CentOS 5 :: Exaile Crashes On M4a / Where M4a Plugin?
Feb 24, 2010"Exaile" just crashes when you try to play and m4a song. Does anyone what what the m4a plugin is called and where I can find it? RPM would be nice too.

Nov 5, 2010After update of adobe plugin to version 10.1.102.64 (10.1.r102) plugin crashes if I try to switch to full screen. Previous plugin (10.1.53.64) worked perfectly well. Anybody with the same problem? My system is System76 Gazelle, Ubuntu 8.04 with all latest updates, nvidia drivers.
Additional info:
1. Same effect in Google Chrome, which uses its own plugin 10.1.r103
2. Same effect (both in Firefox and Chrome) on Thinkpad T41 with ubuntu 8.04
I downgraded plugin to r53 for now, but it's not a good idea, last update fixed some security issues.

Dec 4, 2009we are using firefox-3.0.15 from the CentOS-Repository and the adobereader plugin from the adobe-repository. We have a curious problem with adobereader-plugin in firefox.When a pdf document is displayed via the plugin, i.e. within a tab in firefox, all input fields are disabled. I cannot enter a search string or fill in fields. The cursor and page up/down keys are also disabled. But when I configure firefox to open pdf documents with the external acroreader, everything works fine.
Additional notes:* We are just migrating from SuSE. Some user profiles are working as expected without problems. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out the important files: I traced all of firefox' file operations on the user profiles, but there are no significant differences between working and non-working profiles (I just compared filenames, not content).* the same adobe-plugin works with firefox 3.0.15 from mozilla.org* I also set up a clean i386-Centos 5.4 from original CD, SELinux disabled, updated and created standard user. I only added the adobe-repository. The same effect, no search avaible.
CentOS 5 :: Wiki.centos.org Crashes X With Firefox?
Apr 20, 2010I am using CentOS 5 with a couple extra repos; KDE, RPMforge, adobe and a repo provided by Mike A. Harris which has very new Firefox(3.6.3) and other packages. Understandably I am using an, at press time, unsupported version of Firefox. (I use updated packages at Adobe, KDE, and of Firefox for bleeding edge media support and website testing)
Most sites are working fine, including all sites that I have tried at the www.centos.org domain. Wikipedia, Pandora, AOL Mail, Dell, Facebook, Hulu, Google, Linksys, all of the other sites I have built and many more seem to work fine. When directing Firefox to anything on the CentOS wiki X seems to crash (the screen goes blank for a second, it flashes a Console login such as found at ctrl+alt+F1 and the gives me the X login screen) running services are un-interrupted, but all GUI programs close (Firefox and OpenOffice do recover data). I was running yum from a console and it was not interrupted.
Has anyone else had this issue with a newer version of Firefox? Again it is only seeming to affect the CentOS wiki. Not a worry since I only use the wiki for reference configuring my machine, and Konqueror browses it just fine. Anything I should do to help developers and other users? Bug reports? Ideas on how to fix it?

May 18, 2009I have installed flash-plugin from rpmforge, video on flash sites works, but audio doesn't. Similarly neither the audio or mic works in skype. The soundcard is definitely recognised and I can change the levels using alsamixer. Furthermore, sound works in mplayer. Using CentOS 5.3 64bit fully up todate with rpmforge and adobe repositories enabled.

CentOS 5 :: Java Plugin Not Loading Into Firefox?
Jul 8, 2010I have tried everything I can think of to get the Java plugin working on Centos 5.5 and Firefox.I'm using the sun version of Java that I downloaded: jdk-6u18-linux-i586.rpm
I do have it installed already on a seperate partition that survives OS upgrades. Do I need to have the same version of Java in my alternatives dir, or will the Java browser plugin work regardless of which Java is installed on the system? Another way of expressing this: Is the Java browser plugin a standalone application that works independently of the system-installed Java version, or does the browser plugin rely on the installed JRE to function? So I have made a symbolic link from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/@libjavaplugin_oji.so
to my Java plugin, under:
/usr/local/java/jdk1.6.0_18/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
There are actually 2 versions of the Java plugin - which one should I be using?

I take it it's the non-gcc29 version? When I restart Firefox nothing is showing in the about :plugins window.I have disabled all the other mozilla plugins, just in case they are stopping the the Java plugin from loading.

CentOS 5 :: Seamonkey 2.1 / 2.2 Breaks Java Plugin Support?
Jul 11, 2011I'm a long-time user of Seamonkey, from since it was called Mozilla. The recent 2.1 and 2.2 updates seem to have broken Java support on my Centos 5.5 box (32 bits) and I really can't figure this out. Seamonkey is installed in /usr/local. Starting from 2.1, the /usr/local/seamonkey/plugins directory is gone. As per the release notes, plugins are now managed on a per-user basis in $HOME/.mozilla/plugins So far, so good.
I used to have a link in /usr/local/seamonkey/plugins pointing to /usr/local/jre1.6.0_12/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so (I install Sun's JREs in /usr/local too... it shows my BSD background I guess). So I moved that link to $HOME/.mozilla/plugins but now about :plugins doesn't show any Java plugin detected. Worse, $HOME/.mozilla/seamonkey/<profile name>.default/pluginreg.dat shows that the plugin is rejected.

I vaguely suspect that there might be a shared library issue with the newest Seamonkey binaries and Centos 5.5, but then every other plugin works OK, including Flash and all. So what's the issue with the Java plugin? There's no error when I start seamonkey from a terminal window. I must not be the only Seamonkey user on Centos 5.5.

Feb 17, 2011I'm having similar problem to someone else here in the forum (see [URL], but only with the 64 bit version of CentOS 5.5. Almost every time I try to install it, it will crash at some point in the "interactive" startup phase (but it is random). One time, I actually reached the install desktop. I did not attempt an install. I shut the machine down and the system crashed. I haven't been able to get to the install desktop since then.
I have successfully installed CentOS 5.5 32bit, however, on this same machine. In fact, I am writing this from a VM running under CentOS 5.5 32bit on this machine, and do all my work on this machine. I have since upgraded to the latest 2.6.18 kernel with PAE and latest VirtualBox; I have not experienced ANY instability at all with this machine so far. Occasionally, VirtualBox gets an error booting the client, but it has been rare and I've seen this even on older VirtualBox versions on a previous mainboard, so I am not particularly suspicious of that. It is a brand new system, only about a month old. All new parts, except for mostly unused hard drives and drive bays.
