I just installed a MySQL server but for unknown reason im not able to set a root password.
CentOS 5.4 - 2.6.18-164.9.1.el5PAE
MySQL Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.77, for redhat-linux-gnu (i686) using readline 5.1
# yum install -y mysql mysql-server php-mysql
# service mysqld start
# mysql -u root
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
I'm trying to setup wordpress on my server, which of course I need mysql for. I setup a database the other day, which worked perfectly, but I had to start again as I put some information in wrong. Now, I can create a database fine, but when I run
Code: GRANT ALL ON wordpress.* TO wordpress@localhost IDENTIFIED BY "password"; I get the output:
I'm currently running a membership site which is Joomla-based. Basically I need a bash script to constantly check that MySQL users table and copy those credentials into my SSH users list (subsequently giving them SSH access).I've looked at pam_mysql, but that merely is for authentication, it doesnt add them to the SSH users.
I have 2 servers, 1 running a web server on 1 IP address, the other server running a proxy on a different IP address. I intend to change and update the ncsa file with usernames and passwords from a mysql table. Is there a way to replicate 1 table from the webserver to the proxy server databases and then run a cronjob? The cron will simply delete unused usernames and add new ones.Is there a better way of doing this? I don't want to run the webserver on the proxy server for security and also for performance.
When a user logs into my webmail application, it creates entries in a table on MySQL called "identities" which works great however once the user is deleted fro Linux with the "userdel -r" command, the data still sits in MySQL. My question is how I can I remove the table data from old users? It appears as show below:
Kmail 1.13.2 Problem on startup, error is from nepomuk, data storage. "cannot find Redland backend, nepomuk is disabled until fixed. Also see the following error from the akonadi console:

We have a MyISAM table without .MYD and .MYI files for storing data and index but we can select data from the table. We can't use mysqlhotcopy for backup the table. Each time,we execute mysqlhotcopy, we have the following error: 'dbs.table: is not base table'. How do we repair the table to re-create .MYD and .MYI files?
we had a CENTOS 5.5 x86_64 machine with 8ered with MySQL 5.0.91-community.Currently we had a very high number of Created_tmp_disk_tables (31k in 4,5 hours!!!).I've read suggestion that we need to increase tmp_table_size, and we've set tmp_table_size to 64M, but this drupal modul's query still cause mysql create tmp table on disk
Code: SELECT DISTINCT node.nid AS nid, comments.subject AS comments_subject,
when I try to send emails to new created emails account, I get this error:
<teste@topdapop.com>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table And if I try to send a e-mail, the authentication fails if I setup the account at the desktop email client to password requirement on.
But it works when I try it using a webmail client (Horde) and I receive the email. The old emails accounts work fine. The new accounts and old ones were created with Plesk.I find an entry with
I have MySQL 5.1.34 and PHP 5.1.6 installed on my system, how do I install php-mysql? Each time I try, it says
mysql-5.0.45-7.el5.i386 from base has depsolving problems -- > mysql conflicts with mysql-server-community error: mysql conflicts with mysql-server-community
I just configured a complete Cent OS 5.2 system for use as a web server. I can configure Apache and PHP but MySQl seems to be causing some issues -
[mysqld] datadir=/var/lib/mysql socket = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock user=mysql # Default to using old password format for compatibility with mysql 3.x # clients (those using the mysqlclient10 compatibility package).
I have a Fedora box running a domain and a sub domain. It also is the mail server running Postfix and Dovecot. I have created a new user account in the Virtual Alias.conf file and run postfix reload.
"e.g [URL] admin_company"
This new account can send mail internally and externally but cannot receive mail internally and externally. The error message internally is: 5.1.1 <admin@threadneedle.com.pg>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table
I am using CentOS5 and installed the MySQL for server during the installation. I can set up and use MySQL databases. But I cannot make it startup everytime the server restarts. And quite a lot of methods need this folder "support-files/mysql.server", while my set up cannot find this. I am wondering if my installation of the MySQL for server is complete or not.
I have installed on a remote server phpmyadmin 3.3.1 and mysql 5.1.46 on a centos 5.4 OS.
Any newly created user with phamyadmin is unable to login both from mysql command line (from localhost) and phpmyadmin (localhost and remotely).
No prob when the user is created with mysql command line (from localhost). All of the users created with phpmyadmin, are not "visible" recognized from the show user command via the mysql command line. The setting I used when I create any user was the same as the ones with the mysql command line creation.
The error message I get when accessing from mysql command line (from localhost) is the following: "Access denied for user ... @localhost (using password: yes)"
Rebooted my server after some funky stuff started happening with mysql. Turns out the drive that stores the mysql databases has gone missing. I did an fdisk, and the partition table is gone. I used gpart to see if there were any partitions available & there were -- two + one swap. Can you help me put this back together I know very little about reconstructing a table to use... Here is the output of what I've talked about...
