driver from ATI (ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run) and I've not had any success running that directly. It appears to not knowingly support anything newer than Ubuntu 9.04. I have tried forcing that driver to build itself targeting 9.04 and I've tried installing the .deb packages that it produces, but with no luck there either.
If I recall this laptop's former lives, it has in the past run Eternal Lands without issue back when it was Ubuntu 8.x, but somewhere between a client update from them, some update from ATI or Ubuntu I seem to have lost my OpenGL capabilities.
I have a new system I built this week. I have the nvidia drivers installed, but desktop effects, googleearth and Quake4 all try to load the /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 from mesa-libGL and fail to start.I have two other machines, both with nvidia video, and don't have the problem with them. I've looked for differences on the systems, but haven't located anything so far.

I have new hardware and I'm doing a dual boot, hoping that Ubuntu will be my primary OS, but I'm having trouble ringing it out. I installed Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 and in the past with an old machine I could turn on visual effects. With this machine, when I try to, it says it's looking for a driver, blinks a bit and then comes back with a message saying "Desktop visual effects cannot be enabled."
I assume that I don't have the nVidia driver loaded. When I go to Hardware Drivers, it says "No proprietary drivers are in use on this system." In synaptic, the latest driver does not show up. I followed the instructions on this site that someone put up which required adding some lines to the "Blacklist" then purging old drivers. It said to expect an error and what to do then, but I never got the error. When I tried to do the rest of the commands anyway, nothing seemed to happen. One of the steps was to download the latest driver, which I did. It was a .run file...........

I've been using 11.04 for a few weeks now on my laptop. All of a sudden this morning, when I boot, it tells me that my laptop doesn't have enough resources to run Unity, although I've been using it the whole time. It's dropped me back to the old interface. Does anyone know why it did this?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed Fedora 14 (x86_64) on my Alienware m15x laptop which has a NVIDIA GTX 260m onboard. Now I have followed leigh123linux's guide to installing those drivers on F14. The installation is a success and everything seems to be in working order, until the system randomly logs the user out and/or restarts the session with no warning. The screen goes black and the nvidia logo appears and then its back to the login screen again. This can happen many times with no apparent stop insight. This does not happen with the default F14 drivers that come with the installation, I have tried several re installations of the Fedora OS and several re installations of the NVIDIA driver, i still have the same problems.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI try to set up a 5 nodes cluster and a shared Coraid Storage with conga but it fails with "Shared Storage Support" checked.The message is:'A problem occurred when installing packages: Packages of set "Clustered Storage" are not present in available repository' and it is shown under every node on the next sceen after I submit.The pc where conga runs is on the same subnet (192.168.xxx.xxx) and it has the same /etc/hosts of the other nodes.In that pc runs a proxy too and the nodes go out through it (that pc has 2 NICs)Every node (2.6.18-128.1.14.el5-xen-x86_64) is patched whith the last yum update (this morning) the same is for the pc (2.6.18-128.1.14.el5).Every node has 4 NICs , 2 NICc towards the storage the others in bonding towards the WAN.Every node is exactly alike, they have been installed with the ks.cfg generated from the first node and they all have the support for Clustering, Virtualization, and Clustered Storage.

But when I create a user via LDAP, the system doesn't seem to want to know.LDAP actually creates a home directory for the new user, but the system merely assigns it a UID and nothing else.I have access to another opensuse system which does not behave in this way. I.e. I can set up a user exclusively in LDAP and the system will recognise the new user no problem.I have compared the two ldap configurations to see if there's some magic "propagate LDAP users to Local users" setting, but this doesn't appear to exist

I get an Untrusted Connection error when I visit this site to login into my GRE account, and I cannot add it as an exception, in Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Ubuntu 11.04. When I visit the site using Chrome, I have no issues. Is this a bug in Firefox's certificate management? I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. I do not get this error in Windows' Firefox 4.0.
