View 9 RepliesThe systems says that it cannot automatically update, so I have to do an Auotomatically update. Error details shows:
Code:
PackageKit Error repo-not-available: Failed to download /repodata/repomd.xml from [URL] I press "Start Yast and install updated manually" buttton Enter my root password
And a Window appears displaying:
Code:
ERROR
Download Failed:
Failed to download /repodata/repomd.xml from http://packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/11.2. History
- [AbstractCommand cc:224] URI=http://packman.iu-bremen/suse/11.2/repodata/repomd.xml
I'm having a problem with the Packman repository lately. First, I added the Packman repo using a Germany mirror link. Everything worked fine until I decided to switch the repository URL to the standard Packman one [URL] instead of a mirror. Then I started getting an error while refreshing repositories:
Code:
Error refreshing service Packman Repository (http://packman.inode.at/suse/11.3/packman.repo): Parse error: repoindex.xml[1] Document is empty
Quite frustratingly, for some reason zypper has made the Packman repo invisible and I can't see it anywhere (not in Yast Software Repositories or in the /etc/zypp/repos.d folder. Yet, it still tries to use that repository when refreshing, and obviously gives me an error in the process. how to completely remove all traces of this Packman repo from my system so I can start anew? (aside from an OS reinstall?)
Okay I finally decided to install openSUSE and I have a few questions. First and biggest, how do I add the packman repository as one repo? and will doing so add tumbleweed?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was wondering on the updater service slowly over time installing packages overtop packman packages.
For example, some multimedia guides mention to switch all packages to a certain repository like packman. At some point afterwards system updates will overwrite these.
I don't fully understand how updates work, however, is it needed or possible to set a rule for which repos are used as a reference for system updates?
I have these supposed missing 64 bit libs for everything on my main computer. I keep getting the following type messages whilst trying to get things working on a fresh 11.3 install on my test box. All these 64 bit things were installed on it before I wiped it and did a fresh install. I got it when I installed the codecs for gstreamer/kaffeine as well but went ahead and installed. Where did the 64 bit stuff go? I even changed packman mirrors.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI must be slacking not knowing what is going on here. But does anyone know why VLC was pulled form packman 11.4?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've noticed the Packman mplayer's ffvorbis doesn't seem to be working on 11.2 (x86)-any vorbis seems to be decoded as very quiet noise that roughly matches the sound that ought to be made. Audio output (-ao) doesn't make any difference, and I've the same problem on three different machines. Xine, vlc, ffplay, etc. all work, as does -afm tremor (the reference decoder) with mplayer. The verbose output from mplayer seems to be the same between these systems and an older 11.0 system with a not-very-recently-upgraded version of mplayer. Unfortunately, packman does not keep old versions of packages, and compiling mplayer is somewhat of a chore, so it is not immediately easy to test an old version of MPlayer on 11.2 for me.
I'm using the samples from Vorbis.com: Music to test with, so I assume there is nothing peculiar about the files.
Is anyone successfully using current (1.0rc2_r29796) Packman MPlayer to play either vorbis .oggs or video with vorbis audio on 11.2? If so, was it a fresh install or an upgrade system? Architecture? Etc.-I've run out of machines to easily test on, and it doesn't work on any of them.
I realize that this is better-addressed to the Packman mailing list, but very few users seem to read it, and for whatever reason, the packagers never seem to have any problems with their own packages (even when they are clearly broken for many others); so I thought I would give it a try here first.
I downloaded it from packman and it's not working. I tried loading some old projects from when I was working Cecilia in Xandros, but they don't load. I tried loading .wav and .aiff files, but they don't load. Unfortunately, this app is useless, but it worked perfectly in Xandros (which is useless). Is there a particular repository I should be tapping instead of packman for Cecilia/Csound? Maybe this app is just plain outdated.

I have to keep changing back to Packman packages because updates changes vendor all the time....is there a way to switch to Packman packages and have it stay that way? Any zypper settings?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI run XBMC 10.1 (packman version) on openSUSE 11.4 x86_64. After a normal package update (zypper up) last weekend, I can't play none of my DVD folders (VIDEO_TS structure) anymore. When selecting a movie to play nothing happens (XBMC log file message "WARNING: could not find codec parameters for /path_to_movie/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO"). AVIs still play fine. I reproduced the problem on my laptop too: After the following updates the problem occurs:
Code:
2011-06-26 15:51:35|remove |libavcore0|0.6.25702svn-1.pm.3.8|i586|root@fsc.dimplemania