I have been reading about asterisk, I did some basic configuration, a small ivr, record messages.. but I was wondering how and what/where should I modify to use a database to save sip users and voicemail user..then we can add user/voicemail with php-myadmin I always search but I cant find about this configuration..
Might this is silly question but I am not much familiar to database.I am doing master slave Mysql replication for load balancing. On master server different database has different user privileges. I create backup using mysqldump command and restore on slave server instead of using load data from master; command. When i replicate database from master to slave will i require to set user privileges same as master ?One more question: How to lock all database in mysql?
This is my first post, I hope I'm the the right place. I installed mysql mysql-server php-mysql perl-DBD-mysql libdbi-dbd-mysql via "yum install -y" on a server running CentOS 5.3 X86_64 The install completes successful with no errors, but once I start mysqld via "chkconfig --level 35 mysqld on" ; "service mysqld start" There are no errors in /var/log/mysqld.log netstat shows mysqld listening on 3306 and localhost is in /etc/hosts
I have two Centos 5 servers one running Asterisk with PHP installed and another sever running as a MySql Database server, at the moment when I try run simple script to see if I can connect to the remote server I get the following error.Quote:Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
I'm using an older redhat system (2.6.9-22.ELsmp) here which is running an older mysql (server version: 4.1.12). I don't think that's the source of the problems. I believe that have understood things rightly when I say that the mysql root user is unrelated to the linux root user ... in my case I believe the root user to be the unix user mysql. So when I connect to the server (local host from a local terminal) I use: Code: -bash-3.00$ mysql -u mysql -p and enter a blank password
This gets me on, however I seem unable to do anything like create database or alter privilege. I wonder if its related to my finding no database called mysql? -bash-3.00$ mysql -u mysql -p Enter password: Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or g. Your MySQL connection id is 11 to server version: 4.1.12
Type 'help;' or 'h' for help. Type 'c' to clear the buffer. mysql> show databases; +----------+ | Database | +----------+ | test | +----------+ 1 row in set (0.00 sec) Although I understand that show databases will not show things I have no priv to see. Does this mean my settings for the users are all screwed? How do I rectify this situation? Some other (perhaps) useful information.
Code: [root ~]# cat /etc/my.cnf [mysqld] datadir=/var/lib/mysql socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock # Default to using old password format for compatibility with mysql 3.x # clients (those using the mysqlclient10 compatibility package). old_passwords=1 [mysql.server] user=mysql basedir=/var/lib [mysqld_safe] err-log=/var/log/mysqld.log pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid
So my BASEDIR seems to be nothing like is suggested in the documentation at [URL].
I'm using dovecot pop3 server in my website. I tried to create a virtual user system with mysql. But it didn't work. Next I tried to debug my work with reading of dovecot log. I enabled logging in it by changing this values in /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-logging.conf:
After that I tried to login to the pop3 via telnet and it failed as usual. After I checked the log file (/var/log/dov), but it does not contain any information about that failed login. Only there was some information about starting up of dovecot! Does any body know that what is the problem and why dovecot doesn't log that?
I've tried every manual there is for creating new MySQL users ... but without success. I keep getting
Code: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'test'@'localhost' (using password: YES) even though I just created it with all privileges ... WITH a password that I DO remember .
Fortunately I still have access via the MySQL root user (so I try not to disturb that user, because I have had computers with THAT account not accessible as well - even WITH resetting the password via skip-grant-tables).
We purchased a virtual server from GoDaddy (1 month trial) to set up as a proxy for our networks (24 of them). I am having 2 separate issues. The first is I can't configure/install NAT and support is telling me the only way I can is to purchase a dedicated server. Here's the error:
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-port 3128 iptables v1.3.5: can't initialize iptables table `nat': Table does not exist (do you need to insmod?) Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded. Here's the fix: [URL] So, what I am hoping to do is configure this by just opening port 3128 directly, and only allowing access from our networks. As a test I did this and allowed only from our office and it did not work. However I can't connect, so I am wondering what I am doing wrong? Here's my squid configuration:
I did something silly and changed my root user access for mysql access to Any from localhost using webmin. I get an access dented when i try to open up the mysql editing page on webmin. Can any of you tell me if there is a way to change it back to hosts=localhost I am using webmin 1.5.30 on Centos 5.5. I am hoping I can change it by command line or if I can access the config files and change it that way?
I have just run into a baffling error. I have a database set up in MySQL with six tables. My PHP based website performs queries of all kinds on these tables (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE). On my most recently setup table, the "Orders" table, I am able to perform queries from the server, as well as from my PHP MySQL Admin interface, but all activity from my webpage states that the Orders table does not exist. All other tables are running fine. I have tried rewriting the query script, checked for case sensitivity problems, even cut and pasted other working scripts in place, changing the table and field names as needed. No success. What could cause a single table to not show up like this?
I tried to install php from source file on centos server and i got the error as # ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/packages/apache/bin/apxs --with-mysql --prefix=/usr/local/packages/apache/php --enable-force-cgi-redirect --disable-cgi --with-zlib --with-gettext --with-gdbm
