I have been struggling to get Linux on my main business computer. These two programs really trip me up as I can not really find alternatives to them[URL].. are the programs, I have found an online business plan program called planhq.com that can kind of replace Business plan pro, but I still need better financials. Neither program works under WINE at all.

I'm trying to change some configurations but when I change it from the default options in main.cf, it doesn't actually update the running configuration. I've even restarted the server all together but it still doesn't update it.In main.cf, here is the configuration I've added:
bounce_template_file = /etc/postfix/bounce.cf
bounce_queue_lifetime = 4h
maximal_queue_lifetime = 4h
delay_warning_time = 1h

upgrading to the latest kernel, which my Ubuntu 10.04 did automatically, I cannot shutdown, suspend, or restart from the main menu.In other words, I click ubuntu logo on the taskbar, click Shutown and select Shut Down or any of the remaining 2 options, but nothing happens. Just the menu window disappears.I had adjusted the power button of my notebook to shut down the computer and this works now.

I'm trying to make the Debian sub menu appear by clicking 'on' the Debian box in System -> Preferences -> Main Menu but when I exit the Debian sub menu doesn't appear. One post I found talked about ROOT owning the directories, but not sure if that is the case with me or not.
I last asked this four years ago and got a response with a very lengthy script that had to be run at boot time, in terminal mode.

Using Centos 5.4 I've successfully set up pppd and wvdial to automatically dial out but I need wvdial to call an alternative number if the number is busy or dialout fails for some other reason and I cannot get this to work. I've gone back to basics and tried manually soliciting wvdial with a minimal wvdial.conf:
[Dialer ppp-client]
Password = secret
Modem = /dev/ttyS1
Phone = 11111111111
Phone1 = 22222222222
[Code]...

I would like to start a program as root but the only wasan get it to work is to set it up as a "Terminal Application" and put sudo in front of the command. I'm trying to set up my system(Ubuntu 10.04hat the main menu and its contents (application, places, system, etc) do not appear(or are hidden in such a way that the user cannot access it). This sounds counter-intuitive. I know. I tried deleting them by hand,but they reappear after every reboot. Is there a system file with preferences that I can edit or something else that can be done?
