CentOS 5 :: Install Yum-priorities Plugin On A 5.3 Box?

Nov 4, 2009

I'm trying to install yum-priorities plugin on a 5.3 box. Reading the wiki, I understand that this packages is available in the Extras repository. I have Extras enabled in my Centos-Base.repo file. Here is the relevant section:

#additional packages that may be useful
[extras]
name=CentOS-$releasever - Extras
mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=extras

CentOS 5 :: Yum Priorities And Excluded Packages

Oct 21, 2009

I am trying to install the RPMForge Repository. I am following the instructions at : [URL]. After installing yum-priorities and *before* adding the RPMForge repository -
I went into /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo
and added priority=1 to [extras] [updates] and [addons].

Then, when I run 'yum check-update' it says there are packages being excluded. I would have thought that before I had installed the 3rd party repo - that nothing should be excluded? Especially with everything set to the same priority. On a side note - this is a Xen VPS that we are renting... and the providors have commented out the [base] section (#[base])... I'm assuming this is is OK and is for my own protection.

CentOS 5 :: Setting YUM Priorities From Command Line?

Jul 14, 2010

I'm using several 3rd party repos for Centos - RPMforge, ATrpms, EPEL, REMI. Is there some way I can set the priorities for these repos in a bash script, using a YUM command? I cannot find anything in the YUM man page, or the yum-utils package.

Smart PM has a command to set channel priorities from the command line. Wondered if I can do the same for YUM repos?

OpenSUSE Install :: KR46 And Updates Repo Priorities?

Jun 20, 2011

Currently I have the latest stable KDE packages through two repositories:

Code:
KDE-KR46 | .../repositories/KDE:/Release:/46/openSUSE_11.4/
KDE-Extra-KR46 | .../repositories/KDE:/Extra/KDE_Release_46_openSUSE_11.4/
The priorities are:
KR46: 75
Extra-KR46: 85

Now the issue is about the openSUSE 11.4 Updates repo (priority 99). It shows newer packages version than the KR46 repos for some packages, therefore I'm not sure if I have to push Updates repo up in priorities or just forget its update messages an keep the KDE repos as first source.

CentOS 5 :: Centos 5.4, Firefox And Adobereader Plugin, Disabled Input Fields?

Dec 4, 2009

we are using firefox-3.0.15 from the CentOS-Repository and the adobereader plugin from the adobe-repository. We have a curious problem with adobereader-plugin in firefox.When a pdf document is displayed via the plugin, i.e. within a tab in firefox, all input fields are disabled. I cannot enter a search string or fill in fields. The cursor and page up/down keys are also disabled. But when I configure firefox to open pdf documents with the external acroreader, everything works fine.

Additional notes:* We are just migrating from SuSE. Some user profiles are working as expected without problems. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out the important files: I traced all of firefox' file operations on the user profiles, but there are no significant differences between working and non-working profiles (I just compared filenames, not content).* the same adobe-plugin works with firefox 3.0.15 from mozilla.org* I also set up a clean i386-Centos 5.4 from original CD, SELinux disabled, updated and created standard user. I only added the adobe-repository. The same effect, no search avaible.

OpenSUSE :: 11.2 Repository Priorities Being Ignored?

Mar 31, 2010

I have a small question about the repository priorities in 11.2. A couple of months ago I got a new laptop but have noticed that the laptop has not been updating KDE 4.3 whenever I select "Package -> All Packages -> Update if newer version available". I do get some software updates however - it just seems that the KDE repo is being ignored by YAST.

For example, if I search for (say) kde4-greeter I can see in the versions that I have 4.3.5-02.1-x86_64 installed from openSUSE-11.2-update (priority 10).

But kde4-greeter version 4.3.5-18.5-x86_64 from Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.2 (priority 1) is available. It's just not being selected automatically when I do the "Update if newer versions available".

