I am using Centos5.4
My applications, after minimized, seems to disappear from the desktop.
I can still access them using Alt-Tab.
In the taskbar setting, I have enabled "Show Application icons". But that does not make the icons appear
in the taskbar after minimized.
Any suggestions to show my minimized icons in taskbar?
When I minimize the applications, the icons do not appear in the taskbar. Why is that so? It was OK in centos5.3. I believe I may have missed out some configurations.

As what you already know is that, the "scale" feature only works for the open windows not the minimized ones. So I want a way to open all the minimized windows with a shortcut(using compiz or any thing else) and then use the scale feature again.

I have managed to get those two icons back using 'notification area' but the computer will not shutdown now.

However I also want to put folders on these taskbars where the NAME of the folder is shown with the folder icon and not just when the mouse hovers over it. In other words, I want to be able to determine what the folder is just by looking at it. Sometimes, on attempting to login, the screen resets and I'm brought back to the login screen (though I know I have the right login information). The only way around is to restart. Also, sometimes when I do finally get in, my taskbars won't even appear.The machine is an HP workstation x1100 with Pentium 4 and fairly old graphics card (using AGP). Is the computer just not compatible with linux?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAm trying to run Ubuntu from the CD on a Dell Latitude D800 laptop that a friend gave me. A Suse Linux installation is currently on the laptop and appears to run OK and its desktop looks normal with normal buttons and icons.
The Ubuntu boot from the CD appears to run normally but all the icons and buttons on the desktop and the taskbar appear fuzzy/fragmented (that's the best way I can describe it). The menu texts appear normally. Otherwise the system seems to work normally. I can select menu items and they do what they should do, etc. I've tried fiddling with the screen resolution but that doesn't improve anything. I've tried the installation with 10.1 and 10.04LTE but the result is the same: fuzzy icons and buttons.

My problem, however, is that on the current version of GNOME that I am running in Squeeze, when I click on "Appearances", there is no "Interface" tab! What do I do about this? Certain icons are missing because of this.
I'm using KDE 4.3.4 with the Desktop Folder View. Some reason my bottom panel show only half of the icon programs i have open. Any ideas how to fix it? I would like for the open programs icon in the panel to show full view.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I add something to my desktop, if something with the same name has been on my desktop previously (like 'screenshot.png'), it will go to where it was previously, which sometimes causes the icons to overlap and what not.
I just wanted to know if it was possible to make the icons always go to the first open place.
I don't know what could be causing it, but my Icons from the panel sometimes won't show the whole icon, sometimes it show two icons overlapping each other, I was hoping it would be that I should have set the Panel size according to a "better" and standard Icons size, but that did'nt solve the problem as I changed to 48px; does anyone have a clue what could be causing it?

My file manager keeps on opening in the taskbar and it will not stop, but no application comes up, only in the taskbar. No icons will show up on my desktop either. When I go to open up the file manager, nothing comes up. Even when I try nautilus or sudo nautilus nothing happens. I read on another forum to use gconf-editor and nothing fixed it. What do I do? I need to have my computer fixed for school. I am running Ubuntu x86 64-bit on a HP Pavilion tx2500z laptop.

Just now i downloaded Ubuntu 10.10 beta editionI don't know how to unhide the Computer, Home, and Trash desktop icons in GNOME. I already tried gconf-editor -> apps -> nautilus -> desktopCheked the box beside computer_icon_visible, home_icon_visible, and trash_icon_visible. I already tried it in Ubuntu 10.04 without success.
