I'm trying to change the default mysql port with no success. I looked at my.cnf file and there's no reference to port. I also looked at the iptables and mysql is running on 3306 (default).I've changed the iptable file but mysql fails to restart. If I add port = [my port number] to the my.cnf file, mysql fails to start.
Now that I've set up an FTP server here at home I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to change from the default Port 21 to something else. Can I use any port I desire or are there only certain ports that support this protocol?
Mysql starting problem after changing mysqladmin password.I tried all the solutions available on forums, but not solve the problem. At last I restored the mysql db backup, this make mysql service start, but till other databases not showing all tables.
im using CentOS 5.2 and cant change my default ssh port number. I have edited /etc/ssh/sshd_config to this
#$OpenBSD: ssh_config,v 1.21 2005/12/06 22:38:27 reyk Exp $ # This is the ssh client system-wide configuration file. See # ssh_config(5) for more information. This file provides defaults for # users, and the values can be changed in per-user configuration files
I have then restarted ssh by typing (as root) "sbin/service sshd restart" and it restarts fine but still is on 22 and not 222.
I would like to use HDMI on my graphic card for audio output. ALSA shows it as a card with 4 devices and I can get sound through one of them (the other three are different channels, perhaps? I have only stereo output connected). Although Pulseaudio has the right card set as default, it seems to me that it plays on a wrong device. Pacmd shows that the sink has parameter alsa.device set to the first device listed by ALSA, but I can get sound only from the second one.How can I force Pulseaudio to use another device of the same card as a default output?
I was playing around the default mysql that comes with Slackware 13, and I think I broke it somehow. I don't want to fix it, I'd like to start from scratch, building from source and everything, but first I have to remove this broken installation. How can I do this?
I was using ubuntu 10.04 till yesterday.. and due to hdd crash i have changed my hdd.
while looking for my installation disc, my wall-mate gives me this Ubuntu Studio dvd and instead of downloading a new one, i have installed the studio. at the first sight ... i am being a fond of studio version .. its really cool.
now, i am quite habituated with default appearance of ubuntu, i found studio appearance is quite unusual (for me, menu layouts, panel everything).
I would like to know how do i change this default appearance like ubuntu default 10.04 appearance. I am attaching a screen-shoot of my friends desktop, he upgraded his ubuntu thru apptitude update.
I want to change the application that opens my mp3 files.
At present if I double click an mp3 it opens in the movie viewer for some reason. I know I can use "open with..." to get a file to open in Rythymbox instead, but I have over 800 mp3 files and want to change the default for all of them.
Though this might seem like a [URL] question at first glance I don't think it is. I have a mysql database on a server at work. Every time I log in to execute a query, I have to manually select the one database I want from the one database I have, which is a waste of time. Is there any way for me as an end user to set a default?
I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 from earlier versions. I have a dual boot system with Windows 7. Grub was set to boot Windows by default Things were working fine. I decided to upgrade to Grub2. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Now when booting up,the name at the top of the Grub menu is 1.98, which is Grub 2. When I run grub-install -v, it comes back grub-install (GNU GRUB 0.97) which is not Grub2. Now when I boot up, Ubuntu 10.04 is the default. I have to manually choose Windows if I want to use that system. I have been unable to change the boot order following instructions from this site. Any Way changing the boot order to make Windows 7 the default. I am using a Toshiba Satellite.
The default output audio port Ubuntu doesn't work on my system. It should be "Analog Mono Output/Amplifier", instead of "Analog Output/Amplifier". I can easily change that in sound preferences, just by choosing the right port in the "Output" tab. The problem is this would only apply to a single account, and I would like to change it system-wide, so it applies to all accounts on the system (I have more than 100 users...).
