CentOS 5 :: Wiki.centos.org Crashes X With Firefox?

I am using CentOS 5 with a couple extra repos; KDE, RPMforge, adobe and a repo provided by Mike A. Harris which has very new Firefox(3.6.3) and other packages. Understandably I am using an, at press time, unsupported version of Firefox. (I use updated packages at Adobe, KDE, and of Firefox for bleeding edge media support and website testing)
Most sites are working fine, including all sites that I have tried at the www.centos.org domain. Wikipedia, Pandora, AOL Mail, Dell, Facebook, Hulu, Google, Linksys, all of the other sites I have built and many more seem to work fine. When directing Firefox to anything on the CentOS wiki X seems to crash (the screen goes blank for a second, it flashes a Console login such as found at ctrl+alt+F1 and the gives me the X login screen) running services are un-interrupted, but all GUI programs close (Firefox and OpenOffice do recover data). I was running yum from a console and it was not interrupted.
Has anyone else had this issue with a newer version of Firefox? Again it is only seeming to affect the CentOS wiki. Not a worry since I only use the wiki for reference configuring my machine, and Konqueror browses it just fine. Anything I should do to help developers and other users? Bug reports? Ideas on how to fix it?
I am away for two weeks in a Internet free zone - unless I can get it back on - I would like to download the wiki, if possible to browse and try new things. I can update my comp, but will need to take it to a friends to connect.
I just installed firefox and flash-plugin.The version of firefox is 3.0.10, package is firefox-3.0.10-1.el5.centos.The version of flash-plugin is 10.0.22.87, package is flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-1.el5.rf.But firefox crashes when there is flash in web page, unless disable flash plugin in firefox.
I was reading over and checking the How to section on the Wiki for Postfix TLS / SASL. I followed it completely and everything seems to be working fine however I am confused about the following section:

