CentOS 5 :: Application Minimized But Icons Not Appear In Taskbar
Nov 22, 2009
When I minimize the applications, the icons do not appear in the taskbar. Why is that so? It was OK in centos5.3. I believe I may have missed out some configurations.
Is there is a way in compiz to open all the minimized windows in the taskbar? Since I want to use the "scale" feature in compiz for all of the windows. As what you already know is that, the "scale" feature only works for the open windows not the minimized ones. So I want a way to open all the minimized windows with a shortcut(using compiz or any thing else) and then use the scale feature again.
when an application is opened or minimized the icon of that particular application is not showing up in the top bar of ubuntu 11.04...how can i see the icons in the top bar?
In my case I have TeamViewer 6 (remote desktop application) opening as one of my Startup applications. I only really need it to run in the background, so I don't need it in my face after logging in.
What I'm looking for is a command line option for opening an application in a minimized state. Is this possible? Or should I start looking into a script to find the window and minimize it?
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and at first there was the icon for Open office quickstart and the icon for network connection. After some updates those two disappeared but I was able to switch off the computer. I have managed to get those two icons back using 'notification area' but the computer will not shutdown now.
I hooked up my computer to a TV via VGA and after I was done my icons moved around on the taskbar. Usually the 'kevin' was on the far right. Is there a way to change it back?
Quite often, at start after I shut down my latptop, my taskbar is completely empty and inactive. I can't right-click on it and add anything. The rest is working fine: shortcuts work, terminal works, software works through terminal, sticky notes are opened
I really like the way the Windows 7 taskbar icons looks. I'm looking for a way to make the taskbar icons bigger without increasing the taskbar size itself. I'm also looking for a way to show the icons only, without any text beside.
I'm running Xubuntu 11.04 64bit for the first time. It's very nice. But how do I remove the mail icon off the taskbar? When I right click it want to remove the whole launcher, and I don't want to do that.
I am running openSUSE 11.2 GNOME on a Toshiba P3 laptop. Lately after logging in all I see is a green desktop without any icons or even the taskbar at the bottom. I have to reboot and choose the fail-safe boot option, logout then log back in. This is a very annoying and recurring problem
I think I accidentally pressed a key and then my desktop icons and my taskbar vanished.I've tried everything but I can't fix it. My cursor does not move off the screen so I don't think it is a resolution problem.I'm running Ubuntu 10.10I've had some similar problems in the past but with a single restart of the computer the problem solved itself
I've downloaded VideoLan (VLC) via Yast but the icon was placed in the audio folder. How do I move it to the video player folder? Also, where are additional icons stored? I run SuSE 11.2 (boxed version) with KDE.
I really like the new, MacOS-like icons in the taskbar. The problem is that if I change the icon theme (to something else than the themes present in ubuntu by default;e the Shiki-Wise theme) the nice icons in the taskbar are gone too. Is there a way of keeping those?
How do you turn off the Labels in the TaskBar that are next to your Running Applications? You know, to basically make it look like Windows 7 where you only see the Icons.I'm running openSuse 11.3 with the KDE 4.4 desktop
I was want to know how can one move application tabs in KDE around the taskbar, I can do this in XFCE-taskbar, but in KDE it doesn't seem to work, I just grab it and try to move right, but it doesn't move), well, does anybody know where you can setup this? Such a simple function and no, not working?
When I launch an app I get a little icon next to the Ubuntu logo which when pressed takes me back to the launcher but I have seemed to removed those little icons that let you switch between running apps, does anyone know how I get it back? I have tried:Window List/Picker/Selector but none of them look the same as what was there by default.
I am having a problem with a particular application not showing in the GNOME taskbar in Ubuntu 10.10 x64.The application is Novell Groupwise, a Java-based e-mail client. It does, however show when I press ALT-TAB to bring up the window switcher. It also shows in "The GNOME Panel" (desktop switcher) when it is in the foreground. All other applications correctly display in the task bar (Window List)
Am trying to run Ubuntu from the CD on a Dell Latitude D800 laptop that a friend gave me. A Suse Linux installation is currently on the laptop and appears to run OK and its desktop looks normal with normal buttons and icons.
The Ubuntu boot from the CD appears to run normally but all the icons and buttons on the desktop and the taskbar appear fuzzy/fragmented (that's the best way I can describe it). The menu texts appear normally. Otherwise the system seems to work normally. I can select menu items and they do what they should do, etc. I've tried fiddling with the screen resolution but that doesn't improve anything. I've tried the installation with 10.1 and 10.04LTE but the result is the same: fuzzy icons and buttons.
I install suse 11.4 (KDE) in my lap top. The problem is that the taskbar shows all the application from all 4 desktop. I want to restrict to taskbar to show the application of its own desktop only, not that of other desktops.
I have installed and removed @kde-desktop and then re-installed k3b,, There is no longer an icon associated in the menu system now. Is there an icon pack or a kde pack that needs installed?
I am reasonably experienced with Fedora 15 - having used two systems upgraded from Fedora 14. I had a strange problem with a brand-new Dell Vostro 3550 laptop with clean a Fedora 15 x86-64 installation. I chose to download the boot image and install from the network. I selected packages for software development without customizing anything. The installation went on smoothly. Once I started using the system, I used yum to install several additional packages. Strangely the icons for these applications seem to be missing.Screenshot1 shows that both Thunderbird and Remmina (for remote desktop) icons shown generic icon.Screenshot2 shows the Default Applications tab in the System Info where Thunderbird does not have an icon.
Does something like this exist?[URL]..I don't like much the default alt+tab application switcher. I would like to delete the bottom panel and leave only the upper menu. I would like an alt+tab app switcher similar to that one, icons instead preview of windows plus icons, and when there are windows group show them in the arrow. Then colors, for example blue for the window where you are and yellow if the window wants to highlight due a change or something.
How do I add new icons into the Application menu (not the launcher) and into the "Ubuntu" menu with the large icons? I have tried using the "Main Menu" tool to add new things but they don't appear.
The icons for my running applications have disappeared from the bottom menu bar.Did I forget to pay my dues or, more likely, what stupid thing have I done?
No applications will show in my system tray anymore except the defaults. I've checked the entries and touching those had no effect. In fact, the programs I lost the icons too were in the entries, under "system tray settings" and so I set them to all always show. After doing so the applications actually disappeared from my entries entirelSome of my applications open up directly to the tray and I can't get to them at all anymore! They were all working previously until I moved my panels around.
