I want to install a lineage 2 server on a vps... I have bought it and I have receiver connection details with ssh -.- . It's possible to install graphics interface from bash line because I don't know to set up a l2 server from bash line...
i am using windows 7 in my laptop and linux is installed on virtualBox but my problem is the screen is showing small in virtualbox is there any way to enalarge the screen to show like windows screen? i did before by using VGA setting but it made problem me i was not able to use GUI interface i meant graphics interface it was just showing me Command Prompt.
After installing the ATI graphics driver that was suggested under System > Devices, ubuntu required a reboot. now it either hangs on boot, or boots into the Bash shell. I tried the option in the Grub boot llist to boot into recovery mode, and then teh option to fix recent update (or something like that), but it did not help. Assuming the ATI driver is the problem, how can I back it out?
I have installed/enabled centosplus, by using the command: yum update kernel --enablerepo-centosplus
Now I seem to be unable to install nvidia-graphics. When I use the command: yum install nvidia-graphics, I get the error: package kernel-2.6.18-164.6.1.el5.centos.plus.i686 (which is newer than kernel-2.6.18-164.6.1.el5.i686) is already installed
The nvidia-graphics bit is coming from atrpms - the kernel is coming from updates. What exactly does this mean? Does it mean that nvidia-graphics has not been built for this version of the kernel (centos-plus)? I am hoping to use centos-plus, as I need the support for DVB cards.
I have just had to install CentOS 5.6 on a family members computer, as they lost there Windows XP key. Anyway, I am needing to install a new nvidia graphics driver. I found a howto on this forum for 5.2 [URL]
I had tried to install Centos 5.3 using the graphical interface but it gives me a black screen with no response. I've read into it and installed in text mode but still need a graphical interface. Whats the command/steps I need to take?
I'm trying to write a small script and there's one part of it that makes me sick:
Code:
ifconfig eth$num down sleep 6 ifconfig eth$num hw ether $mac ifconfig eth$num up
The problem is that the ethX interface doesn't go down immediately after the first line is executed. So sometimes the change of MAC is called while ethX is up, no matter how big is the sleep time, which results in an error. Is there a way to make this work right?
I have a set of bash scripts which I need to execute through a web-interface. So that they can be executed remotely, once the web-interface is hosted on a server. Since this is the first time I am trying something like this, I am not sure what language or technology to use for such work. From my knowledge PHP could be a good fit. But not really sure.
ok I am using a customized CentOS distro that is looking for 3 network cards on boot. eth0, eth1, eth2. I do not need eth0 and need to bridge it to eth1.
i install kernel rpm after i boot that kernel network not working kernel name : kernel-rt-trace-2.6.24.7-132.el5.centos.i686 [URL] error "Bringing up interface eth0: Device eth0 has different MAC address than expected, ignoring."
I had recently installed centos 5.5 on Distro. But I am not getting how to see interface. I tried ifconfig and ipconfig both are not working. So please let me know what is command to see interface.
I am facing problem on executing commands like df -h,ls-l,grep etc in /bin.
it is showing below errors:-- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- login as: root root@220.226.102.217's password: Last login: Sat Jun 4 11:14:20 2011 from 220.227.54.149 -bash: /bin/egrep: cannot execute binary file
I've installed (well, I founded it installed yet in my new job...) Centos 5.3 (Final) version (kernel 2.6.18-164.el5 on an x86_64), but I only can work fron the command line. I don't know if I can use any graphical interface (I've worked with SuSe years ago and it start its graphical interface automaticaly when you reboot the system).
I have to configure sendmail. For it, I download and installed webmin and usermin and start them, but I don't know how to continue...
i'v installed centos 5.4 on vmware, but their is no graphic interface so i try: yum groupinstall "Gnome Desktop Environement" "X window System" but it says no packages in any requested group available to install or update the commande: yum grouplist gives me Trixboxcore actually avery time i try to do a yum install <package> it returns no package <available>
I have my centos server behind a Linksys router. I'd like to access the router's web interface to open and close certain ports. How do I access the router's interface ?
Prior to this, I had a windows machine. I could type in the router's IP in 192.168.1.1 in the browser and get access to the interface.
At my work, we have several clients (outside clients) that have an FTP login to our FTP Server. Their login then leads them to their home FTP folder. The FTP server is currently a Win2003 box. Because we have so many clients, we would like to implement some form of WebGui that would allow each client to manage their own FTP home folder and user info, such as resetting their password if they lost it.
Is there anything like this available in linux that would provide us with that kind of control/usability?
I have tryed for hours trying to get this right but failed.I configure the dhcp file and when accepting the changes i get the error NOT CONFIGURED TO LISTEN ON ANY INTERFACE.
My file looks like this
Heres my current settings
I am getting an error: NOT CONFIGURED TO LISTEN ON ANY INTERFACE
I have a webserver with 3 virtual interfaces named eth0:1 eth0:3 and eth0:3. Until yesterday all the virtual ip's worked but eth0:1 decided that it just won't work anymore since yesterday. The configs are:
I took the hard drive from my server and put it into another machine to install centos with, as the server does not have a working CD drive. So now the situation is that x refuses to start when centos boots. I get a message saying: Failed to start the X server (your graphical interface). It is likely that it is not set up correctly. Would you like to view the X server output to diagnose the problem?
So everything coming from the IAX-provider on port 4569 is forwarded to the Asterisk-server's WAN-interface (eth1). This needs then be routed to an internal SIP-phone (an IVR-system will define which one) via eth0.
When a call is initiated from an internal SIP-phone (they register to the IP-address assigned to eth0) it needs to be routed via eth1 to the gateway (192.168.4.250). Asterisk will setup an IAX-channel on WAN-interface (eth1) to the IAX-provider (via gateway).
So... will this work :
route add -net ip_IAXprovider netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.4.250 dev eth1
is there any graphical interface for installing programs in linux. Like installers in windows? or it is possible only through terminal?is there experience notes how to install things in linux? after i download something i am completely lost what to do next and how to check if this version is sutable for my version of linux etc. Trying to search internet gives nothing. Also I have this problem that my resolution is too high. so fonts are to small i cannot spend time in linux because my eyes start hurting. I use GNOMEThere are resolutions like 1280 x 960 next is 1440 x 900 1440x900 is sutable for my form of monitor. But 1280 960 is for more square like monitore so if i choose this resolution it looks bad. if i choose 1440 its too little. As it is max resolution for my monitor. In windows i use resolution 1280 x 768 how can i setup that in linux. Also in driver or something it says Ati 3600 series. But i have Ati radeon HD 3730 when i try to choose different versions of ... it says cannot start x server.
Looking at my logs note that the eth1 interface falls and rises many times.

I am some LinuxUNIX history but still consider my self a newbie.I know Microsoft OS well and am more comfortable with that but willing to learn Linux as well.I have a CentOS 5.5 Server I am using to Host over 18 other sites with a PERL / Web based application. The application and hosting are still working but since the CentOS updates I ran this morning my Session (I think that is the correct word) will only load a black desktop with the top menu bar only having the terminal icon and the bottom having a desktop icon; whereas prior to this update the default CentOS blue backdrop with white flower pattern and Applications, Places, System with the terminal icon and other icons displayed and the clock was off to the right.I think this is the Gnome GUI?
Also On Friday 6-24-11 I added a device line to the /etc/fstab so that my CD/DVD device would load up at boat time. I would not think this to be causing the problem. Please advise me on how to get back my regular GUI interface for this Desktop.
