I got this error when opening phpmyadmin, I check that my mysql is keep automatic closed.
#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly config).
Im using CentOs on a remote server. I've recently installed phpmyadmin but cant access from [URL] I checked the files and found only 3 folders in /var/lib/phpmyadmin -config / save / upload - all of them empty. Whenever I try intstall phpmyadmin again it just says its already installed and up to day.

Phpinfo displays properly, and i can even do a few simple database calls via databases i made from the commandline.
I try to install the phpMyAdmin package (i think its from RPMForge, but it might be from EPEL). The package installs without problems, yet when i attempt to go to localhost/phpMyAdmin, i get a 404 error.
Is there something i need to do with my apache configuration to make this work? There seems to be very little documentation on this package.
If there isnt anything i could do, i could go through and do it by hand, but i want to have the advantage of using packages for the automatic updates.
EDIT1: Ok, i reinstalled the package, and now i get a 403:Forbidden instead of a 404.
Again, localhost/phpMyAdmin.
i have linux server application based on centos 5 that run httpd daemon from /usr/local/pf/conf/httpd.conf which is generated from the /usr/local/pf/conf/templates/httpd.conf.apache22 file
the problem is every time i run my linux server application i am not able to access phpmyadmin unless i stop my linux server application which is stop it httpd daemon then start "service httpd start"
i have been told by forum moderator to create an alias for my phpmyadmin in Virtual Host but it stil dont work, i am not able access my phpmyadmin site
this is what i have done to solve this problem
- open /usr/local/pf/conf/templates/httpd.conf.apache22 file then look for <VirtualHost *:%%admin_port%%>
- add Alias /phpmyadmin "/usr/share/phpmyadmin" (Failed)
- add Alias /phpmyadmin /usr/share/phpmyadmin (Failed)
- add Alias /phpmyadmin "/usr/share/phpmyadmin/" (Failed)

why i still cant open my phpmyadmin site ? or why i cant run phpmyadmin together with my linux server application because it use the same daemon (httpd daemon)
after a update to 5.3 from 5.2 via the built in updater the system stops responding to visitors from the outside, http that is, but heres the odd part, if i say run firefox on the server the connection works also for some reason if i'm on the network with my own computer the connection seems to stay open but as soon as i stop using these the server seems to drop the conenctions, but as i said as soon as i go via my comp to the server via say ie it works right away.
this i tried yesterday:did a cold boot to see if some update had problems and actually needed a reboot even if the updater didn't say, after it started the connection seemed to be open for a good while, and not untill this morning from a outside source the connection is droped again, not been on my comp nor logged on on the server today yet.the install only has on it what i got from the dvd, and as far as i know it has all the updates on it since 5.3 came out.my network is built up like this:

I am running CentOS 5.2 on a server here in my home. It runs Dovecot and Postfix and also serves as a website host for a small website of mine. Everything works fine. POP, SMTP, Webmail, WWW, all works great and has for ages.Here's the issue. I recently reinstalled a clean copy of Windows 7 on a workstation in my home onto a new harddrive(I still have the old drive int he machine so I can boot to it as well). I setup the Windows Live Mail client to send/receive mail with my mail/web server. However, it won't connect to the POP server on my server machine.Here's the kicker. If I boot to the old harddrive that is running Windows 7, it connects fine to my mailserver and can send/receive just fine. I've checked, rechecked and rechecked and all mail settings on the mail clients on both drives are identical.
Note: The installations of Windows 7 on both drives is identical. Same computer name/ same credentials, same IP, etc. However, as I stated, I can send/receive email with my server if I boot to my old drive, but if I boot to my new drive, I cannot send/receive.
Summary: Does a discrepancy between MySQL client library 5.0.x and MySQL server of 5.1.50 cause "inconsistent behavior", as reported by phpMyAdmin? The longer version: Windows Sysadmin taking the plunge into Linux. I tried to spare you all the rookie questions and did a fair bit of reading. I'm rather happy I was able to get CentOS 5.5 installed and running, configured iptables, got the kernel updated, Apache, MySQL and PHP installed. Then upgraded PHP to 5.2 after I figured out how repos and priorities work.
I got phpMyAdmin installed and running, then decided to upgrade from 2.11 to 3.3.7 but it keeps complaining that my MySQL client libraries are something like 5.0.63, while my server is 5.1.50, and this may cause "inconsistent behavior" or something of the like. So, feeling industrious, I decided to find an updated client.
MySQL-client-community-5.1.50-1.rhel5.i386.rpm
But it wouldn't let me install it as it conflicted with the default mysql-server installation. I also couldn't remove just the old client, to update to a newer one. So I blew away everything mysql on my server and installed the above client

and that server file. I'm assuming I'm missing dependencies now as phpMyAdmin claims it can't load the mysql extension. Attempting to 'yum' php-mysql tried to install 'mysql' as a dependency, which immediately conflicted with the files I'd installed. At this point I'm wondering if I'm closing in on successfully installing a version that phpMyAdmin doesn't complain about, or if I should even care that it is complaining and just go back to all the repo versions of everything.

