I'm trying to get php-fpm running to use with nginx. I usually just use spawn-fcgi, but I would like to try php-fpm this time. I was hoping that it would be as easy as yum install php-fpm, but alas, that is not so. how to get php-fpm working on CentOS?

I was messing around with MySQL, trying to get MySQLi to install, and then, not sure how I did it, uninstalled MySQL completely. For some reason, I can't reinstall it either. It just says, no packages available.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI understand that you can "rpm -i <packagename>" to install an rpm file downloaded from the internet, but is that the best way to install an rpm package? Is it possible to use yum to install an rpm file downloaded from the internet, if so, is that a better method?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Centos 5.5 on one of my systems today and something is eluding me. Basically I had a web site and forum software (phpBB, but I don't think it's that, other forum software like Xoops does the same thing) running on Fedora 13, and I copied it over to the new Centos installation. Apache is running fine and displays a PHP test file and .html files just fine.
MySQL seems to be fine, I can log into that, show databases etc. Just can't get any forum software to know there is MySQL there. I did change the path of the site, and the databases, and edited /etc/my.cnf and /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf to reflect that. Thought I made the needed changes in /etc/php.ini but who knows. Seemed like everything should have tar'd up and moved easy, but not the case...
I'm trying to install Pure-FTPd. I'm going to use it via the internal file-based userlist. The problem is, when I yum install pure-ftpd from rpmforge or CentOS.Karan.Org, I also get mysql, perl-DBI and postgresql-libs as dependencies.Since I'm not intrested in DB-based authentication, I'd strongly prefer to skip these packages. Why are these listed as dependencies, since AFAIK, they are not really dependencies? Can I force yum to skip them somehow?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just configured a complete Cent OS 5.2 system for use as a web server. I can configure Apache and PHP but MySQl seems to be causing some issues -

This is my first post, I hope I'm the the right place. I installed mysql mysql-server php-mysql perl-DBD-mysql libdbi-dbd-mysql via "yum install -y" on a server running CentOS 5.3 X86_64 The install completes successful with no errors, but once I start mysqld via "chkconfig --level 35 mysqld on" ; "service mysqld start" There are no errors in /var/log/mysqld.log netstat shows mysqld listening on 3306 and localhost is in /etc/hosts

View 2 Replies View RelatedI think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I am using CentOS5 and installed the MySQL for server during the installation. I can set up and use MySQL databases. But I cannot make it startup everytime the server restarts. And quite a lot of methods need this folder "support-files/mysql.server", while my set up cannot find this. I am wondering if my installation of the MySQL for server is complete or not.

It works just as I want it to. How can I get nginx to treat the slashless url decently?
way to get nginx to perform DNS lookups at regular intervals against hostnames that are defined for upstream servers? It seems nginx only performs a DNS lookup once, the first time it starts, and subsequently does not perform any other DNS lookups. This causes problems when the ip addresses of our upstream servers change.
I posted this same question in the nginx forum; however I also posted it here as it seems that not many of the posts there get answered.

I have been looking for a while now, but I keep getting 403's for maps but not for files... So if you go to http://gmod.ws/ you get the error but if you go to http://gmod.ws/index.php you don't.I don't see where the problem is.We're running a CentOS 5.5 box.

I have this code in PHP that is hosted on an nginx server.
Code:
I can download the files but the problem is I think nginx is treating it as a text file and changes all "0x0A" to "0x0D 0x0A"
Unfortunately the files are not text files but executable files which makes the downloaded file corrupted.
Do I need to add a specific header to prevent this from happening?
I have installed Nginx with PHP-FPM on Debian 8 to learn more about Linux permissions. Nginx is run as www-data user.
I have created a simple PHP script that outputs the date. I have set the permission as 000 (no permission at all) and it is root:root. How come I can still run this script in the browser without getting access denied? The script is inside a folder with world execution. When removing the world execution permission, the script can't be run. How does this all connect to each other?
