View 7 Replies View RelatedOk let's say I have Apache Webservers on 2 different machines within my network, I have http://outterABC.com setup at dyndns.org to point to my modem at home, and my router forwards Port 80 to the ServerA Machine (i.e. 192.168.0.3). I can access my webpage I setup for the Server A Machine.
But what I want to try and do is somehow access my ServerB machine's website that is on my same network. I tried something like this http://ServerB.outterABC.com and the apache page came up with something like the page wasn't available. I want to access the content of the ServerB website, but because I have only one router, i can only forward Port 80 site traffic to my ServerA machine's website. I'm sure it's a different syntax I should use but i'm just not sure what I should enter to bring up the apache root web page for the Server B website via http://outterABC.com
I tried setting up DNS A records on ServerA, but I don't think it will work with what i'm trying to do above.

I have compiled a simple c++ program and made an exe file in my computer (i686). now, I want to use on another computer(i586). It gives me " floating point exception" error!I know I should make an exe file compatible with i586, but how? View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently decided to make a foray into the world of servers without any knowledge or experience. Yesterday, I ordered a Dell t110. I understand this is a really low-end server but I think it will work for home use. I am on a budget and literally just ordered the box. No keyboard. No mouse. No monitor. Not even an additional hard drive! With the exception of SLIGHTLY upgrading the processor, the thing is basically stock.
My question is this: Can I control and operate this server with my laptop somehow? Will that allow me to install Ubuntu Server as well as perform systems administration tasks? Ultimately, I'd like to get a new flat screen for the living room and have that be the monitor, with a wireless keyboard and mouse. However, like I said... I'm on a budget. I don't think I can sell my wife on that one right away. So... in the meantime, I need a way to actually USE my server.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a setup with a mythtv backend that streams media via the built in upnp to two xbox 360s. This works perfect at the moment. However I need a command/script that can identify if either of the two xbox's are connected via upnp. I need this so that I can have the system auto shutdown if no one is connected using the existing mythtv sleep wake features. (Basically if a script returns 1 then dont shutdown if returns 0 then shutdown.)

I want to install ubuntu server on an old pc and use it in my home office. However, I'll have to borrow a monitor to do the instillation... when I'm done I'll have to return it. Is there a way to monitor/manage the sever by using my web browser, free of cost?
Also seeing that I'm not so savvy with commands should I install the desktop interface?
When I try to login to my Ubuntu Server, I get the following error:
PAM Failure, aborting: Critical error - immediate abort
This occurs when I try to log in locally, or via SSH. I have tried logging in using every account and all create the same error. Ubuntu server edition 11.
So I have an Ubuntu server setup but my modem from my ISP only has one ethernet port so I have to run my server behind a router. I have been able to get the sever viewable to everyone outside of my network but when someone is inside my network they have to view the server by the direct IP the web address doesnt work nor does the actual static IP. I believe this is something to do with my router not being able to loopback. It is a belkin N600 DB.

There is a driver associated and it is loaded in the kernel. Alsa even lists it when it reloads, So... I'm new to alsa since sound generally just works on desktop versions, however I am well adjusted with the terminal so feel free to ask for whatever output you need.
My boss asked me to convert the company's web server (running on ubuntu 10.04 server LTS and using CMSME for the website),and the company's router directs the domain to that machine.The webserver is getting old (P3) and the server just freeze every morning and require a manual reboot most mornings.
He wants me to convert the ubuntu server to a virtual machine and host it on a ESXi server. For the past few week (im working part-time so not everyday), trying different ways to host the webserver.I tried using the VMware Converter 4.0 to the ESXi server (That didn't work)I tried using Acronis Echo workstation to create a image and trying to convert it using the VMware converter (The ESXi console says Error Operating System)
When I'm logged in, physically on the server as root and logout the lines doesn't get cleared like when you logout as a normal user. This could be a bug and if it is, it could be a security problem. The last actions done shows.

I've recently bought a nice little HP LaserJet 1200, which was easy to configure and setup locally. However I wish to share the printer throughout the house with up to three/four Windoze machines.
I think it would be best to set this up perhaps using IPP rather than Samba, as I can't seem to get any of the Windows machines in the house to see my SUSE Box, shame really, seeing as it's superior ha ha

i have a dell server. its a couple of years old and has a perc 4 raid controller in it. When i do an install it shows the drives configured in the raid 5 configuration. i select the disk and do an auto partition. It goes for about 10min then errors with "error formatting drive volgoup00 the error is serious occurred press enter to reboot" or something like that can remember all the words. It doesn't give any info about the error.
i get the same error on centOs 5.5 and Ubuntu server 10.10
There is a firmware update for the raid controller that i could apply but dell's site was not letting me download it yesterday. Other than that I am not sure what to do. I could try an older version of CentOS 5.4 but i figure someone might tell me how to fix this so i can run the newest version.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhi i've searched the forums and haven't found anyting, so i'm posting. Linux SuSe 10. not sure of exact version. The remote desktop will not connect to windows server 2008. I'm assuming that i need to update rdesktop. So i go the Novell Add-on manager and point it to my ftp server with the extracted rdesktop files in the driectory. I can see the linux desktop accessing the folder with the files but a get an error. How do i install the new rdesktop using ftp and the Novell Add-on manager? it seams that the add-n manager is lookikng for a file listing the add-ons.

I have searched for similar threads including this thread, but the responses do not seem to have solved the problem. All I want is to call sendmail from Perl, to post myself the responses to a test form I am building, using my normal internet mail address. I do not want to receive or relay mail from any host except the web server itself (127.0.0.1).
I have edited sendmail.mc to define SMART_HOST as my isp's mail server and MASQUERADE_AS to be my local network name (which is not a registered domain - it is just the name I have given my home intranet). I have run make and built a fresh sendmail.cf, then restarted sendmail.
Using my form, I am able to submit the message to sendmail, but after 40 seconds the mail log shows a message