5.5 (64bit). My server goes into non responding state where I can't telnet, ftp or ssh server whereas PING is the only thing which works at that time. I need to hard reboot server to get it back online. This is happening very frequently in fact yesterday and today server went inaccessible. which log file should I look into to find out the reasons of this inaccessibility?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am bit new to Linux and have setup caching-only name server with Centos 5.5. when i do dig server, it provide resolutions. but when i use the server IP as DNS on my windows client, it says, "connection refused" on the NSlookup output. (IP table didn't enable) My server Ip is 192.168.1.253 and bellow is the configuration of "/var/named/chroot/etc/named.conf"

When I VNC into my CentOS server I am always met with the usual GUI and an annoying terminal window. If I try to close the terminal window it reappears immediately. I can only minimize it to the taskbar. Am I missing a simple setting to disable this?

I would like to connect via SSH or similar to my servers located in a remote DC from a laptop running centos5. I normally do this on a puter running dows, and using secureCRT. Just wondering if centos has something built in for this, or if there is some preferably free software I can get.

So I was then installing phpMyAdmin so I just put the whole folder into my /var/www/html/phpMyAdmin.The I tried to run my phpMyAdmin and I got this error Cannot load mysql extension. Then I uinstall my mysql db and reinstall it. Again it show me the same error.For addition info via the php info page for the Configure Command I saw this option -without-mysql' .

I get "403 Forbidden You don't have permission to access" after attempting an installation of phpmyadmin.
CentOS 5.4
Permissions for directory set to 755 recursively (chomd -R 755 <directory name>)
Directory is in /var/www/html/
I have other test pages in the /var/www/html/ directory that I can access ... I know this seems like a permission issue and in fact the error log states this is a permission issue, but I cannot figure what is the problem here.
I have installed on a remote server phpmyadmin 3.3.1 and mysql 5.1.46 on a centos 5.4 OS.
Any newly created user with phamyadmin is unable to login both from mysql command line (from localhost) and phpmyadmin (localhost and remotely).
No prob when the user is created with mysql command line (from localhost). All of the users created with phpmyadmin, are not "visible" recognized from the show user command via the mysql command line. The setting I used when I create any user was the same as the ones with the mysql command line creation.
The error message I get when accessing from mysql command line (from localhost) is the following: "Access denied for user ... @localhost (using password: yes)"
I just updated my CentOS machine from 5.2 to 5.3. After rebooting, I found a few commands are not responding after the update.
The non-responding commands are:finger, groups,chown I did nothing after the update.
The server is a Dell 1650 1U server, which a fresh install of CentOS 5.3, formatting the drive in the process. It has two e1000 NIC's and based on the wiring eth0 is the public segment and eth1 is the private segment.Both nic's make a solid 100mb connection to the cisco switch, and I can ping both interfaces "just fine".
If I run nmap on a remote PC that is also dual-homed in this fashion, I get the same response as to which ports are open (essentially everything since I disabled iptables temporarily to troubleshoot this issue) on both interfaces, which would be the expected result.But... and here is the source of my confusion... I can see the server by pinging it, I can use SSH to make such a connection and log in, but I cannot get apache to "answer the phone" so to speak.Runing "tcpdump -i eth0" shows me that my browser on a remote PC is attempting to connect, but without reply.If I send my browser to the ip address of eth1, I get the default CentOS new web server page as is the norm.Nothing shows in my /var/log/httpd/access_log or error_log at all... apache simply isn't answering.The httpd.conf is the original, and the one line I attempted to 'adjust' was the "listen 80" line, which I added the ip addresses specifically, but that didn't change anything.I am unsure how nmap can indicate the port is open and there is a service behind it, when on the same PC that ran nmap, I cannot connect at all.Might anyone have a clue to toss me so I can work to figure this out?

