Dec 23, 2010I have checked the forums but can't find a topic that covers this. I have an 8Gb Micro SDHC in a micro reader that I installed 10.10 onto from the Alternate DVD. Unfortunately I neglected to set up the swap and home volumes and I now have a stick with all 8GB used up.
I have configured up Ubuntu to my liking and also added some applications. I would prefer not to lose this and I don't appear to be able to adjust the partition table live to now accommodate the swap and home areas.
Is there a way to do it live or can I boot from the DVD again and adjust the one partition to three such as 4 GB root, 2G Swap and 2 Gb Home?

Aug 24, 2011For the last several weeks i've been trying KDE and it's been working quite fine. There are however several minor issues with KDE.
First - how can i format a usb stick? In GNOME after the usb stick has been plugged in one just have to right click on it and select "Format". Here i don't see such an option. I googled it and i read somewhere that the tool for this would be KDE partition manager. I installed it but it looks like an overkill for the task. KDE partition manager is high level tool like GParted, whereas i'm looking for something that integrates into the desktop so i can just right click on the usb drive and select format. Besides KDE partition manager asks for a root password which is logical because it can format all your partitions. However i don't see the need for a root password when one is going to format a usb drive.
Second - i tried to use my micro sd card yesterday and while it mounted automatically i couldn't write anything on it or delete any of the files on it ( didn't have this problem with the usb stick though). How can i change that? I have a default Debian install with a nearly default KDE 4.6.5. In GNOME the SD card was always mounted writable by default.
Third - i am using Iceweasel, Rhythmbox and GIMP which are GTK applications. To make them look OK in KDE i installed gtk2-engines-oxygen and kde-config-gtk-style and i also installed the Oxygen KDE Firefox theme (from here [URL]). I then configured the GTK applications to use the oxygen engine and Rhythmbox and GIMP look perfectly OK (i've attached a screenshot at the bottom of my post) however Iceweasel doesn't look completely OK. The problem is that the color scheme of the window is slightly darker than the color scheme of the upper window border - i've attached screenshots of Rhythmbox and Iceweasel so you can compare. I've tried KDE 4.7 with Arch Linux and Firefox there looks OK just like Rhythmbox. It is a small detail but it bugs me...
Fourth - i have problem with the KDE theme for Firefox which i've installed. Without it Iceweasel doesn't look that good. With it, the find menu (activated with ctrl+f) doesn't work - instead of the regular search field just a very small box appears. I've posted a screenshot for that as well.

Software :: Gnome Terminal Is Showing Options In Micro Font
Apr 20, 2010I'm very accustomed to using gnome-terminal. Today, out of the blue, the text that shows the things like menu options is extremely small (not readable) (please see screenshot 1).
This is also the case for my favorite text editor gedit (see screenshot 2)
Does anyone know what is causing this and how I can fix it?
I know how to manipulate the size of the text IN the gnome terminal window [from usage: --zoom=ZOOMFACTOR Set the terminal's zoom factor (1.0 = normal size)] but my problem is with the text of the menu options AND --more importantly-- also of the content of gedit text editor.

Oct 17, 2010I have a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player (software version 2.21.02) which worked almost in a plug and play fashion with Rhythmbox (0.12) on Jaunty (9.04 / i386). Almost : I just had to make sure that Nautilus had not mounted the Zen as an external medium. Otherwise everything worked as expected.
Now I tried to reuse it on my Karmic Koala (amd64) laptop with Rhythmbox (0.12.7). I've been through several posts but nothing seem to make it work properly : If the Zen is unmounted before starting Rhythmbox it will appear in the media column and it will even show the songs; I can drag and drop songs from the Zen to the Rhythmbox Music library (very slow); but I can't play any song directly from the Zen.Any thoughts on how to get it to :
- speed up transfers between the Zen and the Music library
- play songs from the Zen

Hardware :: Micro Innovations Kb400i Keyboard. Fkeys, Left Ctl And Others Don't Work Nor For Bios
Jun 3, 2010now using a micro innovations kb400i turbo-trak keyboard and I can't even access the bios before bootup (f2). It's a standard ps/2 plug and it's gotta a qwerty setup (small backspace with big enter key). So basically the fkeys don't work and the 6 key doesn't work (it does on number lock pad). There are some others that don't work as well. I can't use left ctl to copy and paste which I always use however right ctl works. I'm running absolute linux 13.1.0 fully updated and the keyboard layout was set to u.s.a. and basic by default. I've changed it now to be usa and dvorak but I still gotta reboot. So far I don't know if it's a faulty keyboard or maybe this ones just quirky to setup. According to various websites it's a qwerty keyboard and dvorak is the next closes thing.

Jul 9, 2009The first server I installed installed fine. The second server, installed with the same config, went to "kernel panic not syncing no init found try passing init= option in kernel" error. I tried reinstalling but it keeps going to that error after install reboot. The storage is ISCSI connected via Intel Server Adapter, which allows it to boot from ISCSI. Not sure if that's the cause for the problem, but the first server is connected to the same ISCSI and installed just fine.
Is there a way that I can make sure ISCSI module installs during installation? Although I think it is installed since it's able to copy the files and setup /dev/sda. I just wana make sure that it installs during setup.

CentOS 5 Hardware :: Fresh Install Of Centos Doesnt Display On Whole Screen?
Jun 8, 2009i didnt find a solution to a display problem im having. my server mobo is an asus k8n-dre with built in video. after the install(using built in video) the screen dosnt display fully as in black sections on the left and top of the screen. from the searching i did i found something about an "xrandr" command that would let me change the video settings but it didnt do anything with the black areas when i tried it. i also have a nvidia geforce 9500gt video card so i changed the jumper to boot from it and tried again. the black sections are still there but the centos display covers much more of the screen now. theres still about a third of an inch gap on the left hand side and about 1/4 of an inch on the top. ive also tried updating the software to see if it may be a driver issue but no luck. anyone know how or if it can fit to full sceen? the screen displays up to 1440x900 if im not mistaken but with the built in video it gave me lots of display options including the 1440x900. after changing to the nvidia card it only shows 800x600 and 640x480.

Feb 18, 2010I am trying to install CentOS 5.2, and the installation ran out of disk space after running for about 2 hours.I checked the FAQ, and it said 1.2 GB. The disk is 3 GB. The default install was selected, and I think that it checks for sufficient available disk space before installing. Still, it ran for quite a while before announcing that it was out of disk space.The Installation Guide is not very helpful, since there is a blank page where the disk space requirement is supposed to be. I just picked the default installation. A search of the forums on "not enough disk space" did not return much.