Update: I can achieve the same effect as I would by changing it in sound preferences using the following command: pacmd 'set-sink-port' 'alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1f.5.analog-stereo analog-output-mono;output-amplifier-on' Unfortunately that's still not system-wide,
I'm getting the following error on my webpage :Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 111 in /var/www/vhosts/...When I use the default MySQL port 3306, then I have no error. But when I use port 33060, then I get the error !My /etc/my.cnf :
i have installed CentOS along with ISPConfig. For some reason apache will not run it says there are no listening sockets avaliable. I have done a netstat and also tried nmap to see if any other service was using port 80 but it doesnt show anything. I also tried changing the port number to something like 81 still no go. On bootup of CentOS it shows the error and a message saying unable to open logs.
Has anyone been able to successfully change MySQL's default datadir in Fedora? I've tried on two machines now (F7 and F11), but run into the same problem on both. Here is what I did:
1. shutdown MySQL (service mysqld stop) 2. create new mysql directory (e.g. ~/mysql/) and set ownership to mysql:mysql 3. move tables from /var/lib/mysql to the new directory (I've tried moving only one user-created table, and also moving system tables with same result). 4. edit my.cnf and change "datadir" to point to new location 5. start MySQL (service mysqld start)
setting it up to handle one of my email accounts as a start, i can get evolution to receive mail but not to send. in outlook, i have to change the smtp port from 25 to 587 for high-speed connections. otherwise the server blocks, and i feel sure that's what's causing my problem in evolution: i can't find where to change the port to 587.looking through some other posts here, it seems like it may not be possible through the evolution gui. if not, are there things i can enter from the terminal that will carry over into evolution settings? if there are (or better: if it can be done in evolution after all
I would like to change port number for a specific folder name on linux server like domain.com/folder_name:yyyy so people can access that folder with pre defined port number. is there a way that I can do that?
Right now my server is being used as a Minecraft server. I have a site hosted on it, but my ISP blocks port 80, so I'm the only one who is able to view the site. I want to be able to change the port the site is on so that anyone can view it. I've looked it up and apparently that is possible; however, I haven't found out how to do it. I've changed the ports.conf file in /etc/apache2 and the default file in /etc/apache2/sites-available, but it didn't work. All that did was take my site off of 80, but it did not put it on the new port I specified. What exactly do I have to change so that when I go to mysite:port, it loads my website?
EDIT: Also, just for extra information, the two ports I tried were 8080 and 81.
I have an Asterisk on an externally hosted vServer with Lenny. In order to further protect the SSH access I intended to change the Port number 22 to something like 55555. For this I changed the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file and restarted ssh. This caused unfortunately the following problems:
(1) The first login works but DenyHost writes now the IP in its list so that the second login with the same IP is blocked.
(2) With RESET_ON_SUCCESS = yes several logins were possible with the same IP, but later it also was blocked for some still unknown reasons.
(3) Files can be uploaded for being edited, but they can't always be saved. When they can't be saved the next login with this IP is blocked. It thus looks like the blocking can occur while being connected. When the files can't be saved it is however still possible to copy files from the computer to the vServer.
I add below the entries in the auth.log from a logout and a login. It shows further how suddenly the attempts to save files were blocked. After this session the IP used for it was blocked. I don't know where the message "Unable to open env file: /etc/default/locale" comes from. If I remember right I had these messages already before. I don't know how much that is really important.
My ISP Blocks port 80 so I changed the port to 8081 after I do this and restart Apache and use my IP with :8081 after I get a page saying Not Found The requested URL /index.html was not found on this server. I get this same message if I use my real IP or the IP from my router. What can be causing this?
I need to know what the Iptables "code" is to change the outgoing/Incoming IP for port 53 (DNS). I'm running CentOS on a dedicated server. I very familiar with Putty and SSH. So I don't need much details, I just can't figure this out. I asked my server providor but they deleted my ticket and didn't answer me.I tried this but am not sure if this correct of working?
if I do ls on my database location. Here is the result
root@bilal-laptop:~# ls -la /home/glucose/mysql total 20512 drwxr-xr-x 7 mysql mysql 4096 2010-02-09 16:30 .
Because of which I am not able to start mysql. I am not able to locate actual log file as well.I looked at few log files they don't seem to tell me anything. But I am not sure which one I should be looking at as there are quite a few related to mysql.
