Ubuntu :: Logitech MX5000 Not Typing?

Jun 5, 2010

I'm having a very strange problem with my Logitech MX5000. It used to work fine but now I am experiencing some problems. When I start up my PC WITHOUT my spare wired keyboard plugged in, does not type more than one character -I mean only one character- after a random number of key presses (50-100 or more). However, if I start up my PC WITH my spare USB keyboard plugged in, my MX5000 works perfectly.Bluetooth (on) has recognized, installed and connected the keyboard. In fact, now, I am typing this message on MX5000 -with the wired keyboard connected to the PC.

Ubuntu :: Disable Touch Pad While Typing

Jun 27, 2010

Where is the "disable touch pad while typing" preference stored and how can I alter it without using the GUI?I have written a script to disable my touch pad, but if the "disable touch pad while typing" preference is on it the touch pad will reactivate its self after I type. Clearly the "disable touch pad while typing" preference must be stored somewhere, if someone could tell me where I could alter my script to disable the preference along with my touch pad.

I'm having trouble typing in ubuntu on my macbook because my palms sometimes touch the trackpad while I'm typing. I've seen a ton of posts about how to disable the trackpad when a USB mouse is connected, but I just want to write a scripthat I can run to unconditionally disable the trackpad and turn it back on. I don't care if it requires an extra keystroke or even if I have to write 2 scripts - one to turn it off and another to turn it on.

Ubuntu :: 10.10 Hangs Unless Typing Or Moving Cursor?

Nov 14, 2010

I've used Ubuntu for a year or two on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1440), but with the release and install of 10.10, whenever I'm not moving the cursor or typing, it freezes up. I can get it to unfreeze by typing/moving cursor usually.I dual boot between Ubuntu and Mint and it also does this on Mint 10. When I would reboot, the hanging would stop for awhile, but would come back 10 - 20 minutes later. It would continue until I rebooted again. Clearly I can't use 10.10, which is a huge bummer for me.

I can be halfway through a sentence before the letters actually show up. And when scrolling down a page, it will just stop and then pick back up a few seconds later - but not where it left it. It picks back up as if it had been scrolling the whole time.I am running Ubuntu 10.04 with Firefox 3.6.13 and it does this on two desktops and two laptops.

Am I missing something here? Also is there any fix for the click and drag issues? Most of what I've read on the forum here is old and the apt-get for the packages mentioned gives me a "file unavailable" error. Ubuntu :: Run A Script That Needs Root Privileges Without Typing In The Password?

Mar 25, 2011

I'm trying to run a script that needs root privileges without typing in the password. I want to copy a file from my documents folder into /etc/X11 to overwrite my xorg.conf. I do this because I will have my computer switch from my monitors to my TV when I watch a movie. But I'd like to be able to make it a clickable icon so I don't have to type in cp /... /etc/...

This is my "script"

Code:

sudo cp /home/nertskull/Documents/xorg.conf_TV /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Then I read a lot of places that said to add this to the sudoers file (sudo visudo)

Code:

nertskull ALL = NOPASSWD: /home/nertskull/Documents/switch_TV.sh

I've done all that, and I still get asked for my password when I run that file.

nertskull ALL = ...
%nertskull ALL = ...
%users ALL = ...
%admin ALL = ...

I'm sure it's something simple I'm overlooking, but I've read 5 different threads on this, and I can't find anything they did that I'm not doing. Also, here is my sudoers file, because I know location within the file matters. But what I read said I should be putting my stuff at the end.

Code:

# /etc/sudoers
#
# This file MUST be edited with the 'visudo' command as root.
#
# See the man page for details on how to write a sudoers file.

Ubuntu :: Activate Onscreen Keyboard OnBoard WITHOUT Typing?

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to activate the on screen keyboard (onBoard) without typing, except at the log-in screen.
