I'm not sure if this is the correct category, but none of the others seemed appropriate. I'm having problems getting multiple usb devices to play nicely together. I'm using the following usb devices:
ralink rt2870 usb wireless
Logitech wireless keyboard - K350
Logitech wireless mouse M305[code]/.....
Does anyone know of a variant on the Logitech SetPoint software (it allows more functions for Logitech keyboards and mice) for Ubuntu? Would the Windows version work in Wine? I didn't think it would because the app uses Bluetooth, and I don't know if Wine can do that.

I managed to get NFS working and switch root and do normal RH /sbin/init, but as RH boots it complains about /proc/devices missing:/proc/devices: fopen failed: No such file or directoryThe file is indeed missing, even though I'm doing "modprobe dm_mod" before. But still /proc/devices is not created. What am I doing wrong?init script for that initrd.img:

Steps
a. Working Gnome desktop with NVidia proprietary drivers in Jessie.
b. Something happened (see below)
c. Still working Gnome desktop with NVidia proprietary drivers in Jessie.
d. Reboot
e. Boot up in low res -can see the terminal messages but no X/ Gnome Desktop
f. CtrlAlt-F1 takes to terminal login
g. Log in, looked at dmesg, syslog shows no errors but looking at Xorg.[0-5].log shows:

After looking at this post [URL] .... poked around at the back of the monitor and found the DVI cable loose. Plugged it in tight and rebooted and Gnome desktop came up as good as ever.
Step b. , as it turns out, was someone had adjusted the monitor height resulting in the DVI cable coming loose but not getting pulled out entirely.
I installed Fedora 12 and performed the normal updates. Now I can't reboot and get the following console error message.

Boot has failed, sleeping forever.
Booting up this morning, no problem. But I accidentally let my laptop go into suspend mode, which doesn't work, so I had to force a restart (Suspend mode on my laptop won't allow me to wake it up again). Now, on rebooting, X doesn't work. I usually boot to RL3 then use startx. Now it just flashes the screen then gives me this error -

If I su - to root and then do "init 4", I get to xdm, and I can log in. X then starts, but with no sound, wrong keymaps, launchers not working; all sorts of things wrong. If I startx as root I get a normal desktop. I have tried copying root's xinitrc to /home/spoovy, but makes no difference.
I have 3 accounts setup on this machine. One is root, one is my own, and one is for my kids. My account and root work fine, but today when I tried to log my kids on, startx fails (it also fails from runlevel4). I have tried creating new accounts and they fail as well. I'm not sure when the issue started, but it's been less than a week I believe. The consistent error which I receive is

After tweeking some graphics settings, and replacing some hardware, ubuntu won't boot. Being left in the X session (CTRL + ALT + f7), it's what looks like a log:

^ and that's where it hangs. So I went into ctrl alt f1, and logged in with my user/pass, and did the command: startx the screen flashes, and brings me back to a failed to open devices report.

I tried re-installing GDM, but turns out that the PC isn't actually online, hence unable to install GDM after uninstallation. So I downloaded the gdm .deb, and tried to install it from a USB flash drive, but I get dependency errors. I'm at a loss here, I could really use some help, this is the PC that has all my data on it, 450 GB +, I'd love to not have to transfer that over to a new installation!
I'm working on a server and noticed that the to RAID5 setup is showing 4 Raid devices but only 3 Total devices. It's on a fully updated CentOS 5 system that only has three SATA drives, as it can not hold anymore. I've done some researching but am unable to remove the fourth device, which is listed as removed. The full output of `mdadm -D /dev/md2` can be see below. I've never run into this situation before.Anyone have any pointers on how I can reduced the Raid Devices from 4 to 3? I have tried
mdadm /dev/md2 -r failed
mdadm /dev/md2 -r detached
but neither work and since there is no block device listed I'm not quite sure how to get things back in sync so it's only seeing the three drives.