Today, I try to update firefox by Package Updater but show error by bellow. "Missing Dependency: xulrunner >= 1.9.0.19-1 is needed by package firefox-3.0.19-1.el5.centos.x86_64 (CentOS5updates)"
Attempting to install CentOS 5.5 on my desktop box crashes spectacularly. (See [URL]The LiveCD does boot and appears to work, but also fills the screen with random, blinking characters early in the boot process.I was hoping I built a fairly ordinary box, so I'm surprised by this crash. we are using firefox-3.0.15 from the CentOS-Repository and the adobereader plugin from the adobe-repository. We have a curious problem with adobereader-plugin in firefox.When a pdf document is displayed via the plugin, i.e. within a tab in firefox, all input fields are disabled. I cannot enter a search string or fill in fields. The cursor and page up/down keys are also disabled. But when I configure firefox to open pdf documents with the external acroreader, everything works fine.
Additional notes:* We are just migrating from SuSE. Some user profiles are working as expected without problems. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out the important files: I traced all of firefox' file operations on the user profiles, but there are no significant differences between working and non-working profiles (I just compared filenames, not content).* the same adobe-plugin works with firefox 3.0.15 from mozilla.org* I also set up a clean i386-Centos 5.4 from original CD, SELinux disabled, updated and created standard user. I only added the adobe-repository. The same effect, no search avaible.
In spite of the fresh new CentOS 6 installs burning a whole in our drives, some of you may be wanting to play withFF5 or TB5 on your CentOS 5.6 boxen, it's easy:1. Download the mozilla Thunderbird EN download link and mozilla Firefox EN download link somewhere like /opt, extract them and move them to firefox5 and thunderbird5 directories.2. When run from the CLI I get an error message saying something about DVD regions. Never seen that before. MPlayer plays DVDs okay, Totem can't play DVDs but no biggie. how I can get VLC to play DVDs without crashing.
I try to install CentOS 5.5 on my new P.C. "HP Compaq 8200 Elite Convertible Minitower", but the installation crashes on the message "PCI: if a device doesn't work, try 'pci=routeirq'. If it helps, post a report". I tried to install using the kernel option "linux pci=routeirq" but the problem is the same. After several site:centos.org searches on Google and not finding anything remotely related to this question, I ask, how do I update Firefox 3.0 to Firefox 3.5 without losing any of my settings, history, bookmarks ,etc.?
"Exaile" just crashes when you try to play and m4a song. Does anyone what what the m4a plugin is called and where I can find it? RPM would be nice too.
I'm having similar problem to someone else here in the forum (see [URL], but only with the 64 bit version of CentOS 5.5. Almost every time I try to install it, it will crash at some point in the "interactive" startup phase (but it is random). One time, I actually reached the install desktop. I did not attempt an install. I shut the machine down and the system crashed. I haven't been able to get to the install desktop since then.
I have successfully installed CentOS 5.5 32bit, however, on this same machine. In fact, I am writing this from a VM running under CentOS 5.5 32bit on this machine, and do all my work on this machine. I have since upgraded to the latest 2.6.18 kernel with PAE and latest VirtualBox; I have not experienced ANY instability at all with this machine so far. Occasionally, VirtualBox gets an error booting the client, but it has been rare and I've seen this even on older VirtualBox versions on a previous mainboard, so I am not particularly suspicious of that. It is a brand new system, only about a month old. All new parts, except for mostly unused hard drives and drive bays.
I've recently been trying to put Centos on a PC which I have had Windows 2000 server on up until now. The system has an Intel SCSI RAID Controller which seems to be successfully detected before the graphical stage is reached. The system is fairly old now and consists of a p3 processor and 320mb of ram. However when the installer reaches the point of launching Anaconda in graphical mode it seems to start to load but then the system immediately boots itself down Quoting an Abnormal Setup Termination however gives no more details than that. I have tried changing the graphics card to no effect. I am not sure if anyone knows what could be causing the problem the media also shuld be ok as I have used it successfully on other systems.
Ive been searching half the internet for a solution for a strange problem im having with a server (CentOS 5.2 Final). For no apparent reason, the server will just be powered off.I've looked in the dmesg log and /var/log/messages file, but that doesnt show anything, except the "syslogd 1.4.1: restart." message after booting it up again, and hours in advance of the crash a "suhosin" alert message.
I've recently upgraded my OS to Centos [from RedHat]. I'm trying to bring up a 3rd party linux software package & it's crashing on errors that it can't locate gcc. I have a dir /usr/libexec/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/4.1.1
1) ssh to a remote centos server using X11 forwarding 2) open the virt-manager remote application (the virtualization management app) 3) Open the remote console

Hardware:2x Intel Xeon E5520 @ 2.26 Intel Server Board S5520UR LSI 8888ELP raid controller Anyone gotten CentOS 5 to install on this hardware? The installer boots and partitions the drive, but either crashes during formatting of the partitions or during package installation with a kernel panic.
Recently updated 5.3 to 5.4. The easiest upgrade yet thru yum! (Ubuntu9.04 to 9.10 failed.) Have latest yum updates including kernel(2.6.18-164.6.1.el5). Trying 2 other 2.6.18-164* choices makes no difference. When insert cd in either drive and click on Apps.>Sound&Video>Cd player get crash. Even get bug-buddy open as soon I insert cd without clicking on cdplayer. Trying to send report with bug-buddy gets me a notice that bug-buddy failed and "to try newer gnome version". Vlc works fine since it allows selecting which drive to use. Cd player doesn't give me chance to select drive before crashing. It used to.
I have a Biostar TA785GE which as I understand it, has a Realtek 8111DL on-board.
Booting with the default label from the 64-bit installation DVD crashes before any user input, with indecipherable text on-screen (text mode, not X11). Symptoms were the same with the Fedora 11 32-bit installation DVD and the Fedora 12 Live 32-bit CD. Booting with "linux text" mode shows a kernel panic in ":r8169:rtl8169_init_one+0x369/0x9d4" from "pci_device_probe+0x100/0x180".
Disabling the on-board NIC allowed the boot to proceed, and get as far as detecting the hard drive partitions (where I stopped it since Ubuntu is installed).
Ubuntu 9.04 Workstation(Desktop?) install DVD worked fine, and I've installed it and am using it to enter this. From Ubuntu 9.04 on this hardware:

I am having a problem with my Core i5 system running Centos 5.5. The system will lock up with a black screen on occasion when launching X11 - this could happen at any time, from the install CD the first time it's being installed or trying a live CD, or the 3rd-10th time I launch startx from tty1 or sometimes just switching from tty1 to display0 or display1. When the crash occurs, sometimes the systems fans will all turn on loud, and the reset button becomes non-responsive. Other times the screen is black and it just sits there and I have to hard power off. There's nothing in /var/log/messages.
I tried a fix from an old post for 5.4 adding the option for "DDC" "false" in the xorg.conf file, and this did not help. I also ran all the system updates, no help.
The system is totally stable so long as I don't switch between ttys and X11 or launch new X11s (it's also stable under other OSs and has passed Memtest86+ 4).
Is this an instability with the Core i5 driver? The "Video Card" in the display options is set to "intel - Experimental modesetting driver for Intel Integrated Graphics Chipsets" - the "experimental" part is a little scary. Should I try setting the driver to "i810" as the 5.5 release notes recommends (again there's no onboard "chipset" this is an embedded graphics processor on the i5 CPU).

I'm trying to do a fresh CentOS 5.5 installation on a baby server with a Foxconn D51S based barebones system. BIOS is P04, the latest on their website.
When I have one 2GB memory installed, I am able to install the system and run it through some very vigorous testing without any issues. I have two DIMMs and both work just fine one at a time.
When I install two 2GB memory, it starts to crash hard during memory intensive operations, like mkfs or fsck.
I tested a 2.6.35 based kernel just in case it was an issue of old kernel + new hardware but the error persisted.
Google hasn't been helpful, and Foxconn support basically says "It runs windows, so that's good, right?").
What I've noticed is the system, when booted with one DIMM correctly reports that it has 2GB of ram (minus 8 megs for video, etc), but when I boot with both installed it seems to detect 4864MB of ram instead of the expected 4096.
Problems with xen 3.1.2 creating and installing domU CentOS 5.5 I am trying to do a virt-install --prompt --paravirt, and the install error out while trying to download install RPMs. I have googled for xen centos virt-install and various permutations. I have found similar howtos for 5.4 and 5.3, but they resulted in the same outcome. I did find several posts with similar issues, but no solution was posted.[URL]..
I am in the process of building a new server on an Asus P5QPL-AM motherboard and an Intel E8600 processor.explain to me the difference between the two versions and what would you recommend.Also, is there any advantage of SATA over IDE hard drives?
I presume we will be supporting Firefox 3.5. If not, ignore the rest of what I ask.
Since Firefox 3.0.x and 3.5.x are different releases, will yum treat them as different programs? If not, I presume "yum upgrade firefox" will work. If they are treated as different programs, do I have to uninstall FF (rpm -e firefox) before installing FF 3.5? How does this all work?
I recently upgraded (via Ubuntuzilla) to firefox 3.5.7 and now, every single time I close Firefox, the program seems to crash without quitting completely.
First, I receive an error saying that the program will not close and asks me if I want to Force Quite or Wait for it to close on its own. This has been happening ever since I upgraded to Karmic and if I just wait it usually quits fully after a couple seconds.
Now what happens is this: the window still closes, but if I try to reopen Firefox then I get this error stating that Firefox is already open and therefore cannot be opened again. The only way to get back into Firefox is to restart the entire computer. (Incidentally, this is the same problem that occurs whenever I try to Force Quit Firefox)
This now happens every single time I "close" Firefox.
Does anyone know the source of this error? Or a workaround?