To have these:

Then I set the MySQL vi /etc/mysql/my.cnf to comment out #bind-address = 127.0.0.1
There is another line that most of the guides asked me to comment out but I cannot find that like: # skip-networking
The Next closest match to that is: skip-external-locking
I will assume that is not it and leave it alone....
I keep getting errors for example: "Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly"
Another error was it canno connect because it is not accepting connections from the IP Address of my webserver...
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed the following behavior lately. Sometimes, when I enter a directory, during the generation of thumbnails nautilus freezes up with 100% cpu use. It has to be killed. It will then happen whenever I try to enter that specific directory with nautilus (although access with Konqueror or command-line is fine). Turning off the previews allows nautilus to enter that directory (usually... once even that didn't work). If I create a new directory and move all the files from the troublesome directory into the new directory, I can enter the new directory with nautilus and it works fine, even with thumbnails turned on. I can even rename that directory to the same name as the problematic one had and it will work. Long ago this behavior used to happen very rarely, then it seemed to be fixed, and now it is happening again but fairly frequently.
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and, if so, do they know what is causing it? A simple solution is to turn off thumbnails but I'd prefer another solution.
I've got a machine running Ubuntu Server that is on several VLANs. Each VLAN has its own subnet and the server has an address on each subnet. The switches are set to allow tagged traffic to the server for each VLAN that it is on. Switch ports ending with workstations are given untagged ports on whatever VLAN is appropriate. Workstations are given addresses on a subnet for each VLAN via DHCP. All this works great and hosts on any subnet/VLAN can access the server as normal via its address on that subnet/VLAN.
Accessing the machine by its address on a non-local subnet is where I run into a problem. Inter-subnet traffic has to go through a router, which has been set up appropriately. Running tcpdump on the server and pinging it from a workstation on a subnet, using its address on a different subnet, shows the server receives the ping, but sends no response:

I am connecting servers using NFS4 the shared directories are on servers running Debian 4 while the one who read from them is Debian 5.0.3. The problem is one of these shared servers suddenly stop responding and you cannot list it from Debian 5 server, also df hang, and the web application that is using it does not respond to requests that use this shared directory since it is blocked. Then the load on the server start to increase until the server cannot respond (over 90). I have found many entries in the syslog that refer to this like:

I have tried the connection between the 2 servers using ping for one day and all are OK (zero lost)
There are 3 other servers that are running Debian 4 and are working fine.
Setup - PmaWiki tells me that for some reason openSUSE does not support the setupscript.
I have been following the The Perfect Server - OpenSUSE 11.3 x86_64 [ISPConfig 3] | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials but used for i586. Everything works fine, except i am not able to find a way to set a password to be checked by dovecot/pam, to enter a mailbox via squirrelmail. The args are set, but i simply can not find out where to set the password and username.
The password set in ISPConfig does not apply to the squirrelmail login for dovecot.
The general idea than was to get phpMyAdmin running, and set up passwords there...(i do not even know if that is going to work, but get phpMyAdmin to work would not be bad at all..)
So, to know how to set a password/username in/for dovecot would be fine also... (i've read all the wikipages like: AuthDatabase/PasswdFile - Dovecot Wiki but now i still do not know where and how to set them.

I have problems with nfs. There is an old legato cluster Automated Availability Manager on Linux. And lately we noticed problem with nfs
in the logs there are still entries:
I tried to add more threads in /etc/sysconfig/nfs but it didn't help.
And on one node there is info regarding double mounted filesystems with df -h command. Why? In /etc/fstab is only one entry.
I seem to have a working install of Ubuntu Server 11.04 (Samba running without issue on same machine). The lamp stack seems to be running fine as well. (Apache index.html page works, phpinfo() works, mysql works from the mysql command line.) I have installed phpmyadmin. After install I had to reboot the server (restarting Apache still said error in PHP and couldn't start). After reboot, the welcome screen comes up, but using root with password doesn't work. Using an admin user that I created with privileges in *.* doesn't work either. There are no errors on the screen, it just simply loops back to the beginning screen.
There is an error in apache2 error.log saying that it can't find the page [URL] which seems strange because you can bring up the welcome page, you just can't log into phpmyadmin with any of the created users that I made from the mysql commandline. I don't see any php errors in syslog (which is where the php errors are being directed) except a notice that CRON is running for some purpose for PHP.
I have install apache,php,mysql and then I have installed the phpmyadmin by issueing the command in terminal sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin
After this ,in my web brower i type... localhost/phpmyadmin ,it give the error message "Not Found
