Server :: Service - Printername - Is Flagged Unavailable

Jul 28, 2010

WARNING No path in service <printername> - Making it unavailable!

I'm runing a CentOS 5.4 server. I have a Windows NT Domain. My CentOS server is in the Domain, Samba works fine (both ways). I haven't needed to print from the CentOS box until now. I have a shared HP LaserJet 2100 printer connected to a workstation and shared. Everyone can use it. I'm not using SELinux

I want to be able to print from the CentOS box to that printer.

I used Webmin to set it up, but no joy so I've searched the entire web for any info to do it manually but I'm stuck.

My smb.conf file looks OK. It's just the printer.

CentOS 5 :: Fork - Resource Temporarily Unavailable

Sep 11, 2009

I installed a while ago two CentOS 5.3 servers. One of them was running Samba and another OpenLDAP. I configured Samba to act as a PDC on the network and everything was working fine. I was already on policies configuration and desktop migrations.

The following problems are Samba server problem, LDAP server is on hold until I figure out the first problem.

Software conf:

Hardware conf:

One day, both servers began crashing, and after a while, it showed the following during the boot on Samba:

After that, ALL CentOS installations had this problem after yum update, epel installation and some smb.conf modifications:

I figured out it might be EPEL (i did installed yum-priorities and tryied updating the base sistem BEFORE epel installations), so I installed the system without EPEL yum repository. After some good and relieving 15 min working, the system crashed AGAIN after yum base update and showed the following on boot time:

And it stops right there.

Maybe some wrong kernel update? the first time it crashed in one way, with running updated system (After the first update, no manual update was done). The sequel problems were all after Kernel update and EPEL. The last one was just after Kernel update. I'll try one last time with NO updates, but i can't run the system like that.

I can't do anything that might one day crash, it's a 6000-7000 user gov environment, but i don't want to install another distro, so if I don't figure it out, they will order me to.

Server :: Samba "mount Error(11): Resource Temporarily Unavailable"?

Jun 30, 2010

I've been running Samba on Gentoo as a PDC for a Windows XP domain for several years. We are using the IdealX smbldap tools to maintain users, we are storing accounts in OpenLDAP, and everything has been just golden for quite a while. However, for various reasons, we are migrating our servers away from Gentoo and onto Ubuntu 10.04 (64-bit). Unfortunately, replicating our Samba PDC/OpenLDAP backend on Ubuntu is kicking our backsides.I've got Samba 3.4.7 running. I've got OpenLDAP running. ldapsearch/ldapmodify/ldapadd all work correctly. However, when I try to mount a Samba share on another Ubuntu machine, I get...:

Code:

CentOS 5 :: Accessing X Server As A Service?

Jun 3, 2010

I have a webservice which runs under Apache Tomcat. The service is started via a script in /etc/init.d. During the course of the Web service processing, the software must make use of the two NVIDIA GPUs on the computer to do some graphics processing. When this system is booted but not logged in, the web service is accessible but the software cannot access the software cannot access the X server to do it's processing. However, when I am logged in, the user can access the X servers and run correctly. I have tried various solutions but I always have to be logged in to run the software. I seem to have permissions problems but I'm unsure how to resolve them

Is there any way to grant permissions to root (the tomcat service is started as root) to allow it to run the software without logging in?

I am running CentOS 5.4 with Gnome display manager.

I am running CentOS 5.

I have been reading about chkconfig and creating a file in /etc/init.d for chkconfig to handle but I cannot seem to get it to work whenever I 'chkconfig servicename on' and then 'service servicename start'

When I do chkconfig --list my service is listed there.

Can someone provide me with a sample of the file I need to create in /etc/init.d and how to get everything running?

Server :: 389 Directory Service Setup On CentOS 5.5

Feb 1, 2011

I am trying to accomplish an objective, I need to get 389 Directory server installed in the process however is it possible to just have email addresses of users in the LDAP server? I have a primary domain, example 'abcefg.com' with about 3,000 users and several hosted domains like 'xyz.com' and 'mno.com'. The end goal is to speed up email processing, so instead of the Barracuda asking the email server(s) if a user exist it queries the LDAP.

Is there a way to configure 389 Directory Server to contain just the email addresses of the end users to allow the Barracuda to poll the LDAP server to verify the email address is valid. The rest of the authentication like password is handled by the email server. So in the end the LDAP server would just contain the email addresses (live) and the Barracuda would query the LDAP asking if joebob@abcefg.com exist if it does carry on. If user xxeedd@abcefg.com does not exist drop it and go on.

Software :: Service Bla Start Not Working On CentOS?

Aug 3, 2010

I've just compiled and installed some software (coova-chilli). I usually control this as a service so immediately after install I tried service chilli start I got the following error:

Starting chilli: which: no start-stop-daemon in (/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin)

If i run which chilli I get: /sbin/chilli I've tried 'updatedb' and a reboot but no luck. I remember a few months ago I was playing with chilli before and I this was happening. I had to run a simple command to update something or other and it fixed the issue. Of course, I can't remember what that command was.