It used to work fine but now I am experiencing some problems.When I start up my PC WITHOUT my spare wired keyboard plugged in, does not type more than one character -I mean only one character- after a random number of key presses (50-100 or more).However, if I start up my PC WITH my spare USB keyboard plugged in, my MX5000 works perfectly.Bluetooth (on) has recognized, installed and connected the keyboard. How can this be? I don't think, that it needs additional drivers, it's working fine in the BIOS etc.

It worked with 9.10 and 9.04 fine out of the box, but i upgraded my computer to the new version and suddenly it wont work at all. I have tried pairing it with the bluetooth manager to no avail. Did some research and i believe the problem is it wont switch over to CVS mode or something which would let it also work in the bios.

The problem is that volume of the device is very low and I can't hear the music or any sound like I use to heard. Even if I increase the volume up to 100%, I still hearing the sound with a very low volume. But if I use the analog output of my sound card I can hear very well. I remember that i used to have this problem in ubuntu 9.10 but I fixed with a script that I found it in this forum, but I can't find it again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two computers--a Zareason machine (no details yet) running 8.04. I also have a Dell 1525N laptop running 9.10. I purchased recently a Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Webcam. The video works on both systems with Ekiga and Cheese. I can also see the video in Flash applications (but *not* in Meebo even with the other person logged into Meebo). (Both computers are running the latest Flash plugins).
However, the built-in microphone is problematic. With 8.04, I get playback when I test it under System|Preferences|Sound--but with lots of echo. But I get no sound with any Flash chat applications. I've not been able to test it with Ekiga as the testee (a Windows 7 user) can't get Ekiga to work on his machine (probable Windows firewall issues). I haven't installed Skype because Skype pulled its 8.04-compliant .deb packages and I've not tried yet to compile it from source code.
With 9.10, the webcam works with Cheese (video) and I can get both webcam and mic to work with Skype. (Again, no test result possible for Ekiga until I get a testee). However--my Win7 testee friend says that when I log into Googlechat using Pidgin on my 9.10 laptop, a webcam icon appears next to my userID telling him that I have an open webcam (even when there's NONE actually plugged in). He doesn't see the same icon when I log into my 8.04 desktop with no webcam plugged in. I have searched Pidgin and my System preferences and see no evidence that any of these applications or my system sees a webcam that's not there.
So--how to get the mic to work? (I am thinking the simplest answer will be to simply upgrade my desktop to Lucid). And also, why the webcam icon in Googlechat even when no webcam is plugged in on my 9.10 laptop??
My goal is to be able to use my gamepad as a normal mouse, and also have some of the keys configured to open certain programs or do other things. Does anyone have any advice on what I need to install or if this is possible?

The device used is a "Logitech G27 Force Feedback Racing Wheel", which also has three pedals and a clutch, both connected to the steering wheel device itself and then to the pc using an usb connector.For i'd love to use ubuntu to connect that input controller, i'd like to know, if it is possible to read that devices inputs to the system using ubuntu linux. Important: It is not necessary to have a working driver that could be used in any games (e.g. TORCS), i only have to get the controller's outputs [and maybe set force feedback].I already did some searches on the www, but failed in finding any appropriate information on this topic.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust found my old Logitech webcam again, and tried to get it to work on 10.04. Somehow this doesn't work. I tried searching the forum, but did not get an answer to my situation.
Here is what I can see:
After connecting (or rebooting), dmesg shows the following lines

And that's it. No message that cam was registered to /dev/video<x>. I should add that I already have another cam (Philips) that works and is registered to /dev/video0, and I also installed a Hauppauge PVR350 card that also gets registered to various /dev/video<y> files. Why the Logitech cam won't register? I'm guessing I can't do anything until this cam has its own /dev/video<x>, right?

I upgraded recently to Ubuntu 11.04 and have been trying unsuccessfully since to use an old webcam: Logitech Quickcam Messenger. The system doesn't recognize it at all as far as I can tell, which it did on 10.10 (I didn't really use it then, I just remember I could get a picture at some point.
