I know ubuntu will choose the best server for you by ping value, but it's not give you the ping value list.
For some reason, I don't want to use the server ubuntu choose.
Are there any method/software can show the speed list of ubuntu repository servers?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI load up Package Manager in Fedora, select 'Fonts' on the left so as to show all Fedora repository font packages, and then see all the individual font packages available for installation. I am looking for a range of fonts for my documents (some artistic, some not, I'm not sure exactly what I want), and so I want to view a sample of the font in each package eg. 'The quick brown fox jumps over...' written in the font.
After selecting a font package in PackageManager, I can click on the 'Homepage' link and go to possibly see a sample of the font. But this 'Homepage' clicking has to be done manually for each font package, over and over, for possibly hundreds of font packages!!! Where can I find a single long webpage (possibly divided into categories) which has short samples of all Fedora repository fonts?? A page I can scan down quickly to find the fonts I like.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to linux. I am trying to install suse 11.3 on my desktop which has following configuration:
Intel Pentium 4 processor 32 bit
512 mb RAM
80 gb Hard Disk
I made a 20gb partition on my hard disk and formatted it as fat32 for installing suselinux on it. I changed my boot priority and booted the system from the bootable dvd. The problems are:
1). Message is displayed telling to ensure that cd 1 is in the drive. I cannot make out what this means when the dvd is already in the drive. If I press ok same message keeps coming if I press back following occurs.
2). The installation starts and asks for language and keyboard type. Then it asks me to specify the hard disk and then a message is displayed that it cannot find repository.
I have installed RHEL 6 and registered it. I want to install

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to update four OpenSUSE 10.3 servers. This worked once on one server, but I have been unable to repeat that success. I use yast's Online Update to select repositories, but at the end of the repository refresh they keep coming back with 'No active update source is available. Exit Online Update now?' I get this error:
Download failed: File /repodata/repomod.xml not found on media: [URL]
It appears to connect to remote repositories, but always fails. Is it realistic for me to expect to update 10.3, or is it a lost cause? I am not ready to jump to 11 yet, but I am required to update them. I am a newb, so I am not clear on the process. Are package versions locked in place for specific versions of OpenSUSE? If so, how can I find out what the final versions were for 10.3 so that I can at least tell my auditors that they are as up-to-date as they can be?

Today I installed Fedora12 from the DVD, so this is my first contact with all of you. The last years I ran very well with gentoo, but the time for system maintenance got to big the last few times I updated the system, so I decided to change and here am I. The Problem: My system is newly installed from the DVD and I was trying to run the first update, but got the following errormassage by KPackageKit:

It occured after informing me about the amount of packages that need to be updated and a message about some dependencies that have to be newly installed. At the moment I'm a bit lost about what to do. Also I realy don't know which system-information would be useful - let me know and I will answer.
