I'm trying out the latest Ubuntu and I'm having trouble transferring my bookmarks from my old hard drive. I saved the HTML file , but when I go to import the bookmarks to the new hard drive I don't see an option to import the bookmarks when I launch firefox and open the bookmarks tab. My bookmarks tab doesn't have a manage bookmarks option. can someone tell me how to transfer them ?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use flock 2.5.2 as my browser, and have recently been unable to save any bookmarks, and use the back and forward buttons (as there is no history being stored) . I can't drag links to the bookmark toolbar either.I am using Ultimate Edition 2.3 - which is essentially Ubuntu 9.04 underneath all the fancy bits lol.I downloaded flock as a debian package via the getdeb website.Will happily post any logs that are needed to help - I'm just clueless as to what would be a good place to start!Have tried removing flock, and re-installing, and the problem remains..

I have windows cmd running a ping to my server, and all is fine until i try to transfer files. Some will transfer fine, and then out of nowhere the server will stop replying. I then have to restart the server to gain access to it. A 2 GB file will transfer about halfway, and then the server will not be able to be pinged. I have static IP on the server and my desktop. Running XP x64 and Ubuntu server 32-bit 9.04. Tried using Samba and NFS Exports. I have both my desktop and server connected to the same gigabit switch, and then my switch connected to my router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving a bit of a issue with Debian Squeeze and transferring files to the Sony PSP..Hook up PSP to USB port and Debian mounts it..I go to drag a 125 meg mp4 to video folder..Copy windows takes about 10 seconds to transfer it..Exit USB mode and there is no video there. Go back into USB mode and look at video folder on the PSP memory stick and there is no video..It vanished. From another after copy progress closed I right clicked PSP and unmounted it..
It error-ed saying device was busy and could not unmount..Looking at light on PSP i see memory stick is still being written to..i wait for light to stop flashing..About a minute or so..Then am able to unmount it..Go to PSP video and theres the video ready to be watched. Debian isnt accurately showing the copy progress...Its showing complete when it isnt..I have to watch the light on PSP to know when it is truly finished.
using Slackware 13.0, and whenever i trasfer my files to USB, like copy or cut and paste, it will show as if file transfered in an instant,like click paste and poof.the whole 1 gig file transferred in one second, and it wont show dialog box of transfer process, and then i have to predict some minutes and wait (till the transfer actually finishes, i have to usually see my USB's transfer indicator light), if i plug out before or my prediction goes wrong, i end up with corrupted files. This aint related to window manager, as same is case for KDE and XFCE tried thunar, konqueror, midnight commander, all of em resulted with same problem.

i am trying to transfer a file from my live linux machine to remote linux machine it is a mail server and single .tar.gz file include all data. but during transfer it stop working. how can i work and trouble shooot the matter. is there any better way then this to transfer huge 14 gb file over network,vpn,wan transfer. the speed is 1mbps,rest of the file it copy it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've used Ubuntu one for file syncing on my work and home computer (started on 10.10 only recently upgraded to 11.04, work is XP) and while it seems a tad slow in syncing it worked okay. Though I've used alternatives because they seem more responsive.
Well I've recently upgraded to 11.04 on my comp at home and installed 11.04 on my lappy (new install). Both are 64-bit version of Ubuntu. Thought I'd start using the other sync features and see how it fairs.
Well files appear to be okay (though I haven't tested it thoroughly yet), but I cannot get firefox bookmarks or tomboy to sync at all. I've searched through the forums but it appears to be only comments about it not working, I've yet to see anyone with a solution. I've checked out .cache/ubuntuone/log and all the syncdeamon exception logs are empty. I also just threw a file into the Ubuntu One folder and it synced damn fast. so it appears the only issues is with the bookmarks and notes.
I have two Ubuntu Lucid Lynx computers, and I want to share files between them. Whenever I need some file, it's in the another computer. So what I want? I want that my PC's synchronize the files together: When I create a new bookmark (in Chrome) on computer X, it will appear in the computer Y's browser. I also have Documents-folder on both computers. When I put something in that folder I want it to be shown on the other computer's Documents-folder.
Is this possible with Ubuntu One?

Does anyone else have this issue? Sometimes, one of my bookmarks (Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos) will randomly disappear from the list in Nautilus, and it seems to also affect the Places menu and Thunar as well. The directories are obviously still there, but the bookmarks randomly disappear!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running Ubuntu 9.10 on my desktop computer which runs a Core 2 Duo at 3.2ghz and I have 2 gig of RAM. I have installed all the latest Ubuntu updates.
In Firefox, I have about 70 bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbar. Obviously the bar can't show 70 so most of them are in the dropdown section of the bar on the right. When I add a new bookmark, Firefox adds it to the end of the dropdown. Sometimes I want them to be closer to the top so I scroll down, click and drag it up closer to the top. In Firefox under Windows this works fine. However in Firefox under Ubuntu, as soon as I start to drag it up Firefox turns gray and Ubuntu totally locks up. Everything in Ubuntu freezes. The main bar at the top stays color, only Firefox turns gray. I tried clicking around but it's frozen. I tried pressing Esc, ctrl-alt-delete, and a number of other keys but noting will unfreeze Ubuntu. I have to physically turn off my computer and reboot.
Last week I dropped my keyboard, came back about an hour later, and without realizing the keyboard was on the ground hitting a random button I went to add a bookmark to my menu panel(I think that's what it's called). An unknown amount of the selected bookmark then posted to my menu panel and now i am not even able to select my Applications, Places, or System options without the bookmarked task opening. Is there anyway of clearing out that entire menu panel and having a fresh start?
EDIT: All I did was delete the .gtk-bookmarks file and restart the computer. There were still alot of theme on the panel but i was able to delete them and everything returned to normal.
So I was playing RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 in a WINE Virtual Desktop when I went to check my email. I launched Firefox and suddenly my bookmarks started to replicate and haven't stopped. I've recorded this happening. Link here: [URL]

Seems easy enough - just drag the bookmark to the desktop. It works in chrome but when I tried it on 2 different pc's I get the same error:
