how I'd go about copying all my FTP and Directory bookmarks from my main PC to my laptop?I'm assuming it's just as simple as copying a file list from somewhere, as root (Alt F2) but not sure where to look.
View 3 RepliesI have had nothing but trouble, and - judging from the extent of your forums - it looks like I'm not the only one.If this system is so great, why do so many people have so much trouble?
1). How do I import my Contacts, especially if Ubuntu's email program says it can't find my old Outlook?
2) How do I import my bookmarks, again, if Ubuntu's version of Firefox says it can't find any other browser?
3) If I go ahead and install this thing, and then decide it is too much hassle, how hard is it going to be to uninstall it?
I don't mean to be contentious here, but I really don't want to get into something that is only going to substitute one frustration for another, either.
I just recently figured out how to import bookmarks with FF4. Why did Mozilla see fit to Hide the "Organize Bookmarks" behind the "Show All Bookmarks" menu is beyond me?

how to import my FF 3.6.3 bookmarks into Epiphany 2.22.1.1 ? I tried the "Import from Firefox" feature but it doesn`t seem to work. Then I tried to import the FF bookmarks.html but Epiphany doesn`t recognize that one either.

I have been modeling on Tremulous on and off, but I have been having a recurring problem with vert counts that I have decided to address. I had planned to add plugin scripts to blender that will let me import/export md3 files. I was able to download the plugins in a zip file and I know where the blender scripts are located, but this is where I'm having problems. When I try to move the extracted plugins into the folder, I get a warning about me not having permission. I know I can get around the problem by using my root login command. What I don't know the command I need to use to move the plugins where they need to go.

Sometimes, one of my bookmarks (Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos) will randomly disappear from the list in Nautilus, and it seems to also affect the Places menu and Thunar as well. View 3 Replies View Relatedi want to backup some of my personal settings. for work i used emblems in nautilus to flag files i already processed (manually). now, i do not find any possiblity to back up the emblem-assignments. from older threads i figured out, that these assignments were in an .xml file in the ~/.nautilus/metadata folder, which is empty since newer versions of nautilus.i also tried to get some useful information out of the
.local/share/gvfs-metadata/* files, but i did not succeed with this approach either (just used the "strings" command on them).edit: i'm aware, that i could write a script reading the metadata of the files via gvfs-info. the problem is, i cannot access the files from home, only at work via windows share.
For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?

after I had to rebuild the rpmdb because of some errors within it, i can't import any gpg-keys with the command "rpm --import". All I get is this:

Is it possible to change my current nautilus window to have sudo capabilities,? e.g. to delete locked files. It may be lazy but if it takes a lot of navigation then it would be handy to somehow activate sudo from the open window without the terminal command (gksudo nautilus) which always begins at root.

But whatever image I try (some PNG or even SVG files) I can't get them to be displayed. It seems there is a very special format, size, type to match the Gnome/GTK+/Nautilus icon requirements...

By the way, a guy on Ubuntu Forums thought this was a mockup. It's not. It's the regular version of Nautilus, only I removed some toolbar buttons through the /usr/share/nautilus/ui xml files.
I just want the location bar next to the toolbar to conserve screen space, and be a bit more like Finder.
I was transferring data from one computer to my laptop and crash error came up on my laptop...

What could be the problem? Is it serious issue? I have been having security issues with Windows and are those issues begun once again? I have been under targeted attack since 2005.