The same thing applies to any software in the KDE repo - they're all being ignored even though that repo has a more important priority. Unless of course I've got it totally wrong and 10 is more important than 1? Dont think so though..

It's not incredibly important - everything is running very nicely here.. But I'm just wondering if I'm missing any security updates or new toys because the KDE repo is being ignored..

For info - all repos are up to date and enabled. I even removed the KDE repo and added it again with a different priority but am still experiencing the same behaviour.

Software :: Document Manager That Can Set Priorities (Ubuntu)?

Apr 4, 2010

Basically I'm looking for an application that can organize documents into groups and give priorities to certain documents. The reason is that I have so many documents I have to read and I just want to divide them into groups and give certain documents priorities over others so I can read them first and the rest later. For now, I'm using naming conventions such as 1_1stdoc.doc 2.2_seconddoc.pdf 2.4_thirddoc.pdf 2.45_4th.pdf 3_5th.pdf etc. Pretty sloppy isn't it? But it works. But it gets really tiring when the collection gets big... Does anyone know of an application that can do such thing?

OpenSUSE :: Package Updates - Repository Priorities And Vendor Change

Jul 19, 2010

I read a few threads about updating packages in opensuse 11.3, and about switching to a repository, but I still don't understand a few things. On earlier versions of opensuse I was used to set the repository priorities in an order that was convenient for me, and when I did an update, the vendor changed if needed.
Now, vendor change is not allowed by default, and I don't understand the right way to handle repositories, and updates. I found out that in Software Managment there is an option to allow vendor change, but I'm not sure that's the right way.

CentOS 5 :: Java Plugin Not Loading Into Firefox?

Jul 8, 2010

I have tried everything I can think of to get the Java plugin working on Centos 5.5 and Firefox.I'm using the sun version of Java that I downloaded: jdk-6u18-linux-i586.rpm

I do have it installed already on a seperate partition that survives OS upgrades. Do I need to have the same version of Java in my alternatives dir, or will the Java browser plugin work regardless of which Java is installed on the system? Another way of expressing this: Is the Java browser plugin a standalone application that works independently of the system-installed Java version, or does the browser plugin rely on the installed JRE to function? So I have made a symbolic link from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/@libjavaplugin_oji.so

to my Java plugin, under:

/usr/local/java/jdk1.6.0_18/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so

There are actually 2 versions of the Java plugin - which one should I be using?

/ns7
/ns7-gcc29

I take it it's the non-gcc29 version? When I restart Firefox nothing is showing in the about :plugins window.I have disabled all the other mozilla plugins, just in case they are stopping the the Java plugin from loading.

CentOS 5 :: Seamonkey 2.1 / 2.2 Breaks Java Plugin Support?

Jul 11, 2011

I'm a long-time user of Seamonkey, from since it was called Mozilla. The recent 2.1 and 2.2 updates seem to have broken Java support on my Centos 5.5 box (32 bits) and I really can't figure this out. Seamonkey is installed in /usr/local. Starting from 2.1, the /usr/local/seamonkey/plugins directory is gone. As per the release notes, plugins are now managed on a per-user basis in $HOME/.mozilla/plugins So far, so good.

I used to have a link in /usr/local/seamonkey/plugins pointing to /usr/local/jre1.6.0_12/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so (I install Sun's JREs in /usr/local too... it shows my BSD background I guess). So I moved that link to $HOME/.mozilla/plugins but now about :plugins doesn't show any Java plugin detected. Worse, $HOME/.mozilla/seamonkey/<profile name>.default/pluginreg.dat shows that the plugin is rejected.

It contains:
[INVALID]
/usr/local/jre1.6.0_12/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so:$
1232187965000:$

I vaguely suspect that there might be a shared library issue with the newest Seamonkey binaries and Centos 5.5, but then every other plugin works OK, including Flash and all. So what's the issue with the Java plugin? There's no error when I start seamonkey from a terminal window. I must not be the only Seamonkey user on Centos 5.5.
