I'm configuring a new public mail server running Centos 5.5 and Sendmail 8.13.8. I would like that the sendmail configuration is correct. The server will handle many domains using Virtualmin. Everyone can send mail only if authenticated, which I already tested.
How can I upload configuration file? I receive an error if try to upload a zip file.
After few hours working I can connect to ftp.And download files from the server.But I can not upload file or create directory.I checked my configure file several time could not figure it out.

I am now trying to setup a VSFTP server where local users can upload files to there home directory so that Apache can serve web pages straight from the directories of system user home/accounts giving users the ability to run their own web sites which are hosted off the main server [tutorial here: [url]
So far i have been able to serve/display index.html files from the users home directory [url] but so far i cant upload files to any user home directory, every time i try to upload a file with filezilla i get this error message: 553 Could not create file. Critical file transfer error
I have searched online for similar problems like mine and so far i've tried alot of the solution but none seem to work. I'm confused, dont know where i went wrong, i put the users in a group called ftpusers and here are the permissions on the users (test, ftpuser & testftp) home directory. have a look an tell me where i went wrong :(
Also the root directory where the web pages are served from is called public_html here are the permissions

I have just started using linux. I have setup an ubuntu apache2 server. It has been running brilliantly and I am highly impressed with the Linux system. My box is an HTTP server and I am hosting a website on it. I have VSFTPD installed and functioning as my FTP software. It has worked fine so far but I have been a bit annoyed that I have had to set permissions for each file I have put on there.
Now I have run into a serious issue with the permissions being set to 600 and I really need them to 755 because I am running an automatic upload for a webcam and the Image can't be accessed due to the automatic permissions of 600 being set to the image. My extensive windows background tells me that I need to apply the correct permissions to the WWW folder and get the files to inherit these permissions automatically.
I just want to place upload/download limit to each ip address ( say 20MB per day for each ip or specific ip) using squid proxy i tried through delay pool but it control only download/upload speed not place any download/upload quota restriction. following are my codes I have 1Mbps line

II would like to be able to do this semi-automatically: I just give the command and it connects to the server and uploads the file. View 5 Replies View RelatedI rent a dedicated virtual server (ve) from Media Temple. It is one of those servers where they give you the base OS install and then you have to install all of your own applications.
Anyways, setting up the FTP software for the server has been hell. I am using ProFTPd and Webmin 1.510. I am able to log into the FTP and upload files to any of the directories that I have created.
The issue here is that I cannot download anything from my server via FTP. I have tried multiple clients (Filezilla is what I use normally), but they all come back with "Transfer cannot be started".
I finally have my system to where I can connect to proftpd but my uploads fail. I think my problem lies in the upload folder. I do not really understand where to put it. Will someone look at this config file and tell me where to put it and what I need to do to get it working. A basic anonymous configuration, no upload directories.

I am using debian squeeze, with browsers chrome, firefox, and flashplugins installed.
I get online via ipv4 DSL, pppoe(I don't quite sure their relationships), I can browse websites, watch flash smoothly, can download softwares from websites to my desktop PC via the browser chrome or firefox with speed about 200kB/s, if I download an some 700MB ubuntu iso from ftp6.sjtu.edu.cn, it reaches 10MB/s.
The thing is, I can't upload files from my PC to online disks(say [url], [url] via browser (firefox, chrome etc), can't send email with an attach file even as small as 1MB via broser, can't post topics on this forum with attachment, can't upload pics to Facebook.
When I try do these "upload things", the web browser just stays there and doesn't refresh. Some online disks have a instant upload speed of 10kb/s ,then it quickly slow down to less than 200b/s, finally it stoped there ,and say "upload failed, network failure".
Here is my configuration files or test results.
I wonder if there is a file containing configuration parameters of linux console.Currently I have to manually config console parameters every time.

My eth0 upload speed is now very bad although download speed is good. I suspect that it could be related to my other problem [URL] which was caused by the OS enabling noveau driver instead of the installed NVIDIA proprietary drivers.

I am trying to upload some pics on my Facebook account using Firefox. When I click on Facebook's file upload icon, Firefox bring up a 'File Upload' window. I noticed that smaller image file is previewed on the lower right hand corner, while bigger image file is not. The program creates a service on a specific port, then attempts to connect to it based on the host name. So my hosts file has to be correct.I added the nameservers to resolv.conf and now my application will not run. My guess is that the computer is checking the name servers first, timing out then checking the hosts file.Is there a way I can tell the system to check the hosts file first, then DNS. I thought it should behave that way by default, but it does not appear to.

Looking at the sendmail configuration, it appears procmail is the MDA. I have looked at many different tutorials and how-tos, but most are old, and/or the locations/paths and setups are markedly different from the defaults on my system. Can anyone recommend a good CentOS-based tutorial on Procmail w/ recipes? (I have an RHEL book and it's no help either.) Thank you for your time and consideration.