I'm trying to convert my flac files to mp3 to play on my portable player, however it is not appending the tags that are on the flac files to the converted mp3 files. However, I thought that pacpl was supposed to support this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter installing openSUSE 11.2 everything worked well (instead of wlan working not continuously, but that's not the topic). Now my computer stopped registering the camera (it's a Canon Power Shot A540). I already tried to add it with gphoto in digiKam - the automatic search did not find it - after a manual registration gphoto could not connect to it (although it was plugged and switched on). The order lshal dumped 103 devices from the global Device List The order lshal -m started monitoring device list, but comes to no end
fdisk -l shows me my hard drive with all particions plus a mobile hard drive (connected via USB) but no camera (it's still plugged and turned on) after many hours and reading of many forum threads I don't know any further - can anybody help me find the solution for my prob?
Downloaded 11.2 64bit. Burned the ISO. Tried to install. It works fine, until it probes for the repositories, but cannot find them. I tried on two machines with three different dvd drives.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have installed this program ok but I am new to command lines in terminal.
I want to convert some wav files to wma files. I have the wav files currently in a folder called Test to make it easy. So I have entered the following command line:
ajpearson@ajpearson-laptop:~/Desktop/pacpl-4.0.5$ pacpl --to wma home/ajpearson/Desktop/Test and the error message I get is:
error: the following is not a file or directory: home/ajpearson/Desktop/Test
It does not matter what directory I use I get the same error. I am sure the answer is obvious - but not t me.
I am new to linux. I am trying to install suse 11.3 on my desktop which has following configuration:
Intel Pentium 4 processor 32 bit
512 mb RAM
80 gb Hard Disk
I made a 20gb partition on my hard disk and formatted it as fat32 for installing suselinux on it. I changed my boot priority and booted the system from the bootable dvd. The problems are:
1). Message is displayed telling to ensure that cd 1 is in the drive. I cannot make out what this means when the dvd is already in the drive. If I press ok same message keeps coming if I press back following occurs.
2). The installation starts and asks for language and keyboard type. Then it asks me to specify the hard disk and then a message is displayed that it cannot find repository.
I want to clean my system out of old packages. I can use rpmorphan to find orphaned packages, but how do I find packages that are not longer present in their vendor repository?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to update four OpenSUSE 10.3 servers. This worked once on one server, but I have been unable to repeat that success. I use yast's Online Update to select repositories, but at the end of the repository refresh they keep coming back with 'No active update source is available. Exit Online Update now?' I get this error:
Download failed: File /repodata/repomod.xml not found on media: [URL]
It appears to connect to remote repositories, but always fails. Is it realistic for me to expect to update 10.3, or is it a lost cause? I am not ready to jump to 11 yet, but I am required to update them. I am a newb, so I am not clear on the process. Are package versions locked in place for specific versions of OpenSUSE? If so, how can I find out what the final versions were for 10.3 so that I can at least tell my auditors that they are as up-to-date as they can be?
I'm using Kaffeine 1.0-svn3 from Packman repo on openSuse 11.2 with KDE 4.3.5. In Kaffeine, I can not find the menu where I can choose the subtitles. (I want to watch an avi-file with a separate subtitle-file in srt format). With openSuse 11.0, KDE 3.5.8. and an older version of Kaffeine, there was a possibility to select subtitle files (srt).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI checked for updates today and noticed that the Packman repository have switched to the new forked FFmpeg library: LibAV. This include gstreamer and other dependent libraries.
VLC runs without a problem but i wonder what other applications depending on FFmpeg will not run...
It looks like FFmpeg was removed from the repository.
well i did a fresh install of opensuse 11.2 64 bit i was trying to install the nvidia repo and packman repo.usually i get this by adding them form community repo's from repo management.but today i am unable to add them. i did not get those repos in the list there.whats might be the problem??
View 2 Replies View RelatedEverytime since yesterday (friday, March, the 4th), when automatic updates appears on my screen, a message is displayed:
PackageKit Error repo-not-available: Failed to download /repodata/repomd.xml from [URL]
Do I have to remove that package from my repositorie list ?
this is in part a *****. The Yast2 firewall interface is inferior. Firestarter and Guarddog are much better - but they are not in the packman list of stuff you can install because you like it better. How many of you care to offer an opinion as to why these other firewall apps are NOT packaged for openSUSE installation?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just done a clean install of OS 11.2 x86_64, KDE 4.3.1, and got the following message from RPM while installing multimedia support files from Packman using zypper on the command line:
Code:
warning: /var/cache/zypp/packages/ftp.skynet.be-suse/noarch/rpmkey-packman-0.3.8-1.pm.1.1.noarch.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 9a795806 Similar messages were coming up while installing other packages through Yast, and I'm wondering what the issue is. All of the messages were about the "key ID" at the end of the example line. (Everything is working so I'm not sure if this is a problem or not.)
I'd like to make a local repo of Packman openSUSE 11.2 x86_64 repo. Should I download all of the following folders? And what will be an approximate size of this download?

I know the packman people don't pay attention to these forums. How do you request they update to Deluge 1.3.0 which is the current stable version for 11.3? Where do you go that they pay attention to?
I don't know how to package this myself so really don't need to be told how to do it.
It seems that 11.1 is not supported anymore. Can you confirm that ?I know, i need time to test a new system to replace it.Meanwhile, i try to update the packman packages and it cannot. It says :error: /var/cache/zypp/packages/Packman/.../somethin.rpm : Header V4 RSA/SHA1 signature: BAD, key ID 1abd1afb
